San Francisco Coffee

Great coffe and place to relax and read, but ""TERRIBLE SERVICE BY A YOUNG UNFRIENDLY LITTLE BITCH GIRL"" WITH A SHORT SHORT HAIRCUT SO FAR EVRYONE THAT GOES WITH MY HAVE THE SAME OPINION"" NO GOOD PERSON TO BE SERVING TO COSTUMERS, NO FRIENDLY AT ALL!!! more

There are two locations of San Francisco Coffee, and both have a gloriously local fanbase, mostly comprised of indie business owners, artistic types and neighbors who are still upset that Highland Bagel turned into Osteria. I like SF because of two reasons. It has the coffee pureness of Octane w/o all the pretentious laptop people, and their ham & cheese croissants are wonderful. They're baked each day at the Morningside/Emory location, and they are loaded with gooey swiss and salty ham. The croissant tastes like good croissants are supposed to: they're flakey and have way too much butter. Which is a good thing. Not every day, maybe, but definitely a good thing over all. Pros: Ham & cheese croissants/purist coffee Cons: Sometimes it's too crowded to where you can't find a seat more

SF coffee makes a wonderful cappuccino. In the days of the automatic, press-a-button drink makers, it is refreshing to have someone take a little time, and make sure the drink is served the way it should be. While not quite quenching my desire for a truly authentic Italian or French cafe (I know it is San Francisco Coffee, but it didn't take me there either), the cappuccino sure tasted authentic. Served in a nice cup, saucer and miniature spoon included (Thank you!), the froth was wonderfully creamy and the espresso underneath had a wonderful smooth flavor. The biscotti on the other hand was a bit stale tasting and the odd chocolate chip and raisin (I think?) combo seemed a bit odd. The spacious patio is inviting to to watch the bicyclers pedal by, or just to read the New York Times. Pros: Wonderful Cappuccino Cons: Ambiance, Price, Not so well done biscotti more

Oh my god - the chocolate peanut butter cake - to die for........sooooooo tasty and VEGAN!!!!! The atmosphere is nice and I always have great coffee - its clean. the staff is nice - I like the one in Poncey-Highlands but my favorite is the one on the corner of N. Highland and Amsterdam - I guess because thats the one I go to most often (closest to my home) - everyone is friendly and I know I already said it but Vegan deserts that taste awesome! WoW! Pros: Vegan deserts - awsome atmosphere and coffee - lots of seating! Cons: NONE!!!!!! more

I've visited SF coffee several times, mainly to meet people who live in the area for a good cup. Pros: Good blends and roasts, laid-back atmosphere, the patio is nice spring-fall Cons: Parking can be a pain if the restaurants around it are packed, and it can get loud when busy more

I am new to Atlanta, and am trying to find a coffee shop. I went to San Francisco Coffee for the fourth time today. This was sort of like a date. I was about ready to settle with San Francisco Coffee as my coffee home. I don't know what tipped me off. Someone in line ahead of me asked for a double shot of espresso in their latte. I thought, ""That's strange, you shouldn't have to ask for a double shot of espresso, unless maybe they're buying an 8 oz?"" I ordered two 20 oz. Americanos, having a friend with me. I haven't been buying 20 oz coffee, but I've been tired the last few days. Then, before I handed the guy in the orange shirt my money, I asked ""How many shots in a 20 oz?"" When he said ""One, all of our drinks are made with one shot."" I almost flipped. No wonder I've been tired. I work behind a counter myself. I understand tipping, I understand that nothing is really the guy in the orange shirts fault. But I can't believe that buying a large Americano, I'm paying not for more coffee, but for more water to water down the one measly shot of espresso they're giving me. There is a general rule of thumb: 8 oz: one shot. 12 oz, two shots. 16 oz, two to three shots. 20 oz, 3 shots. The price on the board seemed to follow this rule, increasing with oz size. I asked the barrister if I was buying water, and he said ""Well, and the cup."" He then hastened to add that they self-roasted the coffee, but a shot of that won't do me much good in a 20 oz cup of water. I spent over $7.00 on two Americanos, after paying .90 cents for the needed shots of coffee. I would also like to point out that if they are charging for the increase in cup size, they are wasting their profit, because they double cupped our drinks. I won't return to San Francisco coffee, and if I do, I'll be buying the smallest cup they have, and requesting, and requesting shots of coffee. Pros: doesn't follow basic coffee expectations Cons: great place and great location more

The coffee is great and the music (most of the time) is cool. A must visit when going to Atlanta. Also the servers are nicer than the other SF coffeehouse. more

they take pride in roasting the coffee themselves everyday and its always great. THe carrott zuchinni muffin is incredible. Its also a great place to study and get some work done. It has about 10-15 tables. more
