A coworker and I ate here before seeing a show. Reserved through OpenTable's website
I was so disappointed this Mexican restaurant was recommended by opentable. The food was terrible, the drinks were expensive, they charge $5 for chips and salsa (the salsa was very spicy, they don't make any other mild or medium options). Normal places give you that on your table for free (like bread & butter)...not here!
The food was terrible. I ordered a chicken enchilada - it was very dry & the chicken was stringy (and by definition an enchilada is baked with cheese melted on top, but not at this place!). Most places would serve this with sour cream and/or guacamole. Not here! You want that, they'll charge you extra for each.
When I inquired about the missing baked cheese, our waitress said that the restaurant's policy is to not give any and that she would have to charge me an additional $2.50 for cheese. I was annoyed, but I agreed to the surcharge since it was so dry. She brought me a small cup of cold shredded cheese straight out of the fridge. Not melted, just cold. This is nothing like what an enchilada is supposed to be. I asked her about this, her response was "it's restaurant policy" and "the kitchen won't give it to me until I charge it on your check." (and the waitress said others have complained about the same exact things before!!!)
My entire experience here was ridiculously poor. The only redeeming quality was the location & the drinks (even though they a bit pricey, you can find a bigger margarita elsewhere for less money)
If they'd already built the price of the "extras" into the meal's price, I wouldn't feel as ripped-off paying for it...but the nickel & dime-ing for cheese, guacamole & sour cream is just ridiculous. Charge $20 for a portion that includes everything, instead of $14 with nothing.
I could have spent $80 elsewhere and had a better meal & drinks. If you're seeing a show, go over to John's Pizzeria on 44th instead.
Pros: Location
Cons: Food, Service
