Editorial review from Citysearch 12/6/2013

We were in for dinner tonight, which we visit about once a month. I always order the King size Prime Rib. Tonight I have to tell you, I am not sure we will be back! I made the mistake of answering yes when the waitress ask if I cared to have it seered on the grill! The cook BUTTERFLIED MY 21.00 PIECE OF PRIME AND COOKED IT LIKE A STEAK! Why would someone EVER do that WITHOUT ASKING THE GUEST IF THAT'S OKAY! seriously, it took all the juice out of the meat, the bottom piece of butterfield meat was about an 1/8 of inch thick, and if I wanted a steak I would've ordered a t-bone! they were gracious enough to take the dinner off our bill, but it kinda ruined the dinner of which I have maybe one to two nights a month that I that I am not too busy to go out to eat! We use to visit the Outback on Ina, but it has seriously went down hill also! Not sure where we will go now? The poor server was shocked when I handed her the 20.00 tip, and said she could accept it, but I quickly told her it was NOT her fault, IT WAS THE COOK! more

Great ribs & steak; fresh salad bar 2/16/2012

We wanted to try a new rib place. The location is interesting, but the Mesquite bbq smell from the parking lot makes up for it. The place is rustic--just what I expect from a good rib/steak house. It's casual but the wait staff was friendly and efficient. The open pit grill was a wonderful touch. The salad bar is well worth it--cold plates, fresh, crispy lettuce, with a wide variety of items, including potato salad, slaw, carrot salad, and crab salad, with all the dressing and toppings. The touch I loved was not only a wetnap, but a finger bowl and towels to clean off the delicious bbq sauce. And don't forget the Mud Pie! Big enough for 2, maybe even 4, but delicious and well served. Since we had a bit of a celebration, the staff put a candle in it for a nice effect. We definitely will be returning. more

Good food at a good price 12/11/2008

I'm here for a few days on business and wanted a steak. I was a little taken aback at the outside, but parked (not the best lot to navigate) and went in. The staff was friendly, helpful, and attentive. The food (I had the combo - 1/4 chicken, steak, and ribs - get it dipped!) was very good and it was a good value. The only weak item was the French Onion soup - not bad, but I've had better, and though the beans were done well, it just wasn't my taste. However, I'll be back. Pros: Food and Service Cons: Parking more

Pleasant Surprise 10/23/2008

For our wedding anniversary, we decided to go to CattleTown (reviewed separately, suffice to say, don't go there). Our GPS led us to the Silver Saddle as an alternate and we had a bit of a chuckle as we pulled up. But we agreed to give it a chance. I'm glad we did! The food is very good and well-priced. Our waitress (if you're reading this, I apologize, I should have noted your name) was friendly and attentive. I agree that the mud pie seems wonderful. My wife ordered it, but I don't do desserts and it was way too much for one. We sliced it in two and sent half back to the kitchen for the staff to enjoy. I'd rather do that than let it get thrown away. In any event, we'll be back! Pros: Friendly personal service Cons: French onion soup a little salty more

termite problem 8/13/2008

I used to eat there regularly untill I got to know the owners. I asked them what is being done about there temite problem after I had another run in with one. Ruban (the owner) told me he was spraying the place himself. They are cheap and refuse call a profesonal to take care of their termite problem. I got tired of seeing them on the walls and under tables. Their food is good, but I'd rather have the quality of food that is both good and clean. Pros: You'll get a miskeet taste Cons: With a side of termite limbs more

Best Steak House in Tucson 3/8/2008

The Silver Saddle by far is the best steak house I have been to in Tucson. The food is great and the price is less expensive than any other steak house. Other steak houses you have to ala carte the potatoe or salad and at the Silver Saddle it comes with the meal. They have a french onion soup to die for and you always have to save room for their MUD PIE! The staff is very friendly and they treat you like family. I can go on but I hope you get the point....So if you are ever want a great meal I highly recommend the Silver Saddle. Pros: everything was perfect Cons: can't think of any.. more

Great Steak 9/20/2007

As a family of unrepentent carnivores, Silver Saddle was a huge surprise- wonderful food- steaks, prime rib with very nice service. Place is jammed on the weekends, so reservations are necessary and the location and parking leave lots to be desired. -but who cares when the food is good. My sons and husband are steak lovers and I like prime rib. That open pit grill is great. I like my meat medium rare and it has -in our last 6 visits- always been done that way. sons and hubbt like well done-which cane be tough if not cooked properly- and I have never once heard a negative- the only sounds were like cows in a feed trough! Pros: service and food Cons: location and parking more

