join for the pool, very clicky crowd, far too pretentious and really nothing to be pretentious about.. bar and restuarants ok, hotel rooms too small Pros: great pool more

Good luck getting a membership! 8/25/2008

The rooftop pool is amazing, but it is very tiny. Be prepared to deal with a snotty crowd and expensive drinks and food. The rooms are very tiny too. Pros: Ambience Cons: Pretentious more

This boutique hotel is incredible, let me review it in spanish: 8/22/2008

The Soho House tiene solamente 24 habitaciones. My review was published on Monte Carlo FM blog: www.montecarlo.fm/ Pros: design Cons: price more

Can't beat this roof anywhere in NYC 7/12/2007

A few of my friends were lucky/smart enough to join up in 2003/2004 and I've been going with them about once a month or so since then. First off Citysearch needs to get their facts straight, since last I was told membership is around $2,000/year - and if you flinch at that number, don't even bother trying to get in. Members also need to be referred by 2 existing members, and go before the 'board' (or something like that) before approval. Last I heard the waiting list for membership is around 1500-2000 names long. Good luck. During the spring/summer when its nice enough for bathing-suit weather, the roof has some of the best eye candy in manhattan - think adrianna lima sort of talent - and if you're into that sort of thing, its frequented by celebrities (jay-z and lebron james were having dinner on the roof last I was there). Just understand that if you do get in here, and you do see someone famous/notable, its a absolute no-no to get all excited about it, and approaching them is a serious serious faux pas (although if you happen to be standing next to someone waiting for a drink at the bar I suppose you could just strike up a conversation with them like you would a normal person, but again good luck and do so at your own peril). Pros: Uh, theres a pool on the roof with hot girls everywhere Cons: Impossible to get a membership unless your on the rich register/cover of people mag more

It's Nice but Not Amazing 5/9/2007

If this place were anywhere but NYC, it wouldn't have the reputation it has. The reason it's "amazing" is because it's a roofdeck and pool with sunshine and quiet in a darker, dirtier city where pools are few and far between. The rooftop is smaller than you might think (especially after seeing it on SATC) and the hostess was a bit clueless. The food was standard but presented nicely. A bagle and cream cheese and a coffee was 13.00. It's worth experiencing once and membership would be nice for the roof but you can book several trips to Miami or LA for that amount, where the pools are larger, there is an ocean nearby and the food will be better. Pros: The roof is a nice sanctuary Cons: Otherwise it's a high-rent W more

Rooftop as Exclusive as they Say 6/18/2006

Stayed as a guest in one of the larger rooms Soho has to offer and the bath and bath products were phenomenal. I must have taken two baths during my one night stay! The member rooms, bars, restaurants, and screening room were okay, but the roof was really a stand out--especially weekend brunch...pitchers of their special lemonade while tanning by the pool is sheer ecstacy. The bloody marys are pretty hot, too. The night life at Soho House wasn't as good as the weekend brunch scene, but luckily our butler hooked us up with the best guest lists in town. However, if you're looking for one stop shopping for hotel and nightlife, you might want to look elsewhere. Pros: Small, Private, Exclusive Cons: Quiet nights, kiddies roam free by day more

If you want to be seen in EnWhySee... 10/12/2003

This is the place. You must know someone to be extra hip. Definitely a recommendation. Pros: Great location, Great Staff Cons: None more

  • Located in a converted warehouse in Manhattan's Meatpacking District, Soho House New York includes 44 bedrooms and features a full floor of club space, restaurant, member events room, screening room, Cowshed Spa and rooftop with a swimming pool and bar.

Editorial
  • In Short
A spinoff of its sister establishment in London, this members-only club and hotel opened in April 2003 to tremendous buzz, particularly thanks to its private events and glamorous roof-deck swimming pool (featured in "Sex and the City"). Soho House has a bar and restaurant, as well as a drawing room, screening room and full-scale spa (called Cowshed). For non-members, the hotel's 24 guest bedrooms offer entry to all the perks.
