Editorial review from Citysearch 2/15/2014

Saw Endless Love yesterday. Alex Pettyfer did great acting, though I am disappointed that he is still portraying a sick-love teenager as he did in I am Number Four three or four years ago. Alex is an 18 year old teenager in Endless Love, but his real age must be in his middle to late twenties [or perhaps older]. Perhaps this is the time to move on to more mature roles, Alex, you have the talent. more

Alice in San Francisco 7/24/2010

Came here a while back (March) to see Alice in Wonderland. There was a giant line, so we sat around waiting to go inside. Once we were in, I was pleasantly surprised to see that the theatre was very large. Everyone was wearing their 3D glasses, munching on tasty movie popcorn, and enjoying an old classic remade. The movie was just OK, but I definitely like the theatre, especially since it is right next to a 38 bus stop. more

Avoid this place 3/31/2010

I am never going to this theater again. I purchased tickets to a movie for tonight 5 days in advance in person at the theater. The movie just opened and has been selling out like crazy. I checked the website today to see if additional friends could get tickets and found out they switched the movie time. I called the theater and according to the ass clown on the phone my tickets are now invalid. Now I have to haul my ass to the theater in the middle of a work day to ensure I can even get in. F**CK YOU VAN NESS THEATHER! Cons: THEY ARE MORONS more

Great seating and surround sound 12/1/2009

Great seating and surround sound. You don't have to strain you neck to see over people and the seats are arranged in hill formation where it's comfortable no-strain on your neck to view the screen. If you go watch any action flick especially, you're absolutely bound to get your money's worth. Oh yes, have I mentioned it's only a block away from my house? Super convenient. more

Great theater! 9/11/2009

Great theater! Great parking - convenient, but a tad expensive. Also, the gym I used to belong to, I believe, is at the same building. I say used to, because I've given up on that. Now I eat hot buttered popcorn at the theater. Extra salt and butter please! Pros: Great theater! more

The theater itself and the restrooms are clean 9/9/2009

Lots of reviews for this cinema! I love AMC Van Ness 14 on Van Ness! They do have blockbuster movies, on lots of screens. They sometimes have independent movies, international movies in Spanish, French and many other languages too. The theater itself and the restrooms are clean. They have hand dryers in the restrooms it's good for the environment and the trees. Pros: The theater itself and the restrooms are clean more

Complete Theater 6/22/2009

Very comfortable theater with lots of leg room and reclining seats with a high back rest. Many screens for multiple shows makes it very convenient. Pros: Best seats in town Cons: Crowded more

AMC 1000 Van Ness, a great place to go with kids 11/13/2007

This is such a fun movie theater. Young children love the escalators, and the wide variety of movies shown there. It's very accessible by public transportation which is great because parking can be a hassle at this theater--the parking lot fills up quickly on the weekends. Lots of food options on Van Ness. more

Favorite theater in SF 3/24/2005

This is my favorite theater in SF - great location and great building. It's amazing that they can fit so many theaters in this building since it looks so small from the outside. Good stadium seating and sound system. Parking is underground and very tight - take a while to exit after a big crowd. more

My favorite! 5/24/2004

This is my favorite theatre in the city! The rocking love seats, the leg room, the huge screens and the sound system! LOVE IT! It's also the only theatre I know that allows outside food, so I can bring in my own bag of chips and soda. The only problem is that everyone else seems to love this place too because lines get really long, so if you plan to catch a flick here, arrive early. Also, I take public transportation because parking is really bad here unless you don't mind paying $6+ for garage parking. Pros: comfy seats, legroom, outside food permitd Cons: , long lines more

Like It! 1/24/2004

We always enjoy watching a movie here. The problem is that the lines always seem to be long. We have found a solution recently by going to the restaurant in the lobby first. While enjoying some pre-movie snacks there, we asked the waitress if she could help get the tickets for us. To our surprise, she said 'yes"" cheerfully and we got the tickets before finishing up the snacks! What a great way to start the evening with my girl friend. more

My thoughts of AMC 1000 10/26/2003

A lot of residents of the Bay Area say that AMC 1000 is......How should I say, make you experience coming here a living nightmare. I usually try to come here on matinee weekdays are the best. Weekends are horrible. Crowds can be the worst. When is AMC gonna stop w/ the showing of commercials? But the HUGE downside of AMC is their parking set up. The machines that they have set up sometimes doesnt work. And when it does, its very picky on accepting dollar bills you are trying to insert. Pros: stadium seating, movie selections, weekday matinees Cons: crowds, teenagers more

Watch Movie Free 9/4/2003

I love watching movies and I am delighted to discover that I can get a free movie voucher for any AMC movie just by having a reasonably priced dinner in the lobby. Too bad they don't advertise this deal more. I now watch a movie every week. Pros: Free Movie more

Parking Rates 7/6/2003

Apart from the fact that all the concessions areas except one were closed, making the lines ridiculous, the theater itself was OK. The problem was the parking. Since the first showing of the movie was sold out, we decided to wait for the next one. That meant, by the time we got to the exit of the garage, we were just over the 4 hour limit (in the small print). For that we had to pay the full $17 parking rate - almost as much again as our tickets for the show. Never again. AMC has lost my businees - I'll use Century Theatres in future where the parking is always free. Cons: Expensive Parking, Limited Staffing, Poor Snack Service more

Coffee 2/14/2003

How can you have 14 screens and no COFFEE !!! more

SUCKS~ 1/18/2003

This place is the worst in the city...second only to the metreon. The lines could not possibly be any longer, and the place is utter chaos. I was there a couple of weeks ago and there were about 15 different lines for different things, an noone could even figure out which line was for what. To top it off, they now run pre-movie commercials in addition to the movie trailers. No exaggeration, when I saw Adaptation to weeks ago we waited through 35 minutes of commercials and trailers before the movie came on.. and this for $10??? (yes, 10 when you include the required moviephone fee if you actually want to get a ticket). No thanks, I'll stay at home and rent the DVD. Pros: they have movies, not a prison, not contagious Cons: long lines, expensive, chaotic more

Pearl Tea in the lobby! 7/12/2002

As a high school student near AMC1000, you can probably imagine that I go to the movies quite often. I was pleasantly surprised to discover pearl milk tea being sold in the lobby! It's absolutely awesome! They make all the drinks fresh and have this kool little sealer to close it up. I usually grab a few and throw it in my purse before I head into a movie. The AMC theaters are really nice about letting you bring in pearl tea into the movies. I must say, having Pearl Tea here makes my movie experience THAT much better! Pros: Pearl Milk tea, TeaZONE!, boba tea! Cons: sticky ground more

It's about time! 5/30/2002

I finally had a good customer service experience here. I went to see Spiderman and some idiot talked on his cell phone the whole time. Of course, no one did anything about it, so I finally went out and got an employee. She got him out of the theatre and then gave everyone in the theatre a free pass at the end of the movie. Good job! That is how it should be. This made me want to give more business. more

Good Show 5/23/2002

Very nice stadium-seating theatre. And a fairly good restaurant in the lobby level with a nice bar. Worth a visit. more
