South Louisiana Medical Associates located in Houma was formed in 1978 to serve as an educational affiliate of the Alton Ochsner Medical Foundation.SLMA was founded with a public mission including teaching and training of residents in all major specialties providing them hands-on experiences under the direct supervision of a full time medical staff. A "Provider" Partnership was forged with Leonard J. Chabert Medical Center to deliver these services. SLMA has practice affiliations with independent medical providers and organizations to provide care to communities throughout south Louisiana.
