The shubert theater is a wonderful place to go instead of having to travel all the way to the city. The prices are well worth the performances. I saw cats there once and the theater is amazing its very clean and our seat were great. I get excited every time I hear when something great is playing! more

Just like Broadway! 8/20/2005

The Shubert is a taste of Broadway right in New Haven -- and you're spared the 2 hour commute to New York City! The ticket prices reflect this, though -- it isn't cheap. But the theater is gorgeous, the performances are absolutely top-notch, and it comes with all the frills you'd expect from a fancy theater -- the boxes, the balcony, etc. It's a great place, and one of New Haven's cultural treasures. Highly recommended -- definitely take in at least one show there once in a while! more

more Broadway shows 8/20/2005

Shubert Performing Arts Center was usually quiet when I walked past there. Most people just used their huge carpark. But local cultural venues need more support. Nowadays they seem to import Broadway shows more frequently, and it is possible to find prices lower than New York’s. I saw the off-Broadway show STOMP there a few years back, and I enjoyed the experience. more

A little piece of broadway. 8/15/2005

You don't have to travel to new york city just to enjoy a little bit of live entertainment. Although the theater is not as flashy or large as those on broadway, it offers all the excitement of the big stage. Prices are also more modest. They always have a wide variety of shows going on. What a great asset to have in our own backyard. more

Broadway Style 8/13/2005

Shubert theatre brings all the Broadway shows to Connecticut. It's a live theatre and generally has shows such as Cats, Rent, and all the huge hits that have hit Broadway. This isn't a regional theatre like Long Wharf Theatre. This has the bigger shows, while Long Wharf usually has plays and small musicals. This theatre is absolutely huge. There are 3 balcony levels. I don't recommend the top balcony. It's hard to see the performance and you will definitely feel like you are in the nose bleed section. They often have concerts and guest "Stars" that will perform in their shows. Their ticket prices are comparable with NY ticket prices, and they don't have coupon days or cheaper nights. more
