Bad customer service, never even got delivery 7/12/2009

I called Rome's pizza at 5pm on a Sunday and was put on hold until disconnected. I called back and was put back on hold briefly. My bad, I should have known there to call another restaurant. Pros: The pizza isn't terrible when you go to the restaurant Cons: If you order delivery pizza, you may go hungry more

Excellent food, week after week 6/25/2009

We go there at least once a week for lunch, and it's really something we look forward to all week. Their slices are always piled with toppings, and the Greek salad is superb - cold, crisp, with lots of feta and olives. Their stromboli is also always a treat when it's available. Danny (the counter guy, the manager, or whatever his position is) is always very welcoming, if not a little manic, but that adds to the spirit of the place. The lunch specials are very good too; only 5.99 for two slices and a drink, or a slice, salad and drink. They've just redone their decor, and it now has a very nice feel. Pros: Great food, good price Cons: Can't eat there every day. more

Not New York, or Chicago, but San Antonio, Baby!!! 2/20/2009

I love this pizza! The one on Bitter's Rd has the best tasting pizza of the three, and with the ""Dirty Italian"" running the shop, expect no less! If I go out for pizza, it is always Rome's! The decor is uninspiring, but I'm not eating the light fixtures! The ""Dirty Italian,"" a nickname my friends and I have given the manager, is a whoot, and takes great delight in rubbing elbows with the customers, and ""hitting on"" the ladies. I personally recommend the ""Rome's Deluxe!"" I also had them ""cater"" my wedding rehearsal dinner, and people could not stop talking about how good the pizza was! A grand slam!!! Pros: the ""dirty Italian"" Cons: uninspired decor more

AWFUL!!! 12/26/2008

The pizza crust was hard, dry and empty in flavor. The BLAND tomato sauce only covered the center of the pizza. The pepperoni, sausage and vegetables are lightly sprinkled on the pizza. You are lucky if you get ONE pepperoni slice on your slice of pizza. I have tried them a few times in the past and they have just gotten worse. more

Amazing food 7/22/2008

I've only had delivery from Rome's, but the food was FANTASTIC. Some of the best pizza I've ever had in my life (and I also lived in NY)! Pros: Incredible food, nice service over phone Cons: Long delivery times more

Not open on time 7/11/2008

My girlfriend and I have tried to go to the Bitters location several times. We have arrived there after 11 and the store was not open on at least three different occassions. The store not opening on time has also occured when I went to take my parents. The store serves good pizza, but since I only have an hour lunch break from work I cannot wait for fifteen to twenty minutes for the store to open. The service is mediocre and the employees are not friendly. The only perk is the food, which I can certainly live without. If you are planning to go to Rome's I would definately suggest the DeZavala location instead. The service at that location is much better, friendlier, and faster. Pros: Good pizza Cons: Store opens late and workers are not friendly more

Consistently late opening 7/11/2008

This is not really a review as I arrived at the Bitters Rd. location AFTER the store was to have opened. I waited out on the patio for almost ten minutes and walked to the door at least three times. I feel sure that I was noticed by the employees inside. At 11:15 my family and I then decided to go to a nearby restaurant where we ate their pizza (for the first time). Our dining experience at the competitor was so delightful I do not think we will attempt to dine at the Bitters location ever again (although we will return to the DeZavala location). Cons: Consistently late opening more

Hidden fees 4/7/2008

the food is great, but watch out for the hidden fees. I was just charged $1 because my order did not include a pizza, just their other products. they will also charge you a credit card surcharge if you use a credit card. more

poor customer service X 2!!! 3/24/2008

i have ordered from Rome's for my office meetings for 2 1/2 years now...i consider the food great so i put up with the rude and lude comments that rome or who ever the togo order taker would continously make everytime i placed an order....i can take a joke but what is not funny is sending my order to the wrong suite number and not even acknowledge with a phone call, apology, discount NOTHING!!!! totally awful i worked in the restaurant business for 5 years and would have never treated a repeat customer this way! I suppose Rome's believes they are TOO MACHO for good customer service...asking and drooling over my shoe size over the phone just is not going to cut it guys!!! you have lost a whole company and myself as a customer...take a class on customer service ROMES because you guys are sad!!!! more

Aweful phone service 12/14/2007

We used to order pizza from this place and liked it. However, service was terrible. We called to inquire about our pizza when it was over an hour late and the girl who answered the phone was rude and hung up on us twice. Manager tried to rectify the situation but we will never order from them again. more

Maybe a good pie 12/7/2006

Their Pizza is somewhat near frozen pizza from HEB. They need to work on their sauce, not really tasteful. Pros: Ok, Decor Cons: Needs to consider better sauce on Pizza. more

eww gross 10/12/2006

i ate there and it was nasty i was gunna have diaria the best pizza place i ever ate at was ramis pizza its very good its the best i ever had they sell all sorts of italian food more

Love this place! 8/15/2006

My fiance and I have been having pizza here for the last 3 years, and the service and food are the still the same -- fantastic! I'm not a ""pizza snob"", but I like to think I know what tastes good, and Rome's goes above and beyond the few independent pizza places I've been to in town. Plenty of toppings, not heavy on the sauce, great service, decently priced and it fills you up. What more do you need? Pros: Great toppings selections, plenty of cheese, light on the sauce Cons: Don't care for the restaurant itself - prefer taking it to-go more

There are better options 8/9/2006

Rome's pizza is nothing to rave about, I can think of at least three places that are far superior. One of them is actually right around the corner, just opened. The selection of pizza topping is impressive, but I believe what makes the pizza is the crust, and romes just doesn't do it for me. Pros: Great Gyros Cons: Have had much better pizza more

Best Falafel 2/19/2006

Rome's may be a good place to get a pizza, but the best item on the menu has been entirely overlooked. Rome's has the best FALAFEL I have ever had in my life. They make it in long strips (instead of round balls), which changes the entire falafel experience. It is inexpensive (about $6.00) and most people probably won't be able to finish it because it is so huge. Pros: vegetarian friendly, good customer service, short wait for food Cons: too many kids more

The best pizza in town 2/12/2006

When you're tired of the same old Pizza Hut & Papa John's pizzas, try Rome's. Their combinations are delicious, they're always courteous and friendly, and they even deliver. Pros: Unique toppings, Made from scratch, authentic taste more

Not my fave 6/6/2005

Nice size place, colorful, but loud. Lots of kids. Not a place to relax. Food was so-so. Pizza was bland and flat. Not the best in San Antonio. Pros: big Cons: loud, food so-so, pizza bland more

great 1/31/2003
