Excellent Karate School! 8/20/2009

Seishin Martial Arts is an outstanding martial arts academy that my children have been attending for over six years. The instructors care about the quality of their students and not only teach martial arts but also help develop good character, respect, and self-discipline. I have read some of the negative reviews on this website and completely disagree with all of them. 1) The staff is extremely kind, helpful and never rude, despite having the occasional rude parent approach them. 2) The school does offer a one year membership at a discount price. While this is a long term commitment for a small child, there is also a six month membership. In addition, there are many trial memberships available to new students. 3) It is not their responsibility to entertain the younger siblings of students, it is a karate school not a day care. 4) The prices are extremely fare. The average cost of a karate tuition in the state of Massachusetts is $125.00. Their prices are lower than that. In addition, you are paying for quality. If you are looking for a quality martial arts school look no further. They are easily the top martial arts school in Massachusetts. And for the record, ""teach and preach"" are the same thing. You will understand what I mean by reading some of the more interesting reviews below. Pros: Quality Instruction, Customer Service, Reasonably Priced Cons: None. more

Great Martial Arts training program 7/11/2007

I strongly recommend Seishin. My children have been students for 5+ years. All of the instructors are highly trained. The benefits of their martial arts training have been proven over and over. It reflects in their school work as well as all aspects of their lives. The children gain confidence and learn respect in and outside of the dojo. The instructors have given them each a positive self-esteem with their style of teaching. Both parents and children are treated with the utmost respect by both the owner and instructors. They know when a child should advance and if they are not advancing, they will talk with you to see what can be done to benefit that child and help him/her to get them on course. Other benefits: The dojo is clean. I?ve been in many and nothing compares to Seishin. Pros: Great dedication to the sport and all of their students more

First-rate martial arts school 7/9/2007

My children have been students at Seishin for more than five years, and we have been treated with nothing but respect by the owners and instructors during that time. My children have benefited enormously from their experience at Seishin, which has resulted in increased discipline, confidence, and great self-esteem. Unlike other martial arts schools I've observed, the instructors here work to produce students of quality. The cost of the programs at Seishin is in line with the quality of instruction. I would highly recommend Seishin for children as well as adults. Pros: Quality instruction more

Money hungry and rude, broke my daughter's heart 4/2/2007

Lock you into long contracts and when an injury happens they don't let you out of contract. They keep hounding you for money for equipment. My children have been in the school for 2 years and enjoyed it until my son got hurt (outside of karate) and they would not let him out of the contract, but very happy to keep taking my money and then asked my 10 yr old daughter to leave the school. She left in tears! Don't waste your time with these people they are money hungry and conduct poor business practices. Pros: kids have fun Cons: rude to parents, long, locked in contracts, will not work with you if injuries arise more

customer service skills need an overhaul 12/1/2006

I agree with some of the other reviews. Not so great customer service. Owners do not know how to relate to adults. Great that the kids are having fun, however, who is footing the bill!! The parents which they should treat with respect. Just because the parents do not have martial arts training does not mean that they should not be treated rudely. I have noticed and experienced on more than one occasion rude customer service. Cons: how can you teach respect and self-discipline if you can't preach it! more

Respectful and Professional 11/7/2006

Ive seen kids come and go in the classes, but you do not have to be the best in order to fit in. It is really for everyone that just wants to enjoy the sport.\r \r \r Only parents that arent interested in the Art of karate will disagree. My 2 children have been in Seishin for about 4 years and they have learned about self respect, self control and the respect of others all the while keeping their bodies healthy!\r \r Over worked or underparenting parents probably wont enjoy the sport with their kids, but their kids will!\r \r \r Seishin is family run and you get what you play for...need I say more! more

NOT GREAT!!! 10/11/2006

OVER PRICED\r LOUSY CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! \r NOT THAT KEEN ON WAITING PARENTS WHO HAVE TO BRING YOUNGER SIBLINGS\r LONG TERM CONTRACTS WHICH IS NOT ALWAYS ACCOMODATING FOR YOUNG CHILDREN WHO ARE JUST TRYING OUT THE SPORT.\r \r more

Lousy Customer Service 10/10/2006

These people have no social graces or skills whatsoever, they are over priced and they lock you into long term contracts. They only really care to teach the above average students. Not worth the money!!!!! Cons: rude, not customer oriented, alot of money for little value more

Best Sport Karate training around 3/10/2006

These guys are great teachers and serious athletes who are national champions. Kids, teens and adults interested in competing (forms or weapons) in karate tournaments should train here. Even for young kids who want to try out karate for tournaments, or just to build self-confidence and self-control, this is a great atmosphere with excellent teachers. more
