Editorial review from Citysearch 4/13/2013

Real pros!!!! Over all this is the kinda place to keep coming to. Employees are friendly, helpful, hard working and knowledgable. Sod looking good. Bahia actually in whole pieces. Has better variety of sods then others. Delivery isn't earlier but they will deliver late the night before. And they even deliver same day if needed. more

Editorial review from Citysearch 9/29/2012

Absolutely a horrible company to do business with...stay away at all cost. We ordered 1 pallet of sod form them to replace 300sq. ft. of our yard....there is supposed to be 400sq.ft per pallet by industry standards so we figured we would just use the extra in the back. (Just like the last time we re-sodded 2yrs ago,) Needless to say the pallet they delivered didn't cover our yard. Not only did they shorts us as I noted when they made the deliver but there sod is junk...falling apart with no muck base at all. Never do business with these people ever!!!!!They will not come out to deliver the missing sod. more

Does anyone else find it amusing that all of the responses to the bad reviews are from a person who gave a 5-star review? That's a pretty big red flag for me. I needed some sod and decided to look at reviews first. This company obviously is in denial about how horrible they are. I'm going to Gladiator on 54. Good luck doing business with this place. more

Sod Farm~WORST Company Ever!!! Beware!!! 8/19/2011

My family received a brand new lawn. Paid approx$1500 for a very small yard. Agreed to the VERY lmiited guarantee for $425 for 12 months. The guarantee states to notify Sod Farms of any problem areas that are 2 sqauare feet or larger. I called several times over a 3 week period to have someone come out and look at my dying grass. I FINALLY got someone to come out and spray for cinch bugs and fungus (after sending pics of dead grass to them). By this time I had alot of ""dead spots"" and was very dissatisifed. Plus...they charged me $80.00 for coming out and spraying. I called to speak to someone in charge and got nowhere. Their ""GUARANTEE"" does nothing but spray fertilizer bi-monthly. If you have a ""problem"" between your regularly scheduled sprays the WILL NOT HELP YOU!!!! I signed the guarantee because they are supposed to be the experts and help you be successful with growing your new lawn. These people, once they have your $$$, don't give a crap about you and your grass. They basically set you up to fail. DO NOT USE...BUYER BEWARE!!! more

DECEPTIVE WEB PAGE 8/12/2011

According to Sod Farms web page, a liquid fertilizer is applied within 30 days, and there is a limited 1 year guarantee. Not true. \r According to Sod Farms after the installation unless your signed contract specifys these web page items they are not included. I guess we are stupid. We thought what is on a web page is an automatic guarantee.\r Since a portion of the St Augustine installed, developed root rot and died we again have a dead lawn. Sod Farms refuses any responsibility. The $2525.00 we paid Sod Farms was not well spent.\r Avoid this company . I do not understand how they stay in business. more

Worst Customer Experience/Worst Sod/ 5/18/2011

This company is not even worth a ""Ehh"". Grass is only two months old...some parts never grew. Beware...they only guaranty one month. I had to fix all my sprinlkers. I had two diffenrent sprinkler companies come out and both told me that the sod company did not pull the old grass out. Terrible service. At the end the costumer service lady told me it was my responsability. This company can have a great website and 32 yrs into the business...not impressed at all. Before you buy sod...ask your lawn care company before you buy anything with this company. more

