Shelli is awesome! I was referred to Shelli recently after I plucked my eyebrows too far. She helped to reshape them and let me know what I need to do to keep them in shape. The environment was comfortable and there was no awkward conversation! I would recommend her to any woman seeking a true professional. more

I recently lost my hairdresser due to her moving out of state. My friend reccommended salon canvass and there is a girl working there my the name of julie. when i called and made an appointement the receptionist was very friendly and told me that i could get in that same day. i was so excited! when i got there i was greeted and was offered a cup of water. the water had fruit in it, which was very refreshing. julie came and intoduced herself and we talked about some different haircuts. as she was cutting my hair she talked to me as if i had known her forever. she made me feel so comfortable. when she was finished my hair looked even better than i thought it would. she did a much better job than my past stylist. i will definately go to julie from now on. I found Sandy after having a really bad color job at another salon. I was very apprehensive about going to somewhere new again but I hated my hair the way it was. A friend recommended trying Sandy. After a consultation with her I felt at ease and confident she could give me the color I wanted. That is just what happened. She gave me a great color and cut! I will definitely go back to her. more

I just moved to Huntington Beach and desperately needed a hair cut, but my naturally curly hair makes me apprehensive-- I have had some terrible things happen to my hair in the past. However, I read all of the great Citysearch reviews for Salon Canvass and was sold. My appointment was with Julie, who was nice enough, but I needed a cut and a STYLE. She barely spoke to me about what I wanted and offered no insight or suggestions, she simply rushed me to the hair washing station. I have never in my life felt as though a stylist listened to me less or perhaps knew nothing about cutting curly hair. I tried to express to her that I like my hair to be able to be rather free and curly, she continually offered no opinion or suggestion. As she cut my hair I felt more and more stressed out-- she kept asking me if she was doing what I wanted-- how do I know, my hair is wet and combed nearly straight, I can't tell a thing! The more she asked me what to do the more frustrated and stressed out I became-- I am not a hairdresser, which is why I came to her. The more she cut the more concerned I became. I finally just agreed that she was finished for fear that she was seriously messing up my hair. As a final attempt she half heartedly put some product in my hair which made some of it crusty but left me with a head of frizz. I never heard her make one positive comment or express any knowledge of hair styling the entire visit. I left Salon Canvass feeling completely unattractive, I looked terrible and my cut (after rewashing and styling it myself) could have been done at any cheap-o barber-- it isn't the worst cut I have ever had but it isn't the hip and interesting cut I was hoping for. If you have curly hair, Julie is not the stylist for you. more

After getting my hair done twice by a stylist at Salon Gregories, I came to Salon Canvass and had my hair done by Jessica Bowland. Not only did she do an amazing job, but she has a way of making you feel comfortable, glamorous and stylish. She talks with you as if you're her best friend, and has a great ""chair-side"" manner (if that is even a phrase!). I've recommended her to everyone I know, and have gotten my hair done every 4-6 weeks for the past 2 years with Jessica. Everyone I've referred to her has loved her. She takes the time to find out what YOU want in a hair style and does it the way you've described. She'll also educate you on the latest styling tips, how to style your own hair (blow-dry, straighten, curl) to get the most from your cut and color, and she is open and honest with what she thinks will work with your face structure and shape. I had a murder mistery dinner to go to, and I needed a 1940's look. I called Robert and told him about my event. He said "" This will be fun "". When I arrived he had pictures of 1940's pin up girls. After years of thin eyebrows and many many facialists I have found the one! She is amazing at eyebrows and does a mean facial. She is so easy to talk to and is very informative. Her facials are both relaxing and clinical. She has found a nice balance. she never started my brows without hearing what I wanted and we discussed what would might be possible! Robert is awesome! I had just moved and went to citysearch to find a new hairdresser. I am a blonde was not sure of the details-just wanted LONG and blond/various shades. I was very nervous. I did not want any of my long hair cut, just trimmed! I went in and met Robert. Very nice. He picked up that I was looking at the latest ""Hollywood Trash Mag-you know the top 3 what's happening with the stars"" We started talking about different ones. He somehow figured out that I was a huge Heather Locklear fan. After reading the reviews about this place on City Search, I booked an appointment right away. I was excited because the girl who made my appointment told me that someone was willing to do my hair at 6pm (after I got off work). I showed up a few minutes early and no one was there, which was fine because I was early. After waiting around outside the locked doors for over 30 minutes, I left. Today I called to find out what happenedand apparently my appointment was never written down in the book. The girl I talked to sounded like she thought I was making it all up and started to make me feel like it was somehow my fault. I would NOT suggest going here because they are unorganized and will make you feel like an idiot for something that was their mistake. I can only imagine how the service is when you're actually getting your hair done... more

