Sharper Impressions Painting

Buyer beware! My experience started out by dealing with a less than knowledgable salesperson who said nothing about wood rot. After seeing that his quote was less than our initial quote that came from a company who was very knowledgable, I decided to ask for a quote on the wood rot as well. The highlighted quote was $100 higher, and since they were about $400 less than our other quote we hired them to do the job. The 2 stars are for the painters who did a very nice job. Didn't pick up a lot of nails, but the quality of workmanship was very good. When it came time to pay I handed the painter, who didn't have a copy of the quote or anything, a check for $1150, thinking this was the total since it was highlighted. We then called the salesperson who then tells me that price didn't include the $600 (that didn't qualify for the 25% discount) for the wood replacement. I had to go dig up the contract and sure enough, on the opposite side in VERY small print, NOT highlighted is the price for the wood replacement. This is a very deceptive way of pricing and doing business. We would have used the other company whose salesperson was more knowledgable and would have saved money in doing so. The team did a thorough and complete job painting, caulking, repairing and prepping the exterior of my home. They were polite and and professional, kept us up to date every step of the process. I would hire them again for other home paint projects! more

The whole company, from Manager to Painters were prompt and professional. I was provided an exact price quote that was printed and given to me before the manager left after my quote. No deposit was needed. The price was right in between my other two quotes and with the references in my own neighborhood I didnt hesitate to sign up. My house was very dirty with mildew and dirt, so I was glad that the powerwasher cleaned the home very quickly and thoroughly. I had help from their color consultant, and we picked out the colors in just about 30 minutes. The painters were very nice. They walked the job with me before starting. Everyday they cleaned up. We received two coats of paint and the new color looks amazing! They were careful to protect my windows with plastic and not stomp my gardens. They replaced all the shutters and downspouts once they painted them all with my new colors. The neighbors love the new style. I would recommend this painting services to anyone. more

Honestly, everything started out ok on this job but towards the end it got really weird. The weather was getting bad and the painter wanted to stop and come back and finish up anything in the spring that needed touch ups. There was already some bubbling going on on certain parts of the house. I was promised by the painter and his foreman that one day in the Spring they would come out no problem. I mean i do have a contract and a 3 year warranty. The last day off the job which was mostly gathering their equipment and cleaning out my garage where they worked for a month, the painter approached me and said Sharper Impressions was not paying him what they promised and asked me to pick up the difference. I told him my contract was with Sharper Impressions, not him but I would call his foreman and see what was up. He sounded desperate. He had really worked hard. I called the local foreman and he never called me back after 3 calls. I finally called the company headquarters because I was worried for the painter but also worried if he wasn't getting paid, then he wouldn't want to come back and finish up. I was told that the foreman had been fired by the owner of the company Geoff Sharp. Mr Sharp also promised me that they would come finish up in the Spring no problem and not too worry. I have now been calling for a month and getting no response or call back whatsoever. I have a contract that guarantees the work for 3 years and they never even finished and part of it is bubbling and needs repairing. They are obviously trying to get out of repairing any work and avoiding me at this point. They have basically stolen money from me. I have contacted a lawyer and intend to take it as far as I can based solely on principal if nothing else. They are a SHADY company. I now have been finding many other reviews were people are having similar problems. They will probably be out of business soon which is fine by me. Go elsewhere for your painting needs. more

Sharper impressions seemed like a good choice at the time. They started July 6 2010. The job was supposed to take two weeks. I had to call the Co. supervisor at the end of the second week of work because they were only a 1/4 done and no scraping was done and they had overspray paint everywhere. Their carpentry work was as poor as the paint prep.They fired that first crew. I found out they sub contract out ALL work to unskilled hispanic labor who didn't know one end of a brush from another. They brought in another poor latino team who started as four people and dwindled down to two after the 5th week (7th week from beginning). This was one of those nightmares you hear about. I had to go over a ""to do list with with the Sharper Impressions Co. superviser at least 6 times on the same items each time he wrote the same thing down AGAIN. Everyone was polite but unforunatly for me unskilled as well. I had the sub contractors coming to me to get paid because the CO wouldn't pay them. At the end I just wanted them out of there. On the day they finished- the afternon of Sept 6 (2 months from when they started) I gave them a good review to asure that I would get the touch up paint they promised the next day. WRONG. Of course after I paid them they didn't want to have anything to do with me. I hope I have better luck if I have a warrenty issue like they promise . What do you think will happen? A update as of 9/17/ 10 , I have the hispanic workers calling me and complaining that although I paid the Sharper Impressions they have never been paid since they started 6 weeks ago.(2nd crew).BEWARE. My husband likes to pretend that he is a handy guy who can fix things; but every time he tries to help around the house, it ends up costing more money to have a professional come out to fix his mistake and the original problem. We had wood rot on several places around the house, and our gutters needed cleaned and re-painted. After seeing his life flash before his eyes more than once, my husband asked me to call around and get different prices for the work. Sharper Impressions Painting wasn?t the cheapest or most expensive. The original price was pretty middle of the road, but with the additional 25% off they give from their flier it wasn?t that bad at all. My husband didn?t know why I wouldn?t just go with the cheapest bid, until I explained that we get a free color consultation, both material and labor warranties and a much more experienced company. He finally agreed with me and let me move forward with Sharper Impressions Painting. After that the work was completed quickly and efficiently. It was nice to go through an entire process like painting your home and never get a head ache from trying to deal with the painting company or painters. If we called with questions, they either answered or returned our call right away and were always available to help if we needed. We were trying to sell our home but the realtor told us we really needed to get some wood rot replaced on the exterior trim of our home and should repaint to update the colors a bit. This sounded like a lot of work on a house that we were just trying to sell. We got a flyer in the mail with a discount on the wood rot repair and painting if we went with Sharper Impressions Painting of Kansas City; we called and had Jeff out for a free quote and the price was surprisingly reasonable considering we were looking for a basic paint job. I was shocked to see how much more response we got from our listing with the new paint colors. We ended up selling the house 10 days after the painters finished the work. It was worth the time and effort to have them complete the work professionally; we plan to use Sharper Impressions Painting when we?re ready to paint our new home.
