Salars Mediterranean Grill

My wife and I went here with an open mind, and were not disapponted. This is a Persian restaurant, with an influence from the central part of the country. The food is authentic, not the Lebanese/American version of the same spices are subtle and garlic not overused. The flavors in the Baba Ganoosh were great, roasted with garlic and onions and peeled and mashed, not blended into a paste like hummous. The service was excellent, Bryttani was attentive, even though it was slow, and was taking the time to check every fork and glass for cleanliness. The lamb special was cooked snd spiced well, and the marrow tasty. Portions are larger, so take that into account. Not a large but good selection of wines to complement. Tea and coffee at the right strength/temperature. Ambiance good, low volume classical, of a Mediterranean influence. Overall very clean, including the bathrooms. A high recommend for those that like Persian food. They are ok if you bring your own to-go containers to be eco friendly. (a-la Portlandia style). more

Stumbled onto this place and were more than surprised..and happy! We had the excellent Mediterranean platter to start.. Hummus, grape leaves and excellent stuffed peppers...the rest of the meal was also delicious. Curried Chicken and Beef in a tasty spicy tomato sauce..Service. Attentive and pleasant. Ambiance .. so nice for Beaverton - elegant but relaxed. We are world travelers.. this is Persian food with a bit of Morocco and other influences.. don't expect it to be identical to Alexis or other Greek food.. it is quite good and with a much appreciated different taste. Excellent food - we had stuffed peppers and lamb shank which were done perfectly. The Pita bread was thin, cold and chewy - they can afford to invest in better bread rather than buying from Safeway. Waitress was excellent and attentive but the hostess/owner is a GRUMP! Not a smile, minimal greeting and no communication that I could see with her staff.
