CLINIC YOU CAN TRUST! 2/4/2011

I'm disabled person, but I always can count on this clinic. Everytime I need to bring in one of my cats,I just call and Dominic, one of the technicians, comes to pick up my cats, Dr. Ramos and his staff have been my vet for many years and I really trust and I will recommend them! more

Hippty Hop! 11/14/2010

I've been to other vets in the city and this one is by far the best. My little rabbit Bugsy wasn't feeling well and to my surprise when Dr. Ramos took a picture on her body we found that she was pregnant! I can't believe she was sold to me this way!! anyway now I have 3 little babies, I will recommend this clinic because they are very professional and have moderate prices. And you should see what a cute cat they have, his name is Batman. more

He's a Girl 9/15/2010

Wow what a funny visit! The doctor told me my pet was a female after I believed he was a male!! I loved the attention and professionalism. Good Prices, Appointment available anytime. I liked the secretaries very much. Now I have to change his name from Paul to Paula!! more

what a joke! 9/9/2010

I pride myself in being a good pet owner and super polite client but this so-called vet- J. ramos was so blatantly unprofessional during my last visit. I find him arrogant and suffering from Napoleons complex-always rushing thru the exams with my pets and does not have the patience to really explain what the problem and solutions are. He speaks loudly and over you and not clearly. He acts like he does not want to be there to explain to you. Any pet owner knows it stressful enough that your pet is dying or very sick. My pet is both. On our last visit this man's behavior became totally unacceptable. In the middle of my explaining to him how i fed the medicine to my dying dog, something sets him off and he over-reacted with what I was saying-screaming at his office manager, gets up, CURSES and storms out of the waiting room. That is not the sane actions of a adult man! He behaved like a child with a temper tantrum maybe because he had a bad morning or personal problems? I dont give a damn! It was UNACCEPTABLE! I have paid thousands of dollars to his establishment. Some amount I question he just tacked on. But I paid it to get my pets better. whole weeks of my paycheck. My main concern is to get the care needed to get my pets better. Clearly J. ramos has anger issues and should not pretend to be a compassionate healer of animals. his job is to provide and correct diagnose and then offer treatment. It is not a matter if doesnt not like the owners but be a PROFESSIONAL! No one should be made to feel how i felt that morning like i was at his mercy because my pet is dying and needs care. I did not go there to be cursed at. His office manger kept apologizing for his unnecessary outbursts but I have lost respect for this person and most importantly trust in his competence. It left such a bad taste and memory that i will no longer require his half-ass services. It is a shame because the ladies at this office are very nice and loving to the animals, hopefully they will not learn to be like this clown. more

Beautiful Place 9/4/2010

I was just at this clinic at 11am with my dog Sophie Schauber for her first visit. We would like to thank them for their services and the manner in which the staff attended all our and Sophie's needs as soon as we entered the clinic. We loved the professionalism of the staff and we will be proud to recommend this clinic to all our family and friends. more

Same proposed treatment every time 8/14/2010

Since 2003 I have taken 6 resuce cats for initial care and some of these still live with me. I have finally learmed my lession today. This is my closest vet and because I am a people doctor I thought I could safe guard against Dr Ramos' bizarre diagnositic schemes but whats the point of wasting my time refusing unnecessary tests when he has no idea what the diagnosis is? No matter what issue that I have brought a cat in for he presents me with the same diagnositic and treatment plan: IV antibiotics, oral antibiotics, xrays, urine, thyroid tests and those stupid torture collars. One cat had an eye infection and he proposed IV antibiotics and I confronted him with the fact that the eye is a "priviledged site" meaning antibiotics don't penetrate from the blood stream and he said he would have to look that up. Today, I just wasted travel time and $67 for an exam and left declining the $800 proposed treatment and left with a cat no closer to well. In the last 7 years there are many more vets in the neighborhood so if I have to travel farther with a cat crying on the bus at least I wont be wasting my time. Unfortunately everyone can not apply the principles of people medicine to their animals and question their vets. Dr Ramos would be out of business if he was an MD. Rule of thumb about vets: if you the human were sick and you needed every test imaginable would you agree with your doctor to undergo them and would your insurance pay? If not then it not your animal either. more

I was treated with care! 5/20/2010

I have a snake Python that got some different colors in the skin and he couldn't shed and didnt wanna eat. The doctor found out that the problem was very simple it was low humidity in the tank. I just spray with warm water and now Sandy is doing much better. Pros: They see exotics & Good hours Cons: Too many dogs in waiting room more

don't take your cat or dog there you will regret it 4/22/2010

wow i cant believe how bad and aggressive these people are omg..i took my pet in march this year for small surgery and they perform it ..it cast me $800...one week later my cat is still sick and they decided to do second surgery but wait it is exactly the same procedure that they perform week before ...after 2 surgery's and $1600 my cat is still with same problem ..i decided to take it elsewhere and new veterinarian is telling me why did they do second procedure coz it was unnecessary and torture for cat ..my cat went through 3 surgery's coz of them now i am disputing second charge and going to small court coz they don't deserve to be there ..they don't help animals they torture them that is there motto Pros: none Cons: everything from stuff to vet more

Good News Great Vet in Washington Heights! 4/21/2010

I went there with my dog who was very sick, he had a lump on his chest. The doctor did a biopsy and it was cancerous they did surgery as soon as they could, removed the lump and now my dog is free of cancer! I would greatly recommend this place. Pros: Excellent Medicine, Good Staff & Fast Cons: little bit pricey more

