I walked into Salon Ziba looking for highlights, the super friendly front desk people got me in right away with Lauriane who converted me to Balyage...I LOVE IT! I can't believe t...

I came to Salon Ziba for a New Year's updo based on the reviews I've seen on Citysearch. BIG MISTAKE. My stylist would not let me pick out what up-do I wanted. I told her multi...

The Second Floor is Where to Go! 9/3/2006

I had heard terrible things about Salon Ziba so I never went. However I was let in on the secret, the 2nd floor is where the REALLY hair dressers work. Most of the reviews you read on here are about the ground floor hair stylists. I happen to read the below review about Adrianna and decide what the hell, I'll try it. I phoned in for a consultation, LOVED Adrianna the moment I met her, felt I could trust her and decided to go with highlights and a hair cut. Pros: quality, experience, reasonably priced for NYC Cons: The ground floor gives them a bad rep more

Be objective and you'll get what you asked for 8/25/2006

I've had my hair cut by at least 4 different people in this salon in the past few years. They all had different styles and personalities, but I don't remember ever being disatisfied. Pros: Attention Cons: punctuality more

Depends on who you get 8/10/2006

I went here about a month ago because it was near my new office and had a great, quick, cut by Felipe. He was great, and cut my hair exactly how I asked him to. Pros: Fast walk-ins Cons: TOO fast stylists more

Don't waste your time 6/13/2006

I went to update my roots after getting highlights somewhere else. Apparantly, the stylist convinved me to get all-over highlights, bc she charged me way more than just a touch up. The color was bad. Then, to boot, she asked me if I wanted my hair dried, of course I did! She passed me onto another guy who literally just shot a hairdryer at my head for 2 minutes and then sent me on my way with frizzy hair-I could dry it way better myself! When I got up to the counter to pay, I was floored that it cost over $200-they charged me $35 and called drying my hair ""styling"" it. I am NOT a fan of this place. more

Don't go to Salon Ziba 2/27/2006

I went here with intentions of getting highlights and a haircut. I told the stylist what I wanted and she talked me out of it, though it had been done at Ziba before. She told me she would do something comparable and did not do it--probably because of time (she was busy with other customers). After waiting too long for a haircut, I decided to just get my hair dried. They dry it in under 5 min. and they charge me $35. When I complain they say I could've dried it myself. ps. my hair color looks almost the same as when I started. more

Haircuts 12/8/2005

These people should not be allowed scissors, not even childproof ones. Not only was I told what haircut I was going to have but the hairdresser in question then failed to produce it. more

Good, inexpensive haircut 9/8/2005

Salon Ziba's downstairs facility can be a hit-or-miss proposition. If you find a good stylist, however, it's a great deal. My husband and I both swear by Alan. On my last visit, Alan did a great job of updating my look without giving me a crazy or hard-to-maintain haircut--for less than $50! Yes, the decor is a little tacky, and no, no one will offer you a latte while you get your bangs trimmed. But for a good, inexpensive haircut at a convenient location, Salon Ziba is a find. The hours are a definite plus, too. Pros: Good stylists, Convenient location, Inexpensive Cons: Decor more

Shirley Temple 5/28/2005

I went here to get my hair cut not too long ago. I have curly hair, and the ""stylist"" would not cut off as much as I wanted to. He kept telling me it would look bad and he wouldn't do it. (I've had it short before and I loved it). So instead of doing what I wanted he cut off a little bit and then spent twenty minutes putting pounds of gel in my hair and trying to make my small, tight curls into large shirley temple-like curls. I looked ridiculous. Gel was literally dripping from my head. THAT IS NOT A GOOD SIGN. I wouldn't have paid 10 dollars for that service and he charged me 50. Do not go to this salon, especially if you have curly hair. They don't know what to do. Cons: don't listen, over priced, rude more

They don't listen 1/2/2005

I came to Salon Ziba for a New Year's updo based on the reviews I've seen on Citysearch. BIG MISTAKE. My stylist would not let me pick out what up-do I wanted. I told her multiple times how she was making my hair too high in the front and that was not what I wanted. She responded with ""With your face, this is the only style you will look good in."" How's that for customer service. I was so upset with my hair and the way I was treated that it really put a damper on my night. This may be an isolated incident but I doubt it. Don't risk it. Pros: Location Cons: , Bad Job, No Hot Water more

Wonderful 2/19/2004

I have been seeing the same stylist at Salon Ziba for the last six years. It is one of the better salons in mid-town with reasonable prices. Over all the services there have been done in a professional manner and with no attitude. Pros: friendly atmosphere, affordable, fashionable more

??? 10/20/2003

Overall, ok. Prices aren't bad, stay away from downstairs cutters! Upstairs is a bit pricey but better edged cutters. The shampoo people have to cut their nails and learn to not spray in people's faces!!!! Pros: clean Cons: Noisy, Shampooing awful more
