Best

Wow, I don't know why everyone on here seems to be against this place...did they go to a different restaurant? I've never had anything but good experiences when I've visited this...

Worst

The food is quite overpriced but expected for the location of the restaurant. Personally I will never return simple due to the tremendously rude staff.

Wow, I don't know why everyone on here 4/10/2012

Wow, I don't know why everyone on here seems to be against this place...did they go to a different restaurant? I've never had anything but good experiences when I've visited this location, and I've visited this location a handful of times since it's been open. We've always had great sushi, great Saki, and great service! I did have a server who messed up on the bill once, but the problem was taken care of promptly by the manager, which is what you should do in that situation, so I have no complaints. Sidenote: The fire pit in the bar is great for ambiance on a date too. more

ICK- horrible customer service 1/4/2010

Too bad there is no 0 or - rating. Terrible management! I've spent way too much money here - no more!! more

Gross. 12/30/2009

I've eaten here twice before at the Clackamas location, but it wasn't anything special. On my third, and final, visit the service was extremely slow. I asked for additional wasabi and didn't receive it until I had finished all of my sushi; there was no point in bringing it to me then. The sushi was definitely not fresh and didnt taste good at all. Pros: Interior decorating Cons: Service, food more

Terrible!!!! 12/20/2009

I have never taken the time to write a review, but was compelled to sit and take the time to voice our exceedingly poor experience at this pathetic excuse for a restaurant! The sushi was smelly and old. The service, excruciatingly slow....!!! Cons: The worst dining experience my family and I have ever had!! more

Do not eat roten sushi or old food 11/9/2009

Hello, I am from japan and all of the staff is korean. I don't mind that they our but they do not understand japanese food! I ate there many times and the food is of bad quality and the crab isnnt real. Why do they put old food on the plates and serve it mayonaise/cream on everthing more

Terrible customer service, inconsistant quality 9/15/2009

Asthetically, Sinju is a gem. Very swish and trendy, with a modern Japanese fusion interior. As I live (and work) very close by, Sinju was one of my often-frequented restaurants. The sushi is usually fresh and creative, and the other Japanese dishes remind me of the foods I ate when I lived in Kobe, Japan. Pros: Asthetically pleasing environment Cons: Rude staff, long waits, inconsistant quality of food more

Good sushi, nice place 4/8/2009

I eat at Sinju at least once a week. The sushi rolls and nigiri are very good, tempura is great, tofu items are borderline great (even for a meat eater like me). The music they play is the worst ever. I don't mean a little bad. I mean terrible, like ""nails on a chalk board"", ""cat caught its tail in a meat grinder"" bad. It's some sub-par, home-spun, karaoke-grade reggae that never seems to end. But, the sushi is really enjoyable and the servers are all very, very friendly. It's nice to get good service with a big smile. Pros: Good sushi rolls & nigiri, decent prices Cons: awful awful awful music more

Horrible environment, no one speaks english.. 10/3/2008

our waitress didn't know any english and didn't even offer her name, the boss of the place looked as if he was angry and started to yell@our server in some other language in front of our family dinner! it was a nice ambiance, but horrible overpriced food and have only heard bad things from this moment forward. will never go back again.. Pros: ambiance Cons: pretty much everything more

Terrible customer service - food mediocre 3/12/2008

The food was not that great. Usually I don't send food back....actually NEVER. I did in this instance, and the waiter asked me if I wanted to take it home. I explained, no why would I take it home if I didn't like it. He came back after speaking with the manager and the manager said they could not adjust it off the bill. One of the items i also got (spicy tuna) was really not great. I did not attempt to send that back....good thing I guess. Live and learn. I would have given it another try because it is so close to my house, but since the cs was so bad, I wouldn't attempt to go back. Two thumbs down! Pros: Convenient to my house Cons: Bad Customer service. more

What is all the fuss about? 2/24/2008

First, I agree with the person above. The customer service is terrible. To make matters worse, their sushi is NOT fresh....you want fresh, go to Gaya's off of Burnside. Sinju doesn't even come close to that place. To make matters worse, my whole family got the Norwalk virus from eating there and was sick as dogs for a few days. Unfortunately, we decided to try one more time several months later. A fluke? I wish. My finance got sick again, and I'm not feeling all that great as I write this. We will never go there again. Pros: ambience is good, but that is the only thing I can come up with Cons: sushi is not fresh, service is lousy, it's expensive, we have been sick from eating there 2 out of 2 times. more

My favorite Sushi place so far! 1/23/2008

Sinju is a great dining experience! The food is wonderful, always fresh, always delicious. The atmosphere is very trendy/L.A. and the lighting is awesome. My girlfriends and I have made this our sushi spot. Pros: great bar. Cons: not great for family dining. more

TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE 7/22/2007

On a not so busy Sunday night, we decided to go to Sinju and enjoy some fresh sushi. We were seated and not greeted until after 20 minutes, when I tracked down a waitress. She apologized and said she thought someone else took our order for her. (We still had our menus and nothing else). After ordering, we waited for another 20 minutes without anything, until a table sitting acrossed from us asked if we were STILL waiting. They explained that their reservation was given away and that we weren't being picked on. We decided to go tell a manager as he would probably want to know how his staff was doing, right? Wrong. Instead he replied, ""okay"" and let us leave as two very dissatisfied customers. So, if you are expecting great service...good luck. As for the food???? Pros: ??? Cons: Terrible customer service and long wait times for everything more

Best Sushi so far in Portland! 5/19/2007

We just moved to the area from Los Angeles and were spoiled by a number of high end sushi places in L.A. With that being said this place is one of the best we have been to bar none. The ambience, the service and the food were all spectacular! The restaurant got VERY crowded and we still had a very attentive waitress who came by every 10 to 20 minutes....drinks always full and always asking if we wanted anything else...very nice! Great place to go before or after a movie! Pros: Service, ambience and food Cons: Got crowded, not a romantic setting. more

Gorgeous little Japanese restaurant , great food and service, park in structure or use valet service 12/20/2006

Sinju's stunning interior has an austere elegance about it, and a quiet Zen-like ambiance. My husband and I had lunch on a weekend day and the food was quite good. The service was friendly, polite, and very efficient. Our meal at Sinju's wasn't just ""eating out""; it was an lovely experience. We'll be going back. TIP: If the shopping center is quite busy, and you don't want to use valet service, just head to the top of Bridgeport's parking structure. Walk down to street level; the restaurant is just across the street, same block as the cinemas. Pros: Food, service, ambiance, parking more
