Waste of time stay away 5/6/2010

If this is a signature restaurant for Mr Puck, he should sit and watch reactions to the food. We didn't finish the Ahi Sashimi because of bland taste and risotto was hard and undercooked! Watched and heard two neighboring tables complain about and not finish lamb dishes. There were supposedly four waiters teaming to serve us. Never a full glass of water, no explanation of plates, poured our own wine and had waiters constantly buzzing past us without asking us once how we were doing. Just because you are busy and expensive does not make you fine dining. If you are a name whore, this is your spot. Better experiences in Hawaiin fine dining style at Mama's or Sarento's with unexplainable better views. Just not worth your time or money to be with a bunch of clowns. And as for being the best in Wailea, maybe they should look at Waldorf Astoria down the street. more

Ridiculously great! 6/6/2008

We had our wedding dinner there. Wife and I are food snobs and her brother is executive chef of a 4-star restaurant here in Denver. Everyone raved about everything. Personally, I thought the beef carpaccio was not only the best I'd ever had but it was one of the best dishes overall I had ever had in my life. Brother in law was raving about his tuna but I was too consumed by my lamb. It was phenomenal and completely worth the second mortgage I had to take out in order to afford the bill. more

A pricey but sublime night out 12/4/2007

A really excellent dining experience. The restaurant is pleasant and pretty, the drinks were tasty, and the food was spectacular. Face it, Wolfgang's minions know how to run a restaurant. Don't let the ""celebrity chef"" moniker throw off, it's just a great spot, hands down.\r \r The food focuses on fresh, local (if possible) ingredients, and the flavor combinations were creative and all incredibly tasty. The appetizers were all fantastic, with incredibly fresh and tasty sashimi prepared in beatiful style. My beef was some of the best i've ever had, perfectly seasoned and prepared. The wine list was surprisingly varied in both content and price, which gave us lots of options. One standout is that the service was truly excellent, as our waiter gave us great recommendations, was attentive but not overbearing, and made the whole experience quite fun.\r \r Sure, it's really expensive. But everything is on Maui, and if you have the cash, Spago is worth the price. Pros: Wonderful, creative, fresh and flavorful food. top notch service. Cons: Very expensive, but it is worth it. more
