Schuster, M.D., an El Paso native and eye surgeon, devotes much of his practice to procedures for nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism: RK (radical keratotomy), PRK (photorefractive keratotomy), and LASIK (laser in-situ keratomileusis) are the most common. Dr. Schuster performed the first VISX PRK procedure in El Paso in 1996. He has been featured on KVIA/ABC Channel 7 and KFOX/FOX Channel 8 in El Paso. He has performed LASIK surgery live on both. The Schuster family legacy in ophthalmology reaches back more than 100 years since 1896. His grandfather became the first Eye, Ear, Nose and Throat specialist in the Southwest. Dr. Schuster's father and uncle also practiced Eye, Ear, Nose and Throat surgery in El Paso for more than 50 years. Dr. Stephen Schuster is a third generation ophthalmologist and has been in practice for over 25 years.
