  • The Shaeff-Myers Funeral Home is family owned and operated with roots in both the Ambler and the Philadelphia areas and is one of the seven oldest funeral homes in the country still in operation. Mr. Shaeff founded the funeral home originally located in Blue Bell in 1860. Three generations of this family served the community and moved the funeral home to Ambler in the 1940s.

Robert E. Myers, a second-generation funeral director from Philadelphia, purchased the funeral home from Mr. Shaeff in 1978 to form Shaeff-Myers Funeral Home. Robert's son, Richard, became a licensed funeral director in 1996 making him the sixth generation funeral director in the business.

Richard Myers and Robert Myers are currently the licensed funeral directors in our full service funeral home, offering traditional and non-traditional services for people of all races and faith.

Both Richard and Robert are active members of many organizations in the greater Ambler area community including the National Funeral Directors Association, Pennsylvania Funeral Directors Association, Montgomery County Funeral Directors Association, Rotary Club of Ambler, the Mattie Dixon Community Cupboard, Fort Washington Fire Company, First Presbyterian Church of Ambler, Supplee Presbyterian Church, and Ambler Main Street.

The Shaeff-Myers is committed to providing personal attention and comforting assistance to those who need it the most.. Shaeff-Myers Funeral Home offers many different funeral services to meet an individual's or family's needs. We have planned funerals for numerous background, customs, and religions. Some of the services we offer are listed below:

Traditional Burial: the burying of the deceased in a casket at a cemetery, after having a viewing/visitation and/or a religious/secular service.

Direct Burial: the burying of the deceased in a casket with no viewing/visitation,only meeting at the graveside with a minimal service there.

Direct Cremation: the process of treating the deceased under extreme heat and evaporation. Afterwards, the cremated remains would be returned to the family, buried or scattered, according to individual wishes.

Cremation with a Memorial Service: the cremation process is the same as listed above, but then a scheduled memorial service will be held at the funeral home or another appropriate place.

Cremation with a Viewing/Visitation: the deceased would be embalmed and prepared for viewing, have the service of choice, and then be cremated. Afterwards, the cremated remains would be returned to the family, buried or scattered, according to individual wishes.