I needed a new Stylist and have used Citysearch before for other things. Well Citysearch has it right again. Going to a new stylist for me is scary, but I new within a few minutes that Robert new what he was talking about. He put me at ease quickly. He listened to what I wanted, then showed me some pictures as suggetions. I love that. He came up with a new style for me that's easy for me to recreate. I can't say enough how happy I am. I thought that his prices were reasonable, and I did not have to wait for 4 hours. I finally worked up the nerve to try out a different stylist after being only somewhat satisified with my hair for the last 6 months with my old stylist. After reading the reviews on here I called and booked the soonest avaiable appointment with either Robert, Nancy or Cindy. Nancy happened to have a cancelation the next day, and I really needed some color on my hair ASAP. I had her call me back and we discussed pricing over the phone, I told her my concerns and she is very easy to talk to. When I actually met her she was very friendly, I told her what I wanted and she did exactly that! My hair has never looked better, and she really knows what she's doing, she is super friendly and easy to talk to, I feel like she's been a friend of mine for years. The two color partial weave she did on me turned out perfect, and the cut she gave me was cute and different, something that I really needed. Im happy to of found her, she is great at both cutting and coloring (and styling!) I highly recommend Nancy at Salon Canvass. She charges a little more than my old styist but it is WAY worth it, I have found a new hair dressor for life! She isnt expensive by any means, and she's really good at helping you choose products for your different styling needs. more

I first started with Nancy 5 years ago when I moved to California and she was at another salon. I'm very hesitant about people cutting my naturally curly hair and a friend of mine recommended Nancy to me. Nancy has since moved to Salon Canvass and I've moved with her. She's very skilled with cut and color. I've always loved the different styles she's created and have been pleased with her both professionally and personally. I've recommended Nancy to others (both men and women) and they've also given me great feedback on her. Definately give her a try. Pros: Good prices. Knowledgable and friendly staff. Cons: n/a more

NANCY IS A GREAT HAIRSTYLIST, SHE HAS BEEN DOING MY HAIR, MY FAMILYS HAIR AND I REFER EVERYONE I KNOW TO HER. NANCY HAS BEEN DOING MY HAIR FOR AT LEAST FIVE YEARS. SHE ALSO SPECIALIZES IN EYELASH EXTENSIONS.... I LOVE THEM... YOU NEED TO TRY THEM, THEY REALLY MAKE YOUR EYES STAND OUT. OR IF YOU NEED HAIR EXTENSIONS, SHE DOES THOSE AS WELL. My hair stylist of eight years moved away. I was terrified to go to a new salon. I put of getting my hair woven for two months. Finally I had to do something. I read the reviews on City Search, and decided to go with Robert. He was able to match my hair perfectly (I have three colors in my weave). After the first few minutes talking to him, he put me at ease, and I could tell that he new what he was doing. My hair came out great, and I'm so glad I found him! City search is the greatest. After moving to OC a few months ago, I found a stylist randomly who butchered my hair and did far more damage than good. I found Sandy thru CitySearch and thought I'd give her a try. She was great! She really listened to what I wanted, took the time to ask me questions about my hair, and made some reccomendations. I told her I only wanted a trim, and she did just that. She suggested some deep conditioning treatments to try, but didn't pressure me to purchase any particular products. The atmosphere was wonderful. Everyone was extremely friendly. Sandy chatted with me and made me feel very welcome and taken care of. To top it all off, she charged me a very reasonable price for the shampoo, cut, and blowdry. I will reccomend her to all of my friends and I will be going back for my next cut :) Pros: Reasonably priced, Friendly, Classy Cons: None that I noticed more

I found Robert and Salon Canvass through City Search. I needed to find a new hairdresser and I'm glad that I found him. The other review about Robert is true. I love my hair. I had my hair weaved and he matched my existing color perfectly. He also suggested some lowlights for more dimention. My hair looks so much better than I used to have with my old hairdresser. After searching and searching I found Canvass Salon and made an appointment with Sandy. She did a wonderful job! I just had a cut but I'll be returning shortly for highlights.