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE! 8/21/2010

I have a house for sale that is empty. My front yard has fallen into disrepair, requiring new St. Augustine sod. I was quoted a reasonable rate by Sod Farms of Pasco and even though I was hollered at by the lady behind the counter (older of the two who provide customer service?), I wrote it off as my fault for being a bit impatient with getting the quote from Frank (customer service guy) and decided to move ahead with the transaction. Sod Farms came to the house, sprayed out the old grass, then waited the required few days before installing 2400 sq. ft. of St. Augustine sod. Everything was done without notifying me in advance so I was not there when the work was done. As it turns out, they installed grass that was disease ridden (dark rust / purple color) and over 70% of the turf was dying within 2 weeks. I discussed the situation with Frank (customer service guy) who indicated the sod had some fungus, they would treat with fungicides and keep an eye on it. One week later I went to the house and to my surprise, 70% of the sod had been replaced, along with 1 destroyed sprinkler head, incapaciting a zone required to irrigate the sod. I went to the store on Ridge Road to ask why I wasn't told about the sod replacement and to ask about the sprinkler head, only to find out they were closed and on vacation for 2 weeks. Oh well, I fixed the head, made sure the irrigation was set to irrigate new sod (again!), and tried to be grateful that an attempt was made to fix the situation. As I had paid by credit card, I did have the opportunity to deny the charge (as I am sure Frank, customer service guy, was aware), but decided not to. Well here it is 4 weeks later, Sod Farms has been paid and the new sod has pretty much died. Frank (customer service guy) informs me that I have chinch bugs in the new sod and that this needs to be treated. He went as far as to say this should happen on a weekly basis if needed. Doesn't matter that the bugs came with the sod, my bad, not theirs!! As an ex-golf course superintendent and Class A member of the GCSAA, I have dealt wih turf and sod for years and know proper procedures and protocol for grasses and how to handle new sod. In addition, if an effective chemical is going to be used, restrictions on chemical applications makes Frank's (customer service guy) suggestion of weekly applications pretty much illegal. Long story short, Sod Farms utilized an empty house to unload damaged goods (twice) and then chose to insult the customers intelligence by saying their company is not at fault, nor responsible. Sod Farms is as bad as it gets and should be avoided at all costs!!! more

Bad sod, bad people, bad experience 6/14/2010

First order of 4 pallets was delivered a day late, after waiting all afternoon for the scheduled delivery. When I called the office 1 hour passed the delivery window, the man answering the phone said that he does not know exactly where his driver is, but he'll find out and call me right back (7PM). No call. Next day, around noon, truck shows up, without calling and drops off 4 pallets. Ordered 1 more pallet 2 weeks later, price has gone up by $20 without any reasonable explanation, except that: ""it must have been on sale before"". Next morning the truck shows up, drops of 1 pallet. The top row was upside down, with soil/roots facing upward. When I turned it over, the sod (or whatever it should be called) was all dark brown and some white. The soil did not have any moisture in it, instantly crumbling when picked up. Called the company, the young girl (receptionist?) said she'll find out what can be done and call me right back. 24 hours later, did not receive phone call. Stopped by their office, brought them pictures and a sample, the same young girl (recognized her voice) said she'll present it to her boss and he'll call me back, but could not say when, that he's very busy and drives all over the county. She said there is no way to reach him. Hard to believe in 21st century, in the age of Cell Phones! The whole time we were talking at the front counter, I could hear a man's voice (talking on a phone?) coming from office behind. When I asked if that's a manager, she said that's ""nobody"". That man even came out, walked right by me, not even acknowledging my presence in the office, went outside to look at the sample piece of sod I brought in and said that it looks fine, it just needs a week of watering. I asked him if he was the manger, he said no. Later that day I identified him on the internet as the owner, Frank F. Balogh. Now that's an owner of a business lying straight to a customer's face. Then a lady came in, with a clipboard in her hand and walked straight to the office and closed the door. When asked who was that, the young lady said that was their accountant. Now if that was true, their accountant must lay her own sod for a living. At that point the receptionist told me to leave or she'll call the police. Bad, bad, bad experience. If all they do is take people's money, that would explain the two Humve's parked in front of their shop. Their BBB rating is C+, should be more like F-. Hope this experience will help another potential customer to make a decision to NOT use ""Sod Farms of Pasco"" and go to their competition. Do your research and use anyone other than Sod Farms of Pasco. Pros: delivery? Cons: dead sod, bad customer service more

Sod Farms of Pasco sells dead sod and they don't replace it! 6/10/2010

Don't EVER do business with this company! Paid $945 for sod, it was delivered yellow & brown, they would not replace or refund. Lawn is DEAD and I'm out $945. They blocked my phone number and threaten to call the police when my husband goes there to ask for a replacement. Going to small claims court. Cons: delivered dead sod more

