Disappointed! Not with Stanish's, but with all the bad reviews. I went online to get the address for a friend who was going to meet us and saw a load of bad reviews. Now I was ...

I have no idea why this is the ""Best Burger"" 12/4/2006

Where's the beef? There was nothing on the bun except onions and lettuce. Soggy fries too! Ick. Cons: All more

Burgers yes..fries, what ARE they? 11/20/2006

My husband I came here in the late 80's after everyone said we HAD to. We hated it. Pros: Hamburger, staff Cons: no credit cards?????, fries (yuck) more

Best burgers 11/9/2006

Bring your cash because they still don't take plastic. Simply the best burger in town though. Stanich burgers blow-away all the high priced restaurants and at half the cost. Fries are a bit greasy for my taste but are good and plentiful. Pros: value Cons: service somewhat slow more

Best Burger in town 9/5/2006

Stanich's has always been a great place to get a Good burger. Their fries could definately use some work, but their burgers are juicy, with buns lightly toasted to perfection, and are well worth the wait you may encounter. I just found out they have a Stanich's in SW near John's Landing too. Much less crowded, and all the same great burger! Pros: Amazing Burger Cons: Fries aren't so good more

Yum,Yum! 4/18/2006

Stanich has been around for ever,or at least for as long as I can remember,& are always great for their burgers,a little more focus on their fries could help ,but when you get a burger as good as this who cares about eating the fries,if you could, after, finishing the burger!! Because of the popularty there is always a wait but well worth it!! Pros: Great Burgers, Great appearance, inexpensive Cons: Parking, not large enough, Faster Service more

waiting for a small burger 4/10/2006

I signed up to give feedback after I ate here. It took an hour to get the ""world's greatest burger"". I am not exagerating. I looked around at the other tables who were all eyeing the waitress in hopes they would eat soon. They told us it would be a wait but we had no idea that meant an hour for two mediocre hamburgers and some greasy burnt fries. The wait staff was friendly and apologetic but I felt ripped off. I wish I had read the comments before coming here. Apparently they are banking on their old reputation. Don't eat here. more

Good news-bad news 6/15/2005

The burgers were good, the prices are very reasonable, and they did pay attention to our high maintenance order for 5 people. The bad news is the wait time. Expect an hour, long enough for burger and fries odor to permeate your hair and clothing. I hear the SW location is much faster. more

mikes fav. 6/14/2005

It is common knowledge that when Michael Jordan comes to do business at Nike he requires the limo to stop on his way into town and stop on his way out of town to pick up a Stanich burger, enough said more

Good burguer, wrong day for fries 2/10/2005

I rate my burgers under 2 categories. The large, often over 1/3 pound, good quality meat burgers, where the beef is the centerpiece, and everything else. This falls under the latter. The burger was above average. Their sweet relish-ish sauce is good, but there was a little too much of it. I would've expected a fresher hunkier slice of bacon. Now, the fries on the other hand, I could've done without. They were wilty and dark. Like somebody dumped 2 tons of spuds in oil that was beyond recycled. Service was prompt and friendly. Pros: ambience, burger Cons: fries more

Perfect 10 10/15/2004

Tremendous Burgers! Well woth the wait- Belly up to the bay with a PBR and soak in the atmosphere. The Milo is the best burger I've had in a long time. more

I love Stanich's! 6/28/2004

...just wish they'd use organic ingredients! amazing burgers---would be even better free range, hormone free! Pros: food, inexpensive, good parking more

Good Burger 4/22/2004

I am new to Portland and have been searching the city for the ""best"" burger. Stanich's is good. Is it the best? No verdict yet, but I have returned more than once and will continue to do so. Pros: Price, Prompt more

Lost it's Touch 3/4/2004

The past four to five time's I've gone to Stanich's I've been disappointed. I use to love their Bo-burgers, but they don't move my taste buds the way they use to. I don't know if it's new beef, or what, but I'm no longer buying into the hype -- just another burger. more

A hamburger joint can't be #1, with me not having tried it. I finely did, a week ago. I was impressed with their large cheeseburger. I didn't care for the bacon, as it was too hard and crisp. I now think that bacon in a cheeseburger, is not a good idea. I definately think that an egg is out of place. Without the bacon, I would say, I had may have had the best hamburger, yet. The bun was large, and very fresh. All of the other ingredients, made for a delicious experience. The french fries were also very good, and not greasy. I came in at 11am, when they open, and waited 20 to 25 minutes for the burger. I hope this is not normal, if so, I hope that improves. Pros: So far, it's # 1 Cons: Too far away. more

A+ Burgers 10/5/2003

I can't believe some of these negative reviews. Stanich burgers are outstanding! I have been going there for 20 years. Stanich's West is good too. I have never had a bad experience. My burger is always cooked to order, the fries are delicious......everyone should try Stanich's. Pros: outstanding burger, the price Cons: only one waitress more

Overrated 8/31/2003

Most overrated hamburger in the city. Patty is small and tasteless, cheese is awful. You can get a better burger at a Mexican restaurant. more

This is Portland's Best? 2/16/2003

I have to admit I was was very disappointed when I went to this restaurant after citysearch's rave reviews. I'm not sure what the big deal is other than that a hamburger with fried egg and ham is bound to clog your arteries quicker than consuming a pound of lard. The service was friendly, but I have had better burgers at other Portland establishments. more

fun place, times change 1/21/2003

this old school tavern is a wood panelled trove of greasy pennants and mediocre food. FUN then, probably FUN now if you can get past the tasteless meat and cheese, the unsalted, burnt fries. enjoy the fade. Pros: people having fun, wood panelling! Cons: bad burger, change fryer grease more

pull the plug on tradition 1/17/2003

This place may be a NE Portland landmark, but that doesn't give it the right to be voted ""best burger"". Highly overrated! The fries are mostly burned and greasy (is it that hard to make good fries? I do better at home!), and the burgers are nothing special. The atmosphere is a mix of hunting lodge and tavern. Time to close down and rethink the future of this establishment. Pros: walking distance Cons: smoking, grease more

Number 1? PUHLEEZE. 1/16/2003

The minute I arrived in Portland from Memphis, TN nearly three years ago, I asked around for the best burger. In Memphis, we have Huey's addictions--Huey's makes HAND-FORMED, HUGE patties grilled to order in all of their restaurants. While the atmosphere there can be rather annoying, they were always game to make to go orders. Anyway, back to Stanich's. I finally forced my vegetarian boyfriend to go with me to watch me eat one of these famous hamburgers. And I haven't gone back since. WHAT A LETDOWN! The pattie was just like the kind you can buy in bulk at Costco, the cheese was crap Velveeta...it was greasy but only because the grill and the entire restaurant has layers of grease coating every surface, not fresh juices from a good piece of meat. For burgers, this place is a JOKE. I am still searching for anything close to number one! Pros: Atmosphere, service, decor Cons: hamburger, unclean more
