Great little Irish bar/restaurant 1/12/2011

I love Slane. Every time I go there it's like coming home to my local pub even though I don't live anywhere near the place. The staff is super-friendly, the food is solid and (on the weekends) the DJ good. They have a singer with a guitar in there sometimes too and he's a good sport. If you're looking for somewhere to chill in the West Village you can't do much better. One caveat: It's not a big place so sometimes it gets a little loud on the weekends if the crowd is - shall we say - "high spirited!" ;-) more

Okay, my boyfriend was RIGHT this one time! 7/1/2009

I don't say this often, but I think my boyfriend may be RIGHT this one time! He hangs out at this place Slane all the time, and finally after months of him pestering him to join him, I went to Slane for the first. And okay, he was right, the place is indeed nice, has a really cool deejay, and the TVs he's been raving about do indeed play the big games in a much better light than our TV at home. Fine Slane, you won me over, just like you won my boyfriend over months ago, now instead of him going there solo, I think you might start to see me more often as well. Two thumbs up Slane! Pros: Yummy food.... more

$1 Beers.....cool! 7/1/2009

Good place, HUGE TV screen for the game, and beers I can afford! Good stuff overall, I'll definately go back again. Pros: Good selection of beers, and for only a BUCK! more

Go for Happy Hour!!!! 6/30/2009

WOW. where else can you find beers on tap for $1?? My new fave sports bar in West Village. Multiple huge screens with great picture quality. I will definitely be catching all of my Mets games here from now on. Food is also surprisingly good. Pros: cheap drinks! huge screens! more

I love this bar!!! 6/25/2009

I've walked by Slane tons of times, but I've never gone inside. I'm glad I did this time, and now I know why its always so packed. The staff is so nice and helpful and I love their deejay. What a great time we all had. Pros: Great beer selection and very friendly bar staff. more

If you want variety, don't go here 5/18/2009

All you get is 80s music and an angry bartender. no buy backs. I overheard the owner saying not to play hip hop. I guess they're not too much multi cultural here. It seems like they're low rent Irish. Cons: Ignorant bar that doesn't play hip hop more

REAL GOOD BAR FOOD :~) 2/4/2009

SLANE has become my favorite spot in the village. I stopped in to grab some food and a fast beer the other day, expecting just usual crappy bar food, I sat at the bar and ordered the most amazing Nachos and with a nice happy bartender and great music I decided to go for another beer and order some more food, i ordered the salmon and OMG it was so tasty. Its been just over a week from my first visit at Slane and i have been back four times, trying sometime different every time (today was the chicken club and i will be back tomorrow for it, its amazing). Thank you to those @ Slane for tasty food and great beers and over all nice fun atmosphere. Pros: MENU, BARTENDERS, DRINK, HAPPY HOUR, more

Great bar and atmosphere! 3/17/2008

I love this place. The bartenders are great -- I go there some Fridays after work. The DJ is excellent and he's a riot, too - he's like a combo of Jack Black and Silent Bob. Definitely recommend! Pros: Great DJ and fun bartenders. The owner Glenda is great! more

Great Service 12/6/2006

Slane hosted a party of about 30 for my wife's birthday. The were great all around - the place, food, service, music and the DJ. We had a blast and would definately recommend it for anyone just stopping for a drink or throwing a small party. Glenda is the best! Pros: Crowd, Music more

Great Food, Awesome Service 12/6/2006

I would like to call myself a regular at this establishment as I frequent it at least once a week! The Bangers and Mash and Glendas Homemade Lasange are but two of my favs. Friday nights are hopping with the new Video DJ! Last but not lease, my favourite irish bartender Joanna is single!! Watch this space! more

GARLIC MUSHROOMS!!!! GREAT FOOD! 11/7/2006

Slane is a great place to hang, ESPECIALLY your current team is playing! I'm a local, but everytime I've gone I've met people from all over the world (besides the Irish bar tenders). What most people don't realize however, is that Slane has some AMAZING food!!! The garlic mushrooms are to DIE for!!! I get them delivered for lunch at least once or twice a week. Don't miss out on their special deals, like 2 for 1 appies, depending on what day of the week it is! Pros: AMAZING FOOD! Cons: Can be loud, but what pup isn't!? more

Pros: Lively, Fun people, Attentive staff more

The Kingdom 3/22/2006

This place rocks. No red velvet, no attitude, just excellent victuals, service and vibe. Joanna, Padraigh, Ann and Cathal make for the warmest, most solicitous team of bartenders I've had the pleasure of encountering in my thirty-something years in New York. And then, of course, there's the clientele, whose ranks include the adorable (and painfully single) author of this review. What more could anyone want? more

good times 2/23/2006

Went to Slane to meet up with a few friends ended up staying all day and all nite bar tenders are fun, helpful & the live music was great. This place I would recommend to people of all ages as it would suit all. hope you have as good as time as i did. Had the fish & chip there not too bad either. Pros: food, happy hour, the bartenders Cons: it closed at 4 more

IT'S ALL TRUE - THE IRISH LOVE TO DRINK!! 1/29/2006

I stumbled across Slane on Saturday afternoon with a couple of my girlfriends and we didn't leave til 1am! This place is brilliant! Joanna the bartender wowed us with her alcoholic concoctions and her funny banter with a group of guys at the other end of the bar. I have to say I honestly never post reviews but I felt compelled to after the excellent time we had here! It was like stepping into a time warp! I didn;t want to leave! My girls and I are planning our next Saturday outing ... 3 guesses where we are going!!! THNAKYOU JOANNA AND PADRAIGH! You guys ROCK! Love, Jules and Gang Pros: Great Atmostphere, Drink Specials!, Joanna and PADRAIGH! more

What a FINE Place indeed!! 1/29/2006

Saturday 28th January was my birthday. What wasn't supposed to be a crazy night turned out to be the best birthday night EVER! Arrived at Slane around 11pm and the place was already buzzing with atmostphere. The music was a mixture of 80's, POP, and what really got me going was Journey and "Don't Stop Believing" ... The bar erupted into song!! It was just like one big Karoke. The bartenders were excellent and cute!! I would highly recommend Slane. Thankyou Guys for making my birthday so memorable. I will definately be back. more

Perhaps a hidden gem in the manhattan bar scene. 1/15/2006

I honestly had a very enjoyable experience at Slane last night. The drink service was top notch and it had a great atmosphere. There is a bar area up front, and the rest of the place has tables with candles (which we kept blowing out by accident), with a cool blend of 80's and 90's retro music playing. For a saturday night it had the perfect crowd size, you had plenty of space to freely walk around, but the place was definitely happening with plenty of people. I'd say the crowd ranged from people aged between 21 - 30. We showed up around 10, and had no problems getting a table. We were a group of 4, and 8 beers, 6 shots, 4 rum and cokes, and 3 margaritas somehow only cost 113 dollars...you seriously cannot beat that for manhattan. The perfect place to spend a sat night, recommend it! Pros: drink service, crowd size, atmosphere more

Great Time--and Shot Girls! 10/2/2005

They have the hottest shot girls at this place! The bartenders and cocktail waitresses are wonderful. The drinks are reasonably priced, and the music selection is great. Pros: Music, Shot Girls! more

What a Find! 8/31/2005

Slane is fantastic. My friends and I stumbled upon it the other day, and we had such a great time. It was on a weekday, and it was very mellow, but there were definitely cute guys there, not to mention the MacDougal Street people-watching. We also loved the live music -- such a nice touch. Oh, and the curry chicken dinner was outstanding. Yum. Pros: excellent live music, friendly staff, fun atmosphere Cons: n/a more
