I've been going here for years. Used to be only hardcore hardware guys worked there, now there's a few clerk types also, but they're still the most knowledgeable store. You can actually ask them how to do something and they'll tell you what you need, as opposed to other stores like the one across the street, where they might carry what you want, they might even know where it is, but they won't know how to use it.\r

It's a regular hardware store, they don't sell furnishings or dishes, just the stuff to do the job. They have the same drawback as other stores in Manhattan--their inventory is not vast, but at least they can tell you what they need.
