Editorial review from Citysearch 6/15/2012

WORST EXPERIENCE EVER! My cat-sitter recommended Sandy's, when she realized that my 17-year-old long-haired cat had a couple fur mats. I realized that they were probably worse than I could remove on my own, so I made an appointment. During the conversation, I told them that my cat would not be happy about the process, so I was told that they hold cats at the scruff of the neck where it doesn't hurt and that would work out. I got my cat into the carrier and we came into Sandy's. The one woman looked at him and announced that he was one pissed-off cat. She took him to the table in the back room, and asked the other woman to help her, asking if the second woman wanted to hold the cat or do the trimming. My cat wasn't crying, wasn't struggling, wasn't fighting. AT ALL! He looked a little startled, but was basically calm. The second woman flatly refused, and in the nastiest, rudest way possible! She was just like, ""NO! I'm not getting near that cat. I'm not getting bitten by a cat! I need my hands for my job and I'm not going to get near him."" Like he was some sort of rabid wolf or something! And stomped away to the corner of the back room where we couldn't see her. No coming out to talk to us. No apologizing that she 'misunderstood' when we said that cat wasn't going to be a puddle of fluff over the whole process. I could NOT believe how rude and nasty she was. This is her BUSINESS!!! She's supposed to, oh, I don't know, deal with animals!???! And their owners! I called my cat-sitter to tell her my experience, and she was horrified. Completely upset and appalled at the last of customer service, at their rudeness, and at their complete lack of professionalism. She called them after hanging up with me, and as soon as she said, ""I'm calling because I referred a client to you...,"" the woman started SCREAMING at her! The owner (Deanna) got all defensive, screaming that she didn't have insurance, she can't get bit, etc., she wouldn't let my sitter talk at ALL, so after getting screamed at for nearly five minutes, she just hung up. Deanna called her back, asked why she hung up, my sitter told her because the woman refused to listen to anything she said, and Deanna started screaming at her again so she had to hang up again. Neither of us will EVER refer ANYONE to this horrible, horrible place. more

Very Satisfied 10/29/2011

I have been taking my two dogs to Sandy's for over a year. They treat my dogs with great care and are very professional to me. I am very happy with the way they look. My one dog is a puppy mill rescue with a skittish personality and I feel that they take special care with him. more

Previous negative reviews 6/7/2011

Okay, Firstly let me say that my wife and I have been taking our miniature Pomeranian to Sandy's Pet Station Depot for years now and we have never, ever had any problems in regards to grooming and/or customer service. These people who gave negative reviews are more than likely people who are used to getting their own way for everything. Spoiled brats. You know the type. They more than likely had an attitude and expected the employees at Sandy's to take their attitudes. Well, any business has the right to refuse service to anyone. If it were my business and if a customer would walk into my place of business with an attitude I would straight out tell them where to go. Sandy and all of the employees at Sandy's Pet Station Depot are wonderful, caring people who absolutely love animals. they always treat our pet with love and care and we have never, ever had any issues. Oh yeah, let me also say this.. If you don't like the service, then go elsewhere. I am in no way affiliated with Sandy's Pet Station Depot. I have not been asked, coerced or paid to make this post/review. Just a very satisfied long term customer. I recommend Sandy's Pet Station Depot to everyone I know. more

RUDE ! RUDE ! RUDE! 10/3/2010

I have a long haired calico cat that I wanted to have her belly shaved up a little because her fur is matted in a few spots. more

Will never use Sandy's again. 7/12/2010

I took my Maltese in for a trip that was supposed to cost $35. I was charged $50 and she was shaved completely bald. I understand that as my kids did not brush her like they should have. My issue is my dog has a hug scab on her face and they did not even inform me that she had been cut. Cons: Everything from price to treatment of my dog more

