Worst

This is definitely more of a club than a restaurant. Food is average at best, but prices are higher than at Spago. Been there twice - second time ate before and brought my own win...

Beautiful atmosphere & great entertainment 11/16/2009

A friend of mine took a group of us to this restaurant. I have to say that the atmosphere is by far the best I have been too. It kinda reminds you of old Hollywood with rich woods, dark red curtains, live band, and dance floor. There were 9 in our group so we had the buffet menu. I ordered the ribeye steak while my husband got the lamb chops. Prior to the main course coming to our table, we had ridiculously amounts of appetizers, cold salads, hot dishes, wine, vodka, etc., etc. It took a long time to get our main courses served to us, but it was worth the wait. The steak was amazing and my husband said they really know how to cook lamb, so I'm assuming that means it was good. The band played non stop, the dance floor was full and at some point some beautiful women in skimpy costumes got onto the bar and danced. Then at around midnight the acrobat show started. WOW! We left shortly after the acrobat show so not sure what happens from midnight to closing, but I'm sure we missed something special. Pros: Entertainment Cons: Service more

WAY OVERPRICED 12/14/2008

This is definitely more of a club than a restaurant. Food is average at best, but prices are higher than at Spago. Been there twice - second time ate before and brought my own wine and therefore enjoyed it more. Entertainment is o'key - they have one jazzy singer that is good. Interiors are beautiful, but overall everything is a bit sleazy and pretentious. Pros: interiors Cons: everything else more

THIS is a worst restoran I hav ever been, I am russian, But I feel sorry for the owner. First of all, I would fire the staff, whole staff, becouse, dorrman was trying to sell a whor....for 300$, bartender , was trying to sell the same whor... for 350 $ and the weiters was trying to sell that whor... for 400 $. So, my point is if you not hungry and you need a whor... , please go there)))))), minus - 10000000 Cons: Do you want to feel like a looser , please go there. WORST WORST WORST !!!!!!!!! more

worst experience EVER 9/12/2008

bad live pop russian music. very bad food. VERY. had big chef's menu. $$$ per person, 6 people. steak way overcooked and took over an hour to receive. ordered rare. received tough grey steak-shaped cardboard. asked if they can make it rare instead. was told, this is as rare as we can cook. asked manager, asked waitress, not possible to get a new steak. ""chef refuses to make a new one"" impossible to cut thru. customers treated pretty bad in this place. wayy overpriced chef's menu. AVOID. more

Great Place 9/9/2008

I love this place! I have lived and worked in Russia, and this is like a trip back to the old country. Russian food can be kind of oily and a little bland, but this is the real stuff. The GEM of Russian cuisine is, however, SOUP, and they have phenomenal borscht. For Russians, this is can be a home away from home, and for Americans, a great introduction to the simple pleasures of Russian cooking. This is also a great place to bring your out of town guests because it is just so darn unique. Your Midwestern friends have never seen anything like it! more

Not only this place looks amassing it is also has the best home made Russian foods in the Valley. They have a wide variety of cold cuts from around the globe, and the most delicious salads made fresh. Look for the Entree , they are delightful. Pros: Thumbs up more

Best Restaurant in Town 9/9/2008

My wife and I recently had our wedding there and the place and the food was exceptional. We where very happy with the staff and how quickly they got things done within seconds. I searched and searched for a restaurant that is unique and different and Romanov stood out and I couldnt believe such a restaurant exiested. Pros: Excellent Place Cons: No cons more

Romance to the max 6/21/2007

My fiancee and I were looking for a place to celebrate the anniversary of our first date. Since we met while backpacking in Russia, it was a bit of a challenge finding a place that would be the ideal setting. Thank goodness for Romanov. We were pleasantly surprised that it felt just like being back in Moscow. The chandelier is out of this world. You'd swear you'd just stepped into a Russian Czar's palace. The food was authentic, but with a modern twist. The romantic ambience was enhanced by this exceptional pianist. Only one comical complaint, the busser ran into the server and knocked the wine glass off, and it splashed onto my fiancee's pants. more

WHAT A JOKE?SERIOUSLY TERRIBLE IN EVERY ASPECT! 6/17/2007

Being a Studio City resident I was incredibly excited when I heard that Romanov was coming to the Valley, however after my experience last night I will NEVER go back. First our drink orders were not put in, water not refilled and when we received our Vodka Trio?s the server had NO clue what he was talking about. When we asked what the different Vodka?s were he said? ?I don?t really know, they are all Russian.? Are you serious? I had to ask the manager to send the bar manager over in order to tell us what we were drinking. The caviar was fine but the chef has nothing to do with that ? the rest of the appetizers were marginal. When ordering our entree?s we asked our server for a suggestion and he said, ?Well I?m a vegan so I don?t really know.? It took forever to get our entrees because our server literally forgot about us and when they did arrive they were ice cold. This was the first time in my life that I have actually sent an entree back and not just mine ? my father sent his back as well as his was ice cold too. My sister likened the stroganoff to chili fries and the sides were also freezing by the time our entrees came out for the second time which was at least 20 minutes later. In the end the offer of complementary after dinner drink was just too little too late and we just wanted to leave. The best part of the meal was by far seeing our car pull up. Really this place is just a pretty room and nothing more?don?t waste your time or money. Pros: Pretty lamps Cons: Everything else more

Great experience - food and ambiance 6/16/2007

The restaurant is absolutely breathtaking. It's like you're not in L.A. The food was delicious from start to finish. We especially enjoyed the beef stroganoff and the pork chop. The baked alaska for dessert was the best. And you mush have the Russian tea service to end your meal. To get away from the standard, boring L.A. dining scene, this place is a must. more

Great Decor, Food needs a major improvement 5/25/2007

Inside it looks amazing, very grand and great design. Wish the same could be said about the food. The menu is nothing exciting and we didnt hear any specials announced, which we found odd. Some of the more russian dishes are not athentic at all. We ordered a few appitzers before the main meal, apettizers were ok, the foie gras was amazing probably the best thing on the menu!!! sad but true. Pros: Ambience, interior Cons: food could be alot better!! more

bad food, poor customer service, worse than republic 5/23/2007

The space is very nice but the food was bad and the service was bad. The food took very long when it finally arrived it arrived while we had barely received our appetizers which also took forever, the food was overcooked and had no flavor. Very expensive and was not worse a penny of it. The drinks were expensive and not very good, i ordered a drink and the server came back and told me they didn't have it when I told him the ingredients he then said ""oh I guess we to have that"" he then came back with it and was made completely wrong. I do not recommend this place place at all unless you want to waste three hours of your time an about $200.00 for bad food and drinks Pros: Space is nice Cons: bad food, bad service, expensive more

Awesome experience 3/21/2007

Romanov hasn't really ""opened"" yet but you can go get dinner there. It is really pretty awesome. Service was great, food was spectacular-- best prime rib I've ever had. The room is unbelievable. It's a space that would be pretty amazing and high-production-value for Hollywood. That it exists in Studio City is quite special. I live down the street so I'm a bit biased. Overall I really recommend it. Oh, the bar is cool too and drinks were awesome. Pros: Food, drinks, room, service Cons: It's on the pricey end, but not any more so than other nice restaurants out there (and better than most of those) more
