Editorial review from Citysearch 10/22/2012

Showed the temperamental Sherwin a skin eruption on the face & he prescribed ""Neosporin!"" Returned mos later, pointing again to the enlarged surface & finally got the biopsy that revealed basal cell carcinoma. Returned for a check-up with another (better) doctor at TSC. . . & he's since left that practice! more

Horrible Man 4/20/2012

I was considering Accutane, and as a college student, was a bit worried about going six months with a single drop of alcohol. I voiced this concern to him on the couple of occasions I saw him. The last time I saw him, my parents came along just to see what kind of care I was receiving. With absolutely no warning, he demanded of my parents point-blank whether or not they thought I was an alcoholic, while I was sitting right there in front of them. It was one of the most humiliating, excruciating experiences of my life. I suppose he was jumpy because he thought he might get sued. I very much hope that he does get sued. He is irresponsible and cruel. more

Great experience 9/9/2011

I have to admit, I was shocked to read these reviews. After having a really bad experience with my previous dermatologist (waited over an hour to see a phys asst just to get a scrip- always a long wait to see dr, etc.), I received a reco from two friends to see Dr. Parikh. H saw me exactly on time (!) for a thorough skin/mole check and answered all of my other skin-related issues/questions. I didn't feel rushed at all- I think he spent about 20 mins with me, and didn't push product or cosmetic stuff at all (this was another complaint about my previous doctor). I was really happy with my experience and will be going back to him again for sure. more

Horrible 2/14/2011

This is honestly the worst MD I have ever seen in my life. They are more into doing cosmetic procedures than anything covered by insurance. II found Parikh very condescending and not willing to listen to my problems. Poor customer service, but very fast billing. You will have to provide a credit card number before you see Parikh. God forbid that they have to bill you. more

worst doctor I've ever seen 6/25/2010

Didn't listen to my concerns and dismissed my questions. Failed to address my medical issue entirely. His manner was unpleasant. Wished I had read the other reviews and stayed away. Cons: didn't listen and was condecendinng more

One of the Worst 1/8/2010

Pros: Nice office Cons: Lots more

horrible doctor 5/28/2009

I went to see Dr. Parikh with a fairly serious skin condition that had been bothering me for several months. I had already been to see my GP about the condition twice and was now seeking out his opinion as a specialist. He spent exactly two minutes in the room with me. He talked at and over me the entire time and hardly let me get a word in edgewise to explain what was going on at all. His ""examination"" consisted of glancing at my skin for fifteen seconds from about a foot away. He ended up prescribing the same thing my GP had already prescribed (which he'd have known had he bothered to ask any questions) and rushed out of the room when I tried to ask any questions. I'm not the kind of person who normally posts reviews, but I was so upset and affronted by the entire experience that I felt the need to share this so that other people don't waste their time, money, and energy on him. Pros: nice office Cons: MANY! more

Excellent Diagnosis :: Good Doctor 8/8/2008

For Medical and Cosmetic Dermatology - Dr. Parikh is the city's best and his staff and facility wonderful!! 8/6/2008

I've been a patient of Dr. Parikh for about a decade, moving with him through two practices and then to his own, lovely practice downtown. He is caring and knowledgeable, a wonderfully kind, effective, and ethical doctor and a great person! I walk out with improved skin, great tips, techniques, and a great sense of self. Pros: Dr. Parikh, range of services, great staff, efficient and streamlined record-keeping Cons: Absolutely Non more

Only business! 8/5/2008

Consultation took no more than 5 mins. I was asked to examen myself at home if there should be a suspition about melanoma...How would I do this? Just expensive treatments were recommended. When I went to pick up my presciprtion at the pharmacy it came to $163. I was shocked and just left it at the pharmacy. more

Doc Rocks 7/31/2007

Two or three visits and all have been good. The office is the antithesis of most medical facilities: modern, well-equipped, pretty even. And better magazines. But Dr. Parekh is the reason I go back. He's kind, funny, smart, highly ethical, fast, and thorough. Explains everything clearly, doesn't push any procedure or product at all, and is just a cool guy. Pros: compassion, skills, office, payment options (credit cards including Amex), wait time (nearly nil) Cons: i've wracked my brains, but alas, none more

Doesn't get any better than Sherwin K. Parikh, M.D. 3/15/2007

As a licensed rehabilitation manual therapist, and now MSc student of Oriental Medicine and Naturopathic Medicine, I have been recommending my patients to Dr. Parikh for seven years. I am also a long term patient of his. I am pleased to recommend my patients to several of the finest healthcare professionals in New York. This includes excellence in front desk administration in each of these offices. Dr. Parikh and the professionals he has hired meet this criteria. The current consultation fee is $175 with follow up visits $100, staff is accessible, courteous, patient, helpful, skilled, and attentive. Dr. Parikh is an exceptional medical specialist in that he is a highly qualified dermatologist. He is intelligent, refined, informed, patient, compassionate, responsive, attentive, generous, and witty. The fact that he is one of New York's FINEST dermatologists is gilding the lily. Few professionals in any career reach mastery and strive for excellence which is why I am so proud to share this rare New York resource. more

Love this guy 2/18/2007

Completely unpretentious, non-dismissive, kind, thorough & thoughtful doctor -- was very impressed. more

Best dermatologist yet 1/4/2007

I've been blessed with extremely sensitive, combination skin which has led me to see dermatologists at periods throughout my life. I saw three dermatologist (one extremely well known in NY) before I found Dr. Parikh. All three tried to tell me that I needed this or that expensive product and persciptions for everything under the sun. FINALLY, Dr. Parikh was the one dermatologist that took a natural approach...recommending simple products and an even simpler regime. He took the time to talk to me about my life as well and we discovered that high stress was also causing some of the issues. I highly recommend Dr. Parikh - he's thorough, smart and kind! more

a dermotologist or a business-man? 11/20/2006

Upon entering the facility, the receptionist was unattentive. I saw Dr. Parikh (the founder), my consultation lasts for only 5 minutes, he did not ask me much questions and made lame recommendation to use their 2 services not covered by insurance: one is a $150 facial, and the other is a $150 chemical peel. When I asked what's special about the facial, Parikh responded with only 2 words ""the technique"". When I asked how does the chemical peel works and what's the effect, he referred me to his web site (which has one short paragraph that does not answer both my questions). When he charges $300 for consultation, I definitely deserve better responses as a patient. Cons: unprofessional consultation more
