Apparently don't want my business 10/27/2011

A few weeks ago, I stopped by the Shoemaker office after seeing their sign on a property I was interested. Out of the group of 5-6 employees working there, no one seemed interested in helping me at first. After being bounced from one employee to another, eventually someone took down my contact info on a yellow legal pad. I was told that I would be contacted about the property I was interested in in the near future. After a week had passed, and I still hadn't heard anything, I decided to call back. Initially, I had trouble getting through to them during normal business hours, which I found a little odd. When I eventually contacted someone, I was again asked for my contact information, and asked to come in to pick up a key and fill out an application. I was also told that the house in question would not be available for 3 weeks, and that I had plenty of time to do so. I made an appointment to come by two days later to drop off my application and pick up the house key. Two days later, as agreed upon, I took off work early in order to drop off my application and see the house. After taking my check, I was told to come back later to pick up the key to see the house because they wanted to go home early. I thought this was rather peculiar, and certainly unprofessional, so I said that I would really prefer to see the house that day. When the man I was working with went to look for the key, he couldn't find it anywhere. As it turns out, the house had already been rented! This was despite my multiple phone calls and office visits, and the repeated verbal and written agreement we had made for me to rent this house. Even better, at this point they tried to keep my application fee! I was asked to come back and apply for a different property instead. This is truly the most disorganized, unprofessional, and rude property management company I've ever encountered, and I will never do any business with them again. more

Good initial experience, then lack of follow through 6/11/2009

I had a fountain with two pumps that wasn't working. One power cord needed to be spliced. In addition, it needed a cleaning. Ben came out and did a good initial job on the cleaning, and was able to get the splice done so the fountains worked. The price was steep ($750), and I could have had two new pumps installed for about that, but I figured it was worth paying him to make sure the job was done right. Well the chemicals he put in the water ended up doing their job, and caused a significant amount of sediment to build up in the bottom of the fountain, which no one returned to vacuum out, (and which I reasonably would have expected for what I paid). about a month later, one of the pumps died. He dropped by and sprayed some water into the pump. Still no vacuuming of the sediment. A couple of weeks later, both pumps stopped working. Except that Ben will now not answer or return calls placed from multiple numbers. I find this unprofessional, and received no response even when I said I would have no choice but to leave a poor review. Since the service, a couple of service people have attributed the lost pumps to sediment that was not vacuumed properly. Unfortunately, while I was initially pleased with the service, the follow through was lacking, and I cannot recommend this company. Pros: Good initial experience Cons: lack of follow through more
