Horrible Dinning Experience in a long time 12/16/2011

I eat out quite often and I have to say this dining experience has been the worst in a long time. more

Nunca mas! Terrible wannabe Tex-Mex eatery 3/5/2010

Seldom has what passed for food set on a restaurant table disappointed more than at this theatre district eatery. Suffice it to say that the manana-paced service delivered pseudo-edibles that seemed drenched in commercial sauces. El Paso or Ortega concotions, off the supermarket shelves, can do better. Support US-Mexican relations and dine elsewhere! Pros: Has two EXIT doors Cons: Too many to list more

Absolutely would not recommend!!! 7/27/2008

Very poor and slow service!!! Below average food compared to many Mexican restaurants we've dined at. Extremely expensive for what you receive!!!! Children were charged full price for each soft drink. I do not recommend and will never go back. Very small and dirty restrooms. Cons: Poor Food & Service more

AVOID this terrible place at ALL COSTS!!! 10/10/2007

A coworker and I ate here before seeing a show. Reserved through OpenTable's website I was so disappointed this Mexican restaurant was recommended by opentable. The food was terrible, the drinks were expensive, they charge $5 for chips and salsa (the salsa was very spicy, they don't make any other mild or medium options). Normal places give you that on your table for free (like bread & butter)...not here! The food was terrible. I ordered a chicken enchilada - it was very dry & the chicken was stringy (and by definition an enchilada is baked with cheese melted on top, but not at this place!). Most places would serve this with sour cream and/or guacamole. Not here! You want that, they'll charge you extra for each. When I inquired about the missing baked cheese, our waitress said that the restaurant's policy is to not give any and that she would have to charge me an additional $2.50 for cheese. I was annoyed, but I agreed to the surcharge since it was so dry. She brought me a small cup of cold shredded cheese straight out of the fridge. Not melted, just cold. This is nothing like what an enchilada is supposed to be. I asked her about this, her response was "it's restaurant policy" and "the kitchen won't give it to me until I charge it on your check." (and the waitress said others have complained about the same exact things before!!!) My entire experience here was ridiculously poor. The only redeeming quality was the location & the drinks (even though they a bit pricey, you can find a bigger margarita elsewhere for less money) If they'd already built the price of the "extras" into the meal's price, I wouldn't feel as ripped-off paying for it...but the nickel & dime-ing for cheese, guacamole & sour cream is just ridiculous. Charge $20 for a portion that includes everything, instead of $14 with nothing. I could have spent $80 elsewhere and had a better meal & drinks. If you're seeing a show, go over to John's Pizzeria on 44th instead. Pros: Location Cons: Food, Service more

good empanadas and soapadillas 9/1/2007

the appetizers are good. we had quesadillas and empanadas (which i never had before). tasty. so for the entree we ordered the enchiladas, soft taco which came with rice n beans. it was AWFUL!!! the chicken wasn't seasoned, tasted like it was washed in soap and the rice n beans was worse. our dessert of soapadillas was very good as well. i wouldn't go back nor would i recommend it. Pros: dessert Cons: main dishes are gross even rice n beans more

Great tasting food 5/30/2007

The quality of the food was great - very delicious. They weren't stingy w/the portions except that my fajitas came with only 2 tortillas and when I asked for more, I received 3 for the price of $2.75. The servers were very friendly. Only bad thing was the check at the end...they automatically included gratuity into my bill even though there were only 2 of us dining and the gratuity was over 20% of the bill. I asked them to please take it off and let me calculate my own tip and they obliged but I think that was rude to charge it in the first place and so much! I definitely recommend the food but just check the bill at the end! Pros: Food is delicious Cons: Included unreasonable gratuity into check more

Sangria is a must! 7/2/2006

My kids go to school across the street and I work 3 blocks away. I have been there with work colleagues, with TONS of children and some designated adults and they are gracious every time. I love the food and as a person that does not drink often or regularly, I am practically addicted to their sangria. Pros: kid friendly, convenient location, value more

Great Food and Drinks 7/1/2005

I've had the pleasure of dining here a few times, and each time has been to my satisfaction. The service, food, and margaritas have all been excellent. I will say that often times they make their drinks very strong (may tell your bartender / waitress to keep it mild). Their appetizer portions are not huge, just right since the entrees are much larger. Highly recommended for late dining and happy hour (Sunday - Thurs 2x1 drinks) Pros: Service, Food, Prices Cons: Crowded more

TERRIBLE DINNING EXPERIENCE 12/5/2004

THIS WAS ONE OF THE WORST DINNING EXPERIENCE WE'VE EVER HAD IN NEW YORK. THE WAITSTAFF WERE RUDE AND PUSHY. THE FOOD WAS NOT ONLY BLAND, BUT WE FOUND THE MENU TO BE LACKING A CONSIDERABLE AMOUNT. ON TOP OF ALL THIS THE PRICES WERE WAY TOO HIGH (NOT TO MENTION THE HIDDEN SERVICE CHARGE THEY DON'T ADVERTISE) OVERALL I WOULD RECOMMEND STAYING AWAY IF POSSIBLE. more

Do NOT order delivery!!!! 7/22/2004

We ordered food and was told it would take a 1/2 hour - that was not a problem. One hour and 15 minutes later, the food still hadn't arrived. The manager was obnoxious when spoken to (even though we were polite) so their customer service is definitely lacking. Unfortunatley, we have to admit that the food was delicious. Therefore, the best bet would be to dine in and not order for delivery. Pros: Great Food more
