Best

Okay, I never write reviews. I rarely have the time. But I HAD to write a review for Ruth's Chris tonight. We went there for an early dinner since it was booked solid the night...

If you like a steak that is pricy and tastes like butter than eat at Ruth's Chris Steak House. Pros: nice ambience, good bread, good salad Cons: buttery tasting steak, hig...

Not worth the money 9/25/2006

Ruth's Chris is a nice place to go but if you just want to go for the food, I suggest you going elsewhere. Their food is just average, something you can make at home. All I taste is mainly butter. The garlic mashed potatoes had no garlic taste, only butter. The food is good but not worth about $200 for 2. Like I said, for that price, you can get better and more food somewhere else. I also felt tricked because of the water. A waiter asked if we either want sparkling water or bottled water. We picked bottled water and when the bill came, that bottle of water was $8 (if I remembered right). I just assumed that is how Ruth's Chris serve water. Do not make the same mistake people. Another thing, when I made the reservations, they asked me if it was for a birthday, anniversary, etc. I told them that it was for a birthday but they didn't do anything special for us. Since they asked, I expected them to have a little something for the birthday guests but nothing. Everything's worth a try but I just hope that you won't regret it like how I do. Cons: price more

Great time out! 7/6/2006

The food here is simple yet delicious. The steak was so juicy and buttery...and the service was exceptional. They were not about to let your glass go empty. Pros: Steaks, Bread Pudding Cons: Pricey more

Best I've Had in the City 2/14/2006

I've eaten at Alfred's, Morton's, Lotus, Carnelian Room, Julius' Castle, Houston's, etc... Ruth's Chris has been my favorite. The steaks are perfect, the prawn appetizer is delicious, the garlic mashed potatoes are incredible and the service has always been good. They make a perfect filet mignon. I cannot think of anything bad to say about this restaurant. If only they had Kobe... Pros: Steaks, Mashed Potatoes, Service more

Wow, wow, wow!!! PERFECT DINNER! 1/3/2006

I have to say, this may be one of the finest dining experiences ever. I'd been to the Ruth's Chris in New Orleans some years ago, and have had my fair share of fine steaks in my day, but what made an impression on me, almost more than the food, was the service. What a difference good service makes! I may not even need to mention the food--it's incredible. The gumbo was delicious, the salads crispy and tasty, the bread hot and soft, the lobster succulent, and the beef--oh, the filet mignon!! But you already know the food is exceptional--let me get back to the service. Our waiter, and the entire staff, had us completely satisfied. His drink selections were right on, and he was able to perfectly balance catering to our occasional neediness, and not being overzealous with his presence. Absolutely wonderful dining experience!! Pros: astounding service, delectable food, A+ experience more

Ruth Chris 8/14/2005

This place is pretty expensive, but worth the splurge every once and a while. The steaks are cooked perfectly and the creamed spinach is to die for. Also, they make a mean martini. more

Best steak in the World!!!! 7/16/2005

Im a culinary school grad and this is the best steak u can get....and the morons who complain about about 10$ for the sides dont realize they feed 2-3 people. And I spent 90$ for two people...not 200. Almost didnt go because of a few negative reviews...but glad i ignored and went...a real winnner. Pros: food more

Good food, too expensive 7/10/2005

The food and steak here is good, but not great. The only thing that stands out is there service, ambiance, oh and the prices. It is very expensive here, you're mainly paying for service and ambiance. I personally go to restaurants for the food, and not for the service. But if you got the money and you don't mind spending about $50 a person for a special occasion, go try it out. Pros: Service, Ambiance Cons: Value, Price more

Great food but packed house 6/27/2005

Ever just want a fat steak? Its not cheap, but the steak is above par and the side dishes are amazing. I recommend the sweet potato casserole (with brown sugar and pecan crust!) and the grilled tomatoes. I may get all side dishes the next time I visit! Once you get to your table the service is stellar, but the place is packed and even with a reservation (don't bother without one) you may have to wait. A mojito at the bar will help cool your jets - its not bad. Skip dessert, I wasn't impressed. (Or order more sweet potatoes!) And valet park. PROS: Steaks, side dishes, table service CONS: Crowded, a little pricey, dessert not worth your time more

Can't go wrong 6/9/2005

I don't think you can ever get a bad meal at Ruth Chris, no matter what city you chose. The steaks are always cooked to perfection. Their seafood specials are good as well but I think steak is really their thing. more

