My parents pre-paid their funeral expenses decades ago and my mother took me at the time to see where their double plot would be. The cemetery was lovely, grass cut and well-tend...

insider info 2/26/2010

As a former employee of Sacramento Memorial Lawn I have to say you would be doing your loved ones a great disservice to have their services here. I quit due to disagreements with management over handling of families. They charge people for everything. They have even started charging people to look up grave sites. This process literally takes about 1 minute but will set you back $35 dollars or more. I know for a fact that they have lost bodies and contracts and have even buried people in wrong locations. Of course when this happens the burden of proof is on the family as if they don't have enough to worry about. They had an embalmer that performed unauthorized liposuction's on people so they would fit in caskets and on at least two occasions they have "buried" cremated people in the wrong location. I was instructed to get the money and no matter what and let future staff worry about issues. When I started work I found cremated remains in unmarked urns shoved in closets that no one knew about. Their pricing is outrageous considering the neighborhood and they prey on people who already have family there. be careful if you decide to bury a loved there there mark up is at least 350% of their cost. If you do bury there do not buy a marker from them it is criminal what they charge. I finally quit because I could not stand how poorly they treated the families that came to them in need. I have decided to be cremated and scattered as a result of my tenure there and I urge you to go anywhere but Sacramento Memorial Lawn. more

Remember its not the people its the Corporation 2/26/2010

People fail to realize that this location is no longer a mom and pop runed Mortuary. It’s now owed by a corporation in which there main focuses is on quantity. The employees are wonderful well mannered. Willing to give their all this place has so much to offer. If one doesn't just came in with assumptions. Also the main problem is that it just needs some TLC. It is one of the oldest mortuaries in the area. So just give it a try and you'll be impressed.. more

The worst 2/15/2010

Leaking roof and unsightly side walks make this the worst cemetery I have ever seen. High prices should reflect a nice place but if you want to be pissed off with your decision then try it, other wise look for some where else. more

Thanks SML Staff. 7/17/2009

I wanted to visit a grave at SML and live out of state. I called the day before being in Sacramento to ask about the location of the grave and they told me to just come in the office and they would help me. I assumed the worst and that I would get hassled or blown off. Boy was I wrong !! They immediately accessed the location of the grave and a friendly staff member actually drove me a long ways in a golf cart to the site. I find people generally assume that they are going to get bad service and expect it. It also seems that people forget the excellant service they receive but never forget the bad. Thanks SML for the generous and outstanding help in assisting me. more

The Cemetary is a mess! 7/13/2009

My mother, grandparents, aunts, uncles, great aunts and uncles and cousins are buried there. I went out there yesterday and surprised was to see how run down and how many markers are sinking in the ground. The lawn was overgrown and brown, the markers were a mess, it was really very sad to see this place that is suppose to be so peaceful, it is a shame that my family is in such a ghetto looking place as their final resting place. What happen to the dignity and respect for our loved ones who have passed away? You should be ashamed of yourselves! more

Rude, rude, rude 6/8/2009

Called on Thursday requesting information regarding grave marker restrictions. They took all the information I had. Promised to return the call. They did not return the call. This puts at least a four day delay on ordering the marker. I called on Monday, and Annette hung up on me. I would like them to please return calls in a timely fashion. more

Not my first or last choice 3/3/2009

Sacramento Memorial Lawn is a disgrace. My father's plot is always is disrepair. Multiple times I have had to repair his site. He is buried in the LDS section. I have even painted the BIG LDS letters located in that area of the cemetary, and done it more than once! My grandparents are buried in the wall not far from there and their plaques are often loose. My mother will be buried there w/my father. After that I am washing my hands of that run down dump! more

IF YOUR PARENTS PASS, DON'T PUT THEM HERE 1/16/2009

I WENT TO VISIT MY FATHER FOR HIS BIRTHDAY ON JANUARY 8, 2009 & WAS DISGUSTED. THE LAWNS ARE DEAD, MY MOMS NAME PLAQUE WAS SPELLED INCORRECT, THERE IS LITTER ALL OVER THE GROUNDS AND THE FRAMES AROUND THE CRYPTS ARE MISSING. MY FIRST EXPERIENCE W/SML IN MARCH 08 WASN'T GOOD WHEN WE PUT MY FATHER TO REST BUT, THEN, IN APRIL 08 WHEN WE PUT MY MOTHER TO REST, TT WAS THE WORST EXPERIENCE ONE PERSON SHOULD NEVER HAVE TO GO THROUGH. AS MY PARENTS WERE "SUPPOSED" TO BE "PRE-ARRANGED", MY MOTHER HAD TO PAY $5000, WHY? DON'T KNOW. AND, THERE WAS A MISPRINT ON THE MEMORIAL CARDS. THEN 5 WKS LATER WHEN MY MOM PASSED, THEY WANTED TO CHARGE ME FOR THE REMOVAL TO "ANOTHER CREMATORY" (BECAUSE THEIRS IS SHUT DOWN WHICH WE DIDN'T KNOW ABOUT)WHEN I TOLD THEM, "MY DAD JUST PASSED LAST MONTH AND I DON'T HAVE THE MONEY" CAN WE MAKE PAYMENTS? TO SAY THE LEAST, WE ENDED UP GOING SOMEWHERE ELSE BUT STILL USING THE CRYPT JUST BECAUSE DAD WAS ALREADY THERE AND, BECAUSE THE MEMORIAL SERVICE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE "PRE-ARRANGEMENT", WE HAD TO GET OUR OWN CHAPLAIN. THE GRACIOUS CHAPLIN WARD AND HIS DEDICATED SERVICE DOG BLUE OFFERED THEIR SERVICES AT NO CHARGE. SML IS A RIP-OFF. M.L. more

Sacramento Memorial is a great one-stop place that handles all of your needs. They have a funeral chapel, viewing rooms, a cemetery, a crematory, and even a florist shop. All in one location, and their prices are very reasonable. The staff really knows what they are doing, and are the best in town at it! more