Absolutely Terrible Continued -See pictures above!!! 3/20/2010

Continued from post below.. Dog grooming is based on repeat customers, and I for one can tell you I will not be returning to this place. If I could go somewhere higher up, and tell them what despicable untalented people work there, I would. These people obviously don't have enough manners to admit they made a mistake. Because you had a puppy you were unable to handle, you decided to botch and butcher him. They even had the nerve to charge us the FULL thirty five dollars, which we will definitely be disputing. Furthermore, when I called the following week, and politely asked what had happened, the owner, Sandy (extremely rude woman who needs to get out more), said that ""he was uncontrollable and matted everywhere"" Keep in mind, I brush his coat everyday, meaning it is impossible that he is matted everywhere. I proceeded to ask if this was the type of customer service they had she said ""Don't bother bringing him back here"" and then HUNG UP THE PHONE. Is this the type of person you want taking care of your dog? If she is this hostile to people who are calm over the phone, can you even imagine how she is to animals? I don't even want to think about what happened at that grooming shop a week ago when my puppy was there. All I know is that if you care about your animals, and want them treated well, and want to get your moneys worth, please don't take them to this place. The customer service is terrible, the workers beyond inexperienced, and the owner a very spiteful and depolorable lady. I have posted pictures above of how my dog looked before, and what he looked like after. This should be all the proof you need to never take your dogs here. I would never spend this much time writing a review if I didn't firmly believe these people are cruel and sleazy. If they were having so much trouble with my dog, they should have had enough sense to pick up the phone a second time and called and told us. But the fact that they did not do this shows, they are driven only by money, not because of their empathy towrards animals. Please, don't take your animals there. They deserve the best, and this place is atrocious and beyond unsatisfactory. Cons: Everything more

Absolutely Terrible 3/20/2010

I have a four month old maltese puppy that I took to Sandy's Pet Station Depot last weekend. Worst decision I have made in a long time. My puppy is well taken care of, brushed every day, given a bath every two weeks, taken on walks, and up to date on his vaccines and in perfectly good health. He is a playful puppy, the dominant one in the litter, so at times he can be aggressive, but at six months he is going to be put in training class and be neutered so hopefully it will help. So, when we took him to the groomers, we showed them a picture of EXACTLY what we wanted, and they said that was doable. Fifteen minutes later, I received a call saying his butt area was matted so it would have to be short. And also, that he was ""bigger than what we expected him to be so the price is going to go from $25 to $35"" This should have been my first hint to tell them to not touch him and go pick him up and take him elsewhere. When I had called to make the appointment, I had told them he was 4 months old, 6 pounds....what do you expect that to look like? That right there showed inexperience not to mention extreme shadiness. When we went to go pick him up, we walked into the store, and the owner was extremely rude, saying he had been very bad and uncontrollable, that it took three people to hold him down. When they brought him out, he had been completely MUTILATED. Sheared down like a sheep, his face fur had not been cut, and neither had his tail. They made my gorgeous puppy look like a rat. The lady proceeded to tell us that if this ever happened again, that they would charge us more. As if she was the high and mighty one to speak to customers that way, talk about poor customer service. It seemed as if they were blaming US for their poor judgment and inability to do their job properly. Their inexperience and lack of tact, and nerve to blame the owners for their third rate and pathetic attempt to ""dog groom"" is a complete turn off, and this place needs to be shut down. Cons: Please see the pictures above. more

Extremely Satisfied with Work 12/7/2009

My Yorkie has been going to Sandy's Pet Station for about 6 months. Each time that I have called to arrange for an appointment, someone has answered the phone in a professional manner, and always returned my call within a twenty four time frame.whenever I left a message. My Yorkie is extremely hyper and can present a challenge to even the most patient groomer.I was referred to Sandy's by a neighbor and would not hesitate to refer anyone else to her. more

We have been pleased with the grooming the our Bichons have received. The price is good and we like that they are close to home. They can be difficult to contact, though. Pros: Good work, Low cost Cons: Inconsistant hours more

Inexperienced employee's working for owner, hack-n-slash job done on my Golden. 10/13/2006

10-13-2006, On my fourth repeat visit to Sandy's, a novice employee was left working alone. She called when our Golden was done, and tried to warn us that she didn't do a very good job with his trim. When we went to pick him up, the trim was worse than we imagined. His butt was shaved bald, as well as his front legs. His belly was obviously knicked be the razor, and was in pain. It was terrible. After sharing my disatisfaction with the job she did, the best they could offer me was a discount of $15 off the original $35 price. If someone completely ruins the job they are paid to do, then you shouldn't have to pay for it. Use EXTREME caution when going to Sandy's Pet Station Depot. Pros: Close to home. Cons: Inexperienced employees. more
