Ok massage, over priced 9/19/2010

I recently visited Spa Paradiso in the Davenport Hotel for a hot stone massage. When you enter the spa you're taken to the locker area and given a robe and slippers. You wait in the Serenity room for your therapist which was a nice atmosphere. The massage room itself was clean and organized. More of a commercial feel to it. The massage with the hot stone was very relaxing on the back of my body. I could feel the tension drifting away. The therapist did a great job there. Then she flips you over and works the front side of your body, arms, legs, neck, shoulders. She used what seemed to be an excessive amount of oil. She went way up into my neck, head and hair with the oil and the rocks. She did the hair pulling technique which normally I enjoy very much as a scalp treatment, but with all the oil on her hands thats all I could think about. Then she puts more oil on her hands and proceeds to massage my face. There again I would have enjoyed a face massage but not with oil on my face!! I had make up on, she never once asked if it was ok to touch my face or if I wanted to wipe off my make up. So as I said she relaxed me and was great until she flipped me over. Then with all the hair and face and oil used, I immediately tensed up! I am a massage therapist also, and I learned for sure what not to do. I should have been asked if it was ok first. I had shopping to do afterwards and felt so gross and oily, it ruined the whole massage for me. The scalp and face techniques are just as effective without all that oil. For the price I paid, and the oily aspect, I would not return. more

Hits and Misses 7/25/2005

Spa Paradiso is beautiful. However, Ive had spotty service. My aesthetician is amazing, and I wouldnt dream of going to another salon after seeing her work. However, my hair stylist left a lot to be desired. She was great the first time I went in, but the second time I tried her, I was deeply disappointed. I went to Seattle rather than have her touch my hair again. They have an amazing location and a fabulous facility. Just a little more consistent service and they would be perfect. Pros: Aesthetics, Facility, Location Cons: Inconsistentcy, Service (at times) more

Worth it! 11/7/2004

I treated myself to a massage package recently, and it was a bit spendy, but sooo worth it! I was treated like royalty in every way. This is something that I will recommend to everyone! Being in The Davenport doesn't hurt! Just think, after your spa experience, you can go into the Peacock Room and have a cocktail. It doesn't get much better! Pros: atmosphere, service, skill more