Good, but not that good for the $ 6/6/2005

I live in San Francisco, and I've been one time. I doubt that I will return. It wasn't a bad experience. The steaks were fine, but for the prices they charge, it wasn't worth it. The ala carte rib eye for $34.00 was only slightly better than a $18-20 ""lesser chain"" full course meal. The sides were large, but the waiter did tell us in advance. The overall service was adaquate, but a little forced and insincere. Pros: large portions, good steaks, good location Cons: over priced, insincere service, noisy more

excellent!!! 4/30/2005

This is the best steakhouse in the world in my opinion. every city I visit, I look for a Ruth's Chris Steakhouse. The food is excellent, the staff attentive, and whether you make a reservation or come as a walkin, there is very little waiting. Pros: Good Food, No Waiting, Attentive Staff Cons: None at all more

The Steak's Great 3/8/2005

The steak is cooked to order and the sides are divine. Cons: No Parking, Need to make Reservat, Expensive more

Ugh 9/28/2004

The time before the salad and the entre arrive within minutes of each other. I chalked it up to an new wait person. The last time we had to wait 15 beyond our reservation time to be seated in an empty dining room where we had to wait another 10 minutes before I had to interupt a huddle of 4 wait staff to order our drinks. After the drink arrived and dinner order taken we had to wait another 10 minutes after the waiter said he would send over the salads. Poor management is the only excuse. I'll return to Harris's. more

Too much for too little 6/27/2004

Went to dinner after the opera. There were four in our party. Were set down quickly and was not given choice of booth or table, many available. Service was good, for the price i paid 160.00 for two with only water, and coffee to drink. My wife cooks a better steak at home. Was not impressed with there tough steaks, and fatty. Everything ala carte but 10.00 for side dishes get real. Will not go back again and WILL NOT RECOMMEND TO FRIENDS (If you want to keep them) VERY OVERATED!! I do alot of dining out. Pros: , service Cons: , Steaks, Ala Carte more

Good steak, but ... 5/27/2004

The food itself was great, but service and ambiance were awful. Several of us complained about the obnoxious businessmen next to us, but the restaurant did nothing. Greeter had attitude. We had to flag down our waiter for service, water, etc. Food took forever to arrive. For $180+ for 2 people, I was very disappointed. Never going back. Pros: Pretty surroundings, Good steak Cons: , Noisy, Bad service more

RC Palm Springs is better 5/20/2004

For those of you who continue to compare RC to Outback Steakhouse (OS), please, get a clue. If ANYONE considers that comparison, it's clear you don't know steaks (or food). I want to an OS once: when I stuck in a no-name city close to the airport. God-awful food. Period. RC San Francisco is not as good as RC Palm Springs or RC Chicago. I don't know if they use frozen beef in SF, but I think the steaks are average. Service on our visiting night was fine so no complaints there. The steak looked great, cooked just right (med-rare), but it was somewhat flavorless. As for the price, who cares? If you want Safeway or Albertson's steaks, then you need to go to Outback. Pros: Service more

Extremely disappointing 4/4/2004

Service was awkward, inept, and rude. The steaks were mediocre, at best. I took my boyfriend here for his birthday, hoping for a special celebration for him. A mutual friend had called ahead and ordered a very special cabernet to be sent to our table, only the waiter brought a bottle of champagne instead. We were surprised to get champagne as neither of us drinks it- but unfortunately didnt discover the mistake until days later. The food was disappointing, although the steaks- we had a new york and filet- were at least cooked right. Definately will not be back, and Im sorry my boyfriends birthday dinner was such a flop. Cons: , service, price more

Best of the Bay Area 3/7/2004

By far the most dynamic and best restaurant in the Bay area. Sizzling juicy steaks and a varied menu. I highly recommend accompanying the Porter House for two with asparagus, augratin potatoes and the steak house salad. Throw in a bottle of Beringer White Zinfandal and you have a meal fit for a King and Queen! Great location, the most dedicated staff and a great atmosphere. Pros: Atmosphere, Location, Food more

Wonderful Restaurant!! 2/17/2004

We were pleasantly surprised that the inside of the restaurant was so nice and comfortable. The staff was very attentive. The food was fabulous from the Lobster Bisque to the Steak and Lobster, and oh the Creamed Spinach was absolutely wonderful. Get there early for parking!! Pros: Ambiance, Food, Staff more

Love it! 10/21/2003

I've eaten at Ruth's Chris many times, since I live up the street from it. True, it is pricey, and I probably wouldn't go with a group larger than 6 unless I was prepared to spend several hundred dollars, but dinner for two with drinks is about $100, and I always enjoy it. My steak is always prepared as I ask for it--never over or undercooked. The sides are large, so share! I love their gin and tonics...a perfect pre-dinner drink. The ambience is intimate and romantic, so it's a good place for a date--if you want lots and lots of food! Perhaps a better place to go when you're in need of comfort food, and can go home and collaps after being throughly stuffed. Pros: Good food, Romantic ambience, Good service Cons: Expensive more
