Mediocre food, sad service. What bread? 2/6/2009

I had been wanting to try this place for a while, but was always thwarted by the odd hours. Finally, we got in and were sorely disappointed. One reviewer mentioned the great bread. What bread? We never saw any. I had actually commented to my wife that bread would be a good thing to have. The food itself was fairly priced, especially for a casino. It was pretty mediocre though. I had the all you can eat platter, which comes with a mix of sausage, ribs and sliced steak. The sausage was decent, but was nothing more than a standard bbq'ed sausage link. The ribs were meaty and were alright, but overcooked and tough on the outside. The steak was insipid, and was only edible with extra sauce on it. The bbq beans were flavorless. I expected them to have a good bbq taste, and instead they tasted like someone opened a can of baked beans and dumped them into a bowl. When I asked for more, since I was having all you can eat and wanted my $$$ worth, I never got it. I waited over 15 minutes and finally we left since we had to make a movie, and fortunately had the foresight to pay early. Pros: Good price for the amount of food Cons: Food is pretty mediocre, hours are limited more

This Ain't Texas - that's for sure 10/29/2008

I've been to the Salt Lick in TX and man it is great, but not here, that's certain. Pros: Location Cons: Food, Staff, Ambiance more

Bring on Da Lick! 10/25/2007

I've been to Salt Lick in Driftwood, Texas and the Las Vegas Salt Lick is as close as you'll get to the original Driftwood, TX location. Everytime I've come to Vegas, I've taken different friends to the Salt Lick at Red Rock and they have all loved it. I really love the brisket and I always ask for the moist cut. Considering Las Vegas is the land of buffets, you can opt for the all you can eat family style option on the menu to have unlimited servings of ribs, links and brisket - which is what we normally do since it's just a $2 upgrade from the regular combo plate. It has become a normal stop for my friends whenever we go to Las Vegas. more

Worst BBQ I've ever had!! 9/28/2007

Although the restaurant itself was asthetically pleasing the experience was not. We were not seated right away and waited longer than usual to be waited on. The restaurant was not busy at the time as only 5-6 other tables were occupied. We had asked for something specific on the combo plate and when our dinner arrived what we had asked for was not there. Fortunately, the waiter went back and got what we had requested and we could begin eating. The meat was terribly bland and flavorless and the choice of sauces and sides were terrible. This is NOT Texas BBQ by any stretch of the imagination and for Salt Lick to be making such claims is quite an insult to the many excellent BBQ restaurants that reside in Texas. The prices were too high for the quality of food and we will not be returning nor will we recommend to anyone else. Pros: The location is beautiful and easily accessabile Cons: Quality of food vs. price. more

""BYOB"" Bottle Of Sauce that is. 5/31/2006

The quality of the smoked meats rivals any barbecue in town. However, the selection of sauces was enough to ruin the experience. Touted as Texas barbecue, I would have expected a smokey sweet tomatoe based sauce, or even a Carolina style vinagar/cider based sauce, but I found neither. The flavor of the smoked meats was completely lost on their house sauces. One labeled without any description, a second labeled ""Spicy"" and 2 more labeled ""Chipole Tomatoe"" and ""Jalapeno Apple"" which is also mixed into one of the cocktails. Pros: Affordable, All you can eat. more
