We eat here every month and love it! 5/16/2006

My sweetheart and I eat here about once a month and have known the owner for years. We bring out of twoners here to try something unique and yummy, and they always want to return. Everyone I have ever taken to this spot has loved it. The menu is diverse and offers a lot for vegiterians to choose from. We will keep coming back and bring friends with us for as long as they stay open!!!!! Pros: easy parking, great food, friendly staff more

Disappointing 5/30/2004

Having moved to Minneapolis from Singapore, I was eager to check out the Singapore Chinese Cuisine and I went to both their outlets to have dinner. It was a completely disappointing experience, the menu is hardly singaporean and they do not have any of the popular dishes. Of the few that they have, the cook(s) made mockery out of the dishes. The lady in charge and staff had no idea what Singaporean Chinese food was and I highly doubt that she has ever been to Singapore in the first place!!! Call it anything else BUT Singaporean please. You are an embarrasment to all Singaporeans. Cons: , poorly cooked, incompetent staff more

Aviod if you are from SE Asia 7/11/2003

This restaurant has the WORST South East Asian food I have ever tasted in the United States. Not only are the dishes NOT authentic, they are also salty! I recommend all natives from South East Asia to skip this restaurant and head for their local McDonalds. Pros: Inexpensive Cons: FOOD more

Awesome! 7/1/2003

I'm a frequent visitor to the Singapore restaurant, and I would have to say my experiences there are very different that most of the other posts. I thoroughly enjoy their foods, and am always greated with a warm smile. My favorite eats are the steamed dumplings which have an excellent dipping sauce, assam chicken, house special two flavor chicken, and kung pao chicken. I have never seen toys strewn about the restaurant, but have seen the owners children around the restaurant. They have always been well-behaved and have never disrupted my dining experience. Overall, this is a MUST TRY restaurant!! Pros: incredible food, "homey" atmosphere, large portions Cons: non-authentic decor more

Decent 2/28/2003

I was impressed with the menu selection, which seemed to represent quite a few of Malaysia's traditional dishes. My companion and I each had the Captain's curry with chicken and a chicken satay appetizer. This curry is made from 27 spices and is very complex and flavorful, however it was very oily. The chicken satay was slightly on the bland side, and the peanut sauce needed something. The decor ranges from tall plants and paper screens, to a child's toys strewn around and family pictures, presumably of the owners. Service was a little spotty. With such a big selection, I definitely would go back Pros: range of choices, unique alternative Cons: food was oily more

Absolutely worst Malaysian food ever 9/27/2002

Absolutely worst Malaysian food I've ever had! Their "rendang" is actually just curry. If they had called it curry I would say it was pretty good, but it's listed as rendang on their menu. I felt cheated. We also ordered "sambal sayur-sayuran". I expected mixed chinese vegitables, instead the dish came with carrots, brocolli and other American vegitables. Yuck! What happened to bok choy, bean sprouts, kai lan, or hollow vegitables?! When the waiter himself does not know how to pronounce their own Malaysian dishes listed in their menu, I should have known it was going to be bad. I've been to several restaurants that serves Malaysian food all over the country and I must say that I'm truely dissapointed with this restaurant. Cons: Very Expensive, Bad Food more

pretty authentic 9/20/2002

I'd say it was pretty authentic in my mind even though it's the first time i've ever tried malaysian food. Based on another reviewer, I tried the Assam Lemak (hot, spicy, tangy cocunut cream sauce) with seafood. Nice portions of squid and shrimp. My girlfriend tried the egg kway teow (chicken & calamari stir fried with pan fried noodles). Overall very good and we can't wait to come back again to try the other dishes. It's almost like a mix of thai and chinese cuisine but the sauces are more soupy than most chinese sauces. Overall, a positive experience. more
