St Marks Comics 3/14/2006

Comic Book lovers will love this store. Possibly one of the best in the city itself. It's not very large, but their selection of comics is extraordinary, and their customer service is great. I realize there are plenty of comic book stores in NY, but this one is the elite of the elite. more

Stacked - lots of classics 2/22/2006

You want the unusual or hard to find comics this is the place. Crowded, staff has plenty of attitude, but you can find unique and the classics. Found my Dr. Who Comics here, and the magazine as well. You have to search through the bins and look for what you want, but it’s fun. Large selection, right prices and a great place to browse. more

small, but has all the good stuff 8/19/2005

St. Marks Comics is a pretty good shop, but they are cramped on space, so everything is stacked. You usually have to squeeze your way through the aisles to get anywhere. They have new and old comics, and a better selection of older comics to choose. If they don't have it, you can request to have them call you up after they try to find it. The staff is helpful and just about find anything you need in the store. I'd add them to your list of comic book stores to check for that extra special something. more

some things survive on st. marks 8/5/2005

And one of those things is St. Marks Comics. To be honest, I haven’t been inside in a while. But don’t hold that against them. It’s not their fault I hate the way Catwoman’s being drawn nowadays. Anyways, this is a solid comic bookstore with a few collectibles to boot. It’s short on space, so their backfiles can be a tad limited. I wouldn’t necessarily recommend to hard-core collectors or stuff pre-70s. However, they're a great place for solid comic book collection. more

funky comic store 7/26/2005

St. Mark's Comics located right in the middle of the East Village is one smoking comics shop. It needs a paint job and the older comics are efectively buried under boxes of toys but whereas this would be annoying in most stores here it is just charming. My son loves this place the best of all of the stores in New York. more

Best Comics In The Village 7/9/2005

They've been in the East Village for about a million years serving up their strange mix of comics, toys and tattooed staff. Seriously the place is a bit of a mess and the back issues seem to have been relegated to a back room where they pine away buried under stacks of toys but these folks have a tremendous selection and are open very late. You can find almost any graphic novel even those long out of print for cover price on their shelves. more

East Village Comics 7/7/2005

Long time shop in the East Village scene. Great selection of material. Ramshackle place in the back toys are stacked up on boxes of comics. Everywhere you turn there are mounds of posters, toys and comics. The store has that definite funky East Village feel. The best thing about this store is that they are opened to midnight or later most nights. more
