I would recommend going elsewhere. The 3/14/2012

I would recommend going elsewhere. The woman I spoke with on the phone was completely rude. I called in to ask if it was possible to speak with a veterinarian prior to making a decision regarding a surgery for my dog. I have never, in my 6 or 7 years of being a pet owner, been denied to speak with the veterinarian beforehand. Her response to me was ""well that's what the consultation is for"" IF I DON'T HAVE TO PAY ALMOST $100 FOR A CONSULTATION WHY WOULD I DO IT! I know my dog needs surgery all I needed was to ask a few questions before asking how soon. more

sonoran veterinary specialist sucks 9/4/2011

Great Care and Caring Staff !!! Best Vet Experience Ever!! 11/8/2010

I found my Labrador Retriever Tonka was in his kennel covered in vomit and urine and I was very worried. I took him outside and realized he was peeing blood .Not a hint of blood, pure blood. I immediatly called my vet and it went to a message center refering me to call Sonora Veterinary Clinic in case of emergency. I called them right away and began having histerics and crying because I was so worried about my Tonka (he's the baby of my house-only 10 months old). I came in right away (I had to call her again cuz I was a little distracted and she steered me in). I was seen right away and Tonka's vet (Dr. Linney)came in and asked a lot of questions and then explained what he thought was a good first step and we took it from there. He never even talked about any other procedure until we had results and had disscussed the previous test and the next step was needed. Everytime I called I was connected to only the Vets who were treating my dogs. All I said was I am Tonka's owner and BAM----->talking to his vet. I got faster/better service at this clinic then I have ever gotten in a human one!! They always knew the latest update and how he was doing. Even when the vets changed over they never missed a beat! Every time I called or was called no one ever rushed me or acted rude(everyone was very sweet and caring) they always took the time out for my questions and concerns. Every person I talked to was very respectful and kind to not only me and my family but to my dog. Every time I had a question, they had an answer . My bill was explained to me and they did whatever they could to make the whole situation easier on me and my pet. When I came to get my dog, Tonka's other vet Dr.Grant came in and explained everything to me for his outpatient care and answered all my questions and gave me suggestions to help with Tonka's recovery (she had also called me earlier to update me....again!). Francis (the worlds best vet tech) came in and explained all the medicines and what all the stuff on my bill was and what it was given for and why (all I did was ask). I left that office feeling confident and happy. Yes it was an exspensive bill......but I got great care and only paid for what my dog needed. And having someone there for me and my dog 24/7 was such a relief!!! They got all of Tonka's symptoms identified and solved !! I took my dog home and later that night I realized he had a small cut on his leg and I thought it might need stiches. I brought him in all stressed out and mad cuz I thought he was finally gunna get to be home and relax!! When I got there the vet took a peek and said.....go home he will be just fine, just don't let him lick it. She didn't charge me a dime!!!! And during the quick look the receptionist (Renee) came over and helped keep and eye on my 4 year old and let my daughter talk her ear off so I could talk with the vet about Tonka's condition and ask her more questions I had! Tonka's vets were amazing so were the vet techs (Francis and Trish) and the receptionists.......if your special critter needs help take them to Dr.Grant and Dr.Linney.....they will show your pet the love and care you would give them. When I brough Tonka back the second time (after an overnight stay and all the tests) he was so happy to see Dr.Grant and all the vet techs!! Can you believe it!? I just couldn't believe how nice everyone was and how patient and caring they were.....it was amazing (especially when your all stressed out and upset cuz your pet is hurt)!! You can really tell that everyone there LOVES there job and cares about all the pet's that walk through their door!!! Even my 4 year old loves the place and the people in it (she left with candy and goodies the receptionists and vet techs gave her!) !!! AWESOME!!! If my Tonka ever needs emergency care again (I hope not!) Sonora Vetrinary Specialist is where I will be taking him!! more

BEST Animal Emergency Place EVER! 10/11/2010

Last weekend, I was hiking with my dog Banjo when he was attacked by a rattle snake out of nowhere! I've had experience with the other emergency clinics in town and all they care about is money! Thankfully I had seen Sonora across the street from the Bashas when I shop, so I went straight there without even calling and they took me no problem. Sonora and Dr. Linney cared about me and Banjo. They got me in, and quickly started working on Banjo. They helped me thru a difficult time and gave me several cost practical options as well as plenty of information. They are a teaching hospital, so you can expect lots of options!! Dr. Linney was compassionate and he and his staff called me several times a day to tell me how Banjo was doing. They let me spend hours sitting with him and I was able to see the ""behind the scenes"" which was QUITE IMPRESSIVE I must say. These doctors and nurses are the best of the best and I will tell everyone how wonderful they were. They saved my sweet Banjo and it was way less than the other emergency place would have been. Granted he didn't get his teeth done, but hey, that's what my regular vet is for LOL! I'm just grateful that Sonora was there in my time of need. THANK YOU SONORA and DR. LINNEY!!! more

Pet Owner Beware 9/19/2010

**Please Please do not use this facility...** I recently took my dog into this location because she injured herself while jumping a fence. She had a deep wound in her chest, but was not bleeding too much and was alert and happy. I knew no major arteries were hit and all she needed was stitches. I took her to Sonora since it was after hours for my regular vet, and close to my home. After a long wait, the vet tech came and did an exam of the area, and then said he had to go call the doctor. This is supposed to be a 24 hr vet staffed location. After 25 min, he came back to inform me that my dog needed to stay overnight so she could be monitored, given intravenous fluids, and have a pump of some sort put in and would be stitched in the morning. I said that was crazy! All she needed was the stitches! I told him that I didn't want to leave my dog and wanted her to be stitched that night. He left to call the doc again and this time had the receptionist come back to tell me it would cost $1200. I told her that was completely outrageous and they were simply trying to take advantage of me due to the situation. I also told them it was clear there was not a vet on site, and that was the reason for them wanting to keep her overnight. This facility WILL take advantage of you when you are at your most vulnerable. I ended up taking my dog home and caring for her until Banfield opened in the morning. As for the cost, it was $450, but since I went on their Wellness Plan it was only $275, and that included a teeth cleaning. more