This is the cat place! 2/9/2010

I took my cat sophia to see the doctor and I'm very pleased with my visit. They where very gentle and the I felt the doctor understood exactly how she felt. She is about 15 and doesn't like to go out. She was okay even after her visit. more

Convenient, professionalism, good service 1/31/2010

I like this place because I can buy my cat's prescription food, my dog food, groom them, leave them for hotel when I go away for vacation, and also have a Doctor there, to take care of them, everything in the same place, I don't have to go downtown, or somewhere else, this clinic is conveniently located close to my house. I feel great when I board my pets there, because I know that if something happen, they will be under professional supervision every day, is not like having a pet sitter going for 5 minutes to your house and feeding them. Their boarding facilities are clean and comfortables for them. Both Doctors had taken care of my pets and I think they are wonderful. I haven't had any problems ever there, I think they are great and affordable. Pros: Variety of Services Cons: No 24hours emergency services more

Great Practice 1/17/2010

My cat felt so comfertable at this practice, I myself was surprised. Having a fiesty kitty, I'm usually weary about bringing her out. Since I already buy my cat food their I decided to ask a couple questions and was advised to come in just for a routine check up. My kitty is a happy healthy fur ball and I'm happy I had a wonderful experience here. Since my visit the doctor has been available at any time to answer my random questions, I worry a lot having an older kitty. Pros: Helpful, sensitive & always available more

Woof Woof this is the bark in town! 12/5/2009

I had a very good experience here, The doctor was kind and patient with my dog Rocky and the staff was very kind and helpful. Everytime Rocky passes through the clinic he wants to come in for a treat! Pros: Facility looks clean, Great service good doctor Cons: A little bit pricey.. more

SCAM ARTIST--Do Not Go There--Avoid at all Cost!!! 12/1/2009

I found out, after the fact--these people are NOT affiliated with the Riverside Animal Hospital. Vet is uninvolved in the examination and allows the tech to do all the preliminary work. Estimates a huge bill ($1,000+) with procedures that may or may not have anything to do with the diagnosis (since they are just guessing). No one is there during the night and your animal could be (probably will be) dead by the time someone shows up in the morning. You have no idea whether or not they did any of the things that you paid for since they do no allow you to see what they are doing. It is too late for me, but maybe you can save yourself and your pet from a painful experience that you will not soon forget. Pros: Nothing positive about this veterinarian experience Cons: Horrible and incompetent--took advantage of the situation more

Can walk in anytime... 10/16/2009

My first visit, I walked in with a kitten I just rescued from outside. And although appts weren't until the afternoon the doctor came in the morning. I'm happy to have come in because as it turned out the kitten had fleas and worms, I have other cats at home and I don't want any of them getting anything. I was given a kitten kit nd the proper medication for the worms. I'm happy with their service, they were able to help me with the newest member of my family. Pros: Good Hours, Clean , Great staff & good variety food Cons: None more

This place is a rip off!!! 10/8/2009

I bought a puppy and she just hit 3 months and the boutique where i bought her from said she only needed 2 more shots. I took all her papers and shots list, and they couldn't even read them!!! my dog never coughs but for some reason that day she was coughing cuz of her leash. Dr ramos comes in and dos his "examination" which was to weigh her and look at her butt and after his 30 sec examination he said she was super sick and had "canine corona virus" and that she couldn't get her last 2 shots until she gets that fixed which cost $600 plus an extra $200 for extra shots that she dosn't even need. They did NOTHING to her but tell me she weighed 5 pounds...and i paid $65 for it.. Listen people i am also a latino. But please take ur dog to an american vet...Latinos only want to take more and more money from you.. Pros: No pros Cons: Lots of them! more

One Stop Shop 7/27/2009

Excellent vets, I brought my three cats on a Saturday for vaccinations and check ups, And I couldn't believe it in 20 minutes I was already out of their. My cats never even felt the injections, It was a great experience. They even called me the next day to know how my pets were doing. Pros: Quick, Your in and out Cons: Can be a liittle too busy more

Close(by) but no cigar 6/17/2009

I brought my cat in because he swallowed a small bit of onion that is supposed to be poisonous. The receptionist presented me with a long list of suggested treatments, totalling to about $1200, and asked me to sign for consent. I told her I needed to speak to the doctor about these items before I would sign, and she cautioned that there wasn't much time--they needed to begin treatment soon. I told them I would consent to the emetic and the charcoal (does charcoal even bind to onions?) Then the doctor came to speak to me about the other treatments in the same hurried, gotta-save-your-cat-NOW sort of way. Pros: Conveniently close; competent enough. Cons: Padded medical recommendations--you need to watch your back. more

Comfort Feeling 4/3/2009

Was after hours when my pet injured his foot at the park. I called Riverside Animal Clinic even though they where closed, they told me to rush in. They treated my dogs foot, which was bleeding, and treated me with care and respect. Because of this I will only go to this clinic. Pros: Good Staff, Excellent Doctors Cons: Difficult Parking more

Please take this seriously! 12/21/2008

The positive reviews must be from friends of the staff because they are testifying to the complete opposite of my experience at this clinic. I am a well informed pet owner and medical professional. This was absolutely the worst experience I have ever had taking any of my pets to a veterinarian. The doctor "examined" my elderly cat for about 30 seconds and then sent in his tech with a bill filled with "recommendations" from the vet. This included treatments that were not only unnecessary, but could have harmed my pet due to her advanced age. It was the tech not the vet that kept revising the list whenever I questioned some of the treatments. This vet does not have your pet's best interest at heart. Please don't take your pet to this vet just because he is the most convenient to where you live. I spent $400 and feel like I need to have my cat reexamined by a competent professional. more