COMPLETE DISASTER. 6/9/2010

I ordered a pallet of sod and waited around all day with their rediculous 6hour delivery window to find out at 6:30pm I would not be recieving my sod. I expressed my frustration about not recieving my order to Frank at the Sod Farm and was hung up on. YES, I was hung up on in mid sentence without raising my voice or using vulgar lanuage. I was told I was waisting his time. Avoid the Sod Far . They do not appreciate your business. Do your homework, you will find alot more complaints about the sod farm on google. Pros: NO PROS Cons: DID NOT DELIVER MY SOD. COSTOMER SERVICE. more

WOW 4/13/2010

I went in to return my pallets and meet two cheerful woman. They treat you like a friend at that place. p.s. To the last guy. Stay Away! 4/7/2010

I made an appointment for someone to come to my home for an appointment on Saturday morning between 9am -11am. Well, it was 1pm, and still nobody showed up. I called the office, and was told ""oh, I'm sorry; the person that gives estimates does not work on Saturday's."" After wasting most of my day off waiting, I made another appointment for them to come out on the following Wednesday between 9am - 11am. Again, 1pm rolls around, and nobody had shown up. Again, I called the office, and was told ""oh, I'm sorry, the person that was supposed to come and give you an estimate called in sick, and you should have gotten a phone call."" That was 2 days that I waited around to give this company my business. If they gave me the job for free, I would never let them near my home! STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY! They must have plenty of work in this down economy to screw up the $2000.00 job I would have given them. If they cannot keep an appointment to get a job, do you really think they would be reliable once they get it??? DO NOT GIVE THIS COMPANY YOUR BUSINESS!!!!! Edit - Delete Pros: None! Cons: Read this review! more

WORST Sod I have ever dealt with - be aware 7/12/2009

I had owned a lawn maintenance company for 15 years and have seen a few good pallets of sod in the past. This past month I needed some sod for retention work being done. The 800 square feet of sod was delivered as promised, but the sod was barely alive. We placed it out anyway since it should not be seen by too many people, but if this had been a customer I would have had to completely remove the product and would have eaten labor for that day. The sod was mixed up in the pallet so that there were several layers of some badly yellowed sod mixed in with completely dead sod, then maybe 6 pieces of sod that had green in them surrounded by dead. I will not be doing business with this company ever ever ever again. There are just too many great businesses out there and I thought I would try someone up in Pasco to keep the economy pumping now that I am up here. My mistake. Big Mistake. I will try to add pictures if this website allows. Pros: Fast delivery Cons: My order was terrible, no Quality assurance there more

Fresh sod and Hard workers 2/19/2009

Like many people I lost my yard to to this past winters weather. I called every Sod company in the book for an estimate. Only 3 showed up. Sod farms gave us our estimate with in 2 days of our call. Susan the estimater was very nice and full of information , she gave us a complete itemized estimate explaing ever step they where going to do...She even showed us a video of their work. Very Impressed....Sod Farms was just a little higher, but workmanship and their sod was well worth it. We aslo hired them to do the lawn spraying too. \r Great people - Fresh Sod - GREAT HARD WORKERS\r Pros: Fast service, Great product more

buyer beware 9/23/2008

Contracted with Sod Farms to replace front and back lawns. They used fine, healthy green sod in the front, but installed sickly yellowing sod in the rear. When queried at the time of installation, they said that this was sod that was on the bottom of the pile, and would revive with watering. Three months later, the front is doing fine, but the rear is like death valley. \r When we requested replacement, Sod Farms wanted to extort another $800 to cover a maintenance program and labor costs. Having already paid $3000 for the job, we felt it should be replaced without cost. Sod Farms disagreed. \r \r We will go elsewhere to replace the back lawn...but if you are considering using Sod Farms, beware that they paint a rosy picture on the front end, but don't stand by their product on the other end. Pros: Good salesperson Cons: quality of sod not uniform; do not honor their commitment to a quality job more