Was OK, not worth repeating 8/12/2007

Average, and I was expecting more. From the outside, smells delicious, inside was dark, old atmososphere. My meal was tasty- grilled meat is good but the portion not very big, the potatoe burned, with fake cheese! The salad bar was running low and wilty. My son had the hamburger- totally average...thin unseasoned meat and undercooked fries. Well it wont be on my ""must return"" lists. Staff not too concerned. Cons: dark parking, bad area of town, run down more

Not so great- average at best 5/9/2007

The menu was overpriced, the place dingy dirty, and the air quality was poor! We went on a Friday and it was busy, the waitress was rushed and thus the service sucked. Me and my date wanted more drinks but the waitress didnt come around enough...and when she did she was too phoney-baloney and didnt bother to address the drink issue. I had the sirloin and it was ok, the meat I thought could have been bettter qualtiy but had good flavor, my date had the T-bone and I thought it was too thin. what the heck? Maybe it just was a vendor issue but we went off the reviews from this site and the place didnt quite measure up like I thought they would. Pros: They have a full bar Cons: smokey atmosphere, dirty, pricey for what you get more

Wonderful! 1/30/2006

Reading the number of positive reviews, I just had to try this restaurant. I went on a Saturday night. Definitely make a reservation on weekends - many people without them were waiting for an hour. The food was wonderful and the ambience very casual. Two of us got stuffed for just over $50 - what a great value! Definitely get your BBQed meat dipped for better flavor. Beware - the cheese on the baked potato is like Cheeze Whiz and not real grated cheese. I will definitely return! Pros: food, easy to find, value Cons: staff was rushed, parking more

Best Steaks and Service 1/5/2006

The smell of mesquite as you get out of your vehicle is immediately an attention getter. As you get inside you are greeted with a smile by the hostess. As busy as they are, our wait was no more than 10 minutes. While waiting we decided to go to the lounge. Whoa, nice and comfortable atmosphere. Beautiful bar made out of mesquite wood with inlay of strips of wood. Cooking in an open pit over mesquite caught our attention. Ribs, chicken, steaks, prime rib, and burgers covered the grill. The salad bar is a help yourself with about 16 different selections and all fresh and appealing. We had the New York steak and the sampler platter, which includes a steak, ribs, and chicken. Great tasting food, service with a smile, good prices, nice atmosphere, and a memorable and pleasant experience. Thank you Silver Saddle. You are the best. Pros: Service with a smile, Great food, comfortable & clean more

Beats any steakhouse in town! 12/27/2005

Have eaten at the Silversaddle several times, never to be disappointed in the quality of food or service at a very reasonable price. This small out and not so out of the way estalishment is a delight to visit. Pros: excellant steaks, prompt service Cons: limited parking more

WonderFul Steak 12/21/2005

I have never heard of Silver Steakhouse until I went there on a company meeting. The steak I had was excellent in fact I called my husband right after leaving there and told him I had to take him there the food was excellent and so was the price. Loved the old west look and feel to the place. Pros: Great Atmosphere, great value , friendly waitress Cons: Salad bar small more

Where the ""locals"" go 11/30/2005

I have been to this restaurant a half dozen times, sometimes with guests. The food is always great and the prices reasonable. Porterhouse and the prime rib are excelant! Wait staff very courtious and prompt. Only mishap was when the gall dumped the prime rib juice on my wife's lap! I know that I will return! Pros: Beef, Salad bar, Quick seating Cons: Bathroom more

Have asthma? STAY AWAY!!! 11/9/2005

An open pit style cooker is NOT the place for you if you have any kind of breathing problems. The smoke in this joint was so thick you could ACTUALLY cut with one of their dirty steak knives. The smoke was hanging in the restaurant with no way to escape! We had to leave and my wife had to do her rescue inhaler to breath again. The waitress was loud and obnoxious and it is clear why this place is not on any list for best ANYTHING. I have no idea what those other 6 reviews are about, but this place is NOT a comfortable dining experience at all. We had always heard about it, so we thought we'd try it. It's over-rated and their prices are extreme. Non-smokers beware! You'll have your lungs filled with toxins in no time in this place! Cons: smoke in air, waitress obnoxious, prices too high more

Wonderful Steak! 10/17/2005

Was turned onto this Steak house by a friend and I was like... it's a hole in the wall, but it's actually really nice inside and the food is wonderful. The Open pit Grill is great and the cook will even describe the cuts to you while they're cooking so you know what you might like to order. Salad bar is adequate (won't say it's great, but it's a salad bar!) Appetizers are fantastic as well. Usually I leave stuffed and never have room for dessert. Pros: Excellent food for $$, Friendly more
