My friends and I love going to Shadowbox Cabaret! They have great shows - like the format of "Saturday Night Live", but much better!! The house band performs great covers of songs...

Outdated and out of tune 2/21/2010

I am a fan of all performances but this honestly felt like I had stepped back into the 1990's and I dont think this was the intentional vibe of the place. The seating was very unexpected. Understandably doing the best they can with a small space but the "family style" seating was extremely awkward while eating elbow to elbow with stangers, all while the servers were having trouble maneuvering because of this. The performers seemed overly forced and very very un-natural - Unsure if this was part of the satire/sarcasm? Thinking it was not. Overdone material in the skits that of which made myself and friends feel embarrassed for still sitting and watching. Vocalists were off key and flat at times. Agree with other reviews in saying the food was not desirable. I am all for a good time but I just didnt expect to be so disappointed. more

how can anyone like the shadowbox 11/2/2009

THE FOOD: the food here tasted bad, we got the nachos and they tasted bland, you can tell that the food is prepared by people who are not cooks, and also their menu is really expensive for the product you get. THE MUSIC: the music is ok, but nothing special, they just cover songs that sounded better when the original artists performed them. the singers vary from stand able to horrible, and really no song stands out at the end of the night, its almost as if the songs are just there to fill time up because they couldn't come up with enough sketches THE COMEDY: This show was boring, and not funny. The sketches seemed like a group of high school kids wrote them the morning of an assembly for the school. None of them stand out as being amazing, overall i thought the comedy was forced and not funny. Even the few decent actors could not make the bad material funny. Also at one point one of the videos had not color, almost as if they never tested it, just threw whatever they could up. OVERALL: I would not recommend you ever visit the shadowbox, there are so many great things to do in Columbus, that to spend thirty dollars on a crappy show just seems like such a waste of money, there was not one thing about my experience that stood out as being amazing and at best I would say the show is watchable, but I would never call it a good show, or a fun night, I would call it a rip-off more

Refused Admission 10/24/2009

The girlfriend and I were planning to go this evening with free tickets a friend gave us and were REFUSED admission because the tickets were free and they were "close" to selling out. No where on our free passes does it state this and our plans are now ruined. We will NEVER visit this place now and I will be making a point of telling everyone I know in this area to not visit after the screw job they gave us. So if you have free passes to the show dont bother calling them because they will jsut tell you that you cannot use them. more

GREAT SHOW, YUCKY FOOD 6/14/2006

We loved the show and laughed out loud many times! The music was great (be ready for some loud music) and the actors were hilarious. We ordered the Sloppy Joes (not what I would have picked out at a "normal" restaurant, but the menu is VERY limited). It was over priced and not very good at all. The tables are VERY small, so our party of 4 each with meals felt very squished. I would recommend just getting the popcorn, good size for price and you can all share. Wait until after the show and have dinner around Easton. I did see that a lot of tables were getting the beer buckets, I don't know how much they cost, but they are very popular. I recommend not bringing a large purse or bag with you as space is tight. We highly recommend the show though!! more

Really disappointing 3/23/2006

We've been to the Shadowbox twice, and both times we were disappointed. The comedy was forced and not-so-funny, and the acting was bad. The music was great instrumentally, but the vocalists sounded tired and strained. It was fun to hear music that was familiar and popular, just a shame it wasn't sung better. The food was ok, but it honestly looked and tasted like the performers had cooked it at home and brought in to sell...which isn't necessarily bad, just not what I paid for. This may be a great night out for college students who want to drink beer and get rowdy, but it was disappointing to consumers hoping for talent and entertainment on a professional scale. more

Use to be Better 11/21/2005

This used to be a really neat place to see a show. It's small, but the entertainment in the past was pretty good. Lately it hasn't been as good, but you can still see a show and grab a bite to eat. Food is a little pricey though. more

Good Entertainment 11/18/2005

Excellent food, staff is funny, music and shows are entertaining. It's a great place to take friends who come in from out of town. They always leave in a good mood. more

Great for a night out! 11/8/2005

My friends and I love going to Shadowbox Cabaret! They have great shows - like the format of "Saturday Night Live", but much better!! The house band performs great covers of songs you know, and a few that aren't all that familiar - probably the best band in Columbus! The actors/actresses are all very talented and creative and funny. They change their shows every couple months and I highly recommend going each time!! more

good shows and food 9/22/2005

I used to love going here, but I think that the shows have gotten to be not as good. The people change a lot, but it is usually a good time. They have really good food and you can order beers by the bucket ( I think there are 7 in the bucket) It is a little expensive though, but going to the show is all you would need to do for the evening. Get there early to order food and get a good seat. more

The show we saw was not good 8/4/2005

I think this theater is owned and operated by the same people who run Shadowbox Cabaret at Easton, which we have been to and is very good. However, a few years ago some friends offered us free tickets to this theater on high street so we went with them. The show we saw was terrible and we hardly laughed and did not even understand some of it. I don't remember the name of the show, but it seemed to have some kind of hillbilly cowboy theme. more

Very funny 8/4/2005

We have only been to see the Christmas show of Shadowbox Cabaret at Easton, but it was hilarious and I would love to go back to see another show. My family and I laughed through the entire show. This show is not for kids and I don't think any of their shows are appropriate for younger audiences, but it was a great show for adults. They also serve drinks and food during the show. more
