Buyers beware, especially when dealing with Jim. If not dealing with Jim, remember they all share the same business approach philosophy. These guys will say anything to get your money. Then, as for support, I will echo the previous reviewer who says they act like they wish you would just go away: Unless of course you wish to spend more money.
We had just moved to COS from another state and had some Polk Audio speakers under warrantee that blew. We took them there and it was SUPPOSED to be a no questions asked type deal. After going home I got a call from the manager who began questioning me about how they were both broken....WTF!?! He said it didn't make sense to him that these weren't working and thought I was abusing them. Yep that's right. I was stunned and very angry. Found out later they broke due to moisture and altitude change.
Unfortunately we also bought the Control4 from them and their techs installed the system. I ordered light switches to go with it but they conveniently didn't come in on time so I had to pay two separate installation fees. I received no manual for the system, no support materials of any kind after asking numerous times. It was as if they said yes, yes, and yes, and once you left the store or the tech left our house we were out of sight and out of mind. During the whole experience Jim kept telling us, "Don't worry, I'll take care of you and we'll work out the lowest price along with full product support." This was just a line of crap from him.
During the whole process we purchased a lot of other equipment from them. I found one unit on the list for less online (of course) and I told him about it to see if he could match it. He said no and then told us that even if we brought the competitors unit in for service, AND PAID FOR THE REPAIRS, that we still wouldn't be given any priority over products in for service that were bought from them. In other words, even if our unit was next in line and another product came in that had been bought from them, our issue would be bumped to the rear of the line again. Bad, bad, business tactics.
I am now having problems getting help from them for the Control$ issues. I have called twice and they keep saying they will get right back with me. I'm still waiting. I'll bet if I physically went to the store and wave some money around they would wine and dine me on the spot. In the beginning that's what they did to us. I guess you live and you learn. These guys are full of it and you will notice this soon after you begin to deal with them. Beware and good luck.
I am slaved to them for Control4 technical support and considering paying the extra money get another tech team to come and take over my system. Unfortunately for us, we had already done business with them before we were able to put the whole experience together and evaluate it. Terry's comment about getting service for broken equipment was the straw that broke my camel's back. I/we will NEVER buy anything from this store again. I do not care what the implied savings is.
You can do what you want obviously. But, I sincerely hope you at least read this and keep it in mind if and when you go there. At least then you will see what’s happening to you a little more clearly and then shouldn't blame them because you've been warned.
