Sala Thai is located just north of Eastern Market in downtown Detroit. It's in an old converted firehouse and there is immediate parking behind and to the side of the building.
The food is very good and you get extraordinarily large entrees. In fact, the Pad Thai was almost enough to feed two people! It was delicious, although not as good as Basil Thai, in Livonia. The interior decor is very appealing and the restaurant also has a bar inside. The tables are very large and comfortable, although at times I felt like I was sitting too far away from my date.
The prices were reasonable for the entree size.
This is probably the best ethnically asian cuisine in the greater downtown area although it's not really in walking distance from anything else (besides Eastern Market) so you'll have to drive.
