Squat and Gobble

I'll put in another vote for the West Portal location. I've been to the one near lower Haight and it just isn't the same. At West Portal there are plenty of seats, plenty of food options, no one rushes you, and the food is always great. A great place for lunch, breakfast (amazing omlettes), or even dinner (they even have great dinner specials). more

Even though this is a family owned restaurant and crepery, it really does not "feel like home". The atmosphere at Squat and Gobble is very chilly. The workers never greet you and barely make any eye contact when I ordered. The lady behind the counter looked very bored and wanted me to rush to my seat. I ordered a latte and they gave me a super sweet mocha which I kept because I did not want to be difficult. Then they messed up on my friend's order and were very rude when she wanted to change it. They argued with her for about 10 minutes before making a new one. This completely ruined our lunch so we asked for a refund. Horrible, Horrible experience. Bad service and gross food. The crepes are so small and never cooked right. If you want a good crepe, your best bet is try somewhere else. This is not the only crepery in town. more

I really like this place. The burgers are DELICIOUS, and it's a great place to take kids. more

If you haven't tried it yet, check out Squat and Gobble in west portal. They have a huge selection of items (crepes, salads and more), all of which are fresh, delicious and reasonably priced. Plus, the setting is very nice and there's always a table. more

Squat & Gobble has several locations in the City and my favorite is the W. Portal location. The expansive menu makes this a GREAT place for breakfast, or any other meal, really. They also have crepes, sandwiches, and salads. I always order the standard eggs or omelet with toast and potatoes...and then a yummy nutella crepe to top it off! So be sure to come a big appetite and empty stomach! more
