A nice bar scene 4/16/2006

This place is a bar and a restaurant. I like coming here for the bar scene. It is always an enjoyable atmosphere. There are a lot of locals hanging out here. They have great specials and the bartenders are great. The food here is pretty good but I think it is overrated and a little bland. more

I’m not a fan of this place. The food here is so overrated. They serve you some great portions but I have tasted better Southern food. The waiting staff is nice and the food always comes out quick but the taste isn’t there. If you get stuck here with some friend just hit the bar, it gets a nice crowd and the bartenders are cool. more

All my friends love the food served here. The food comes out in large portions and does taste solid but I haven’t yet been blown away by a meal I have consumed here. They specialize in southern food. I’m a big fan of this cuisine but I’ve had better meals. I really don’t get he hype the locals have created. more

Incredible Bang for your Buck! 1/17/2006

Southside 815 is a real gem in this city of overpriced fancy food. They feature a southern themed menu with portions big enough to feed a family. On top of that, it's one of the cheapest places you'll find in town, too. One of the most outstanding dishes is the Charleston Chicken, featuring a smothered chicken breast with collard greens and mashed potatoes. Their bar food is also delicious too, which complements the low drink prices found therein. more

My favorite restaurant 8/22/2005

In addition to well-prepared "southern food" (try to drunked pot roast!), the atmosphere in this restaurant is perfect. The dining area is cozy, and the bar is packed most any day of the week. During nice days, they also have an outdoor seating area on a beautiful street. This location is extremely popular for Sunday Football games, so go early if you want a seat! more

A real bar with top quality food 8/21/2005

One thing that gets lost in the DC area is the feeling of being at a real bar, with cheap drinks for normal people. Here they daily happy hour specials are rail drinks, not the costly martinis that you will find in DC. Southside 815 blends that type of bar with an good quality restaurant serving upscale southern cuisine. The food is southern influenced but quite modern, done in a style that tastes like real food for real people. more
