If you're looking for a cheap mud bath, you'll find it here. It looks too much like an outdated motel to feel like a "resort", though the spa interio more

Roman Spa Review 8/27/2010

The Roman Spa is the only place my husband and I stay when we visit Napa County. It's not fancy or luxurious, but it's comfortable, is reasonably priced, and we love the hot springs pools! We also like the Baths, where we always get massages. The location is great; an easy walk to downtown Calistoga, and access to the wineries along the Silverado Trail, as well as the ones in St. Helena (V. Sattui is our favorite). If you want a fancy, luxurious experience, don't go there; if you want reasonable prices, comfort and relaxation, it's the place to go. We enjoy sitting in the chaise lounges by the pools or in one of the patio areas to enjoy wine and cheese before heading out for dinner, and after breakfast the next morning before heading out for some wine tasting and shopping. We take a "dip" in the pools at least twice a day when we're there, and wouldn't think of staying anywhere else! more

Good value 2/25/2010

This is an affordable location in the valley with an affordable mud bath experience. If you are looking for a luxurious spa or resort this spot is not for you. Located just off the main drag in town when you pull up you'll see that this in not the glamorous spot of some of the resorts in town. They have a great staff and offer well priced ammenities for those of us unable to afford a $400 spa treatment. more

If this is a ""Resort"" then I'm the Easter Bunny and Santa lives down the block... 5/12/2008

I wasn't aware that one can so easily paste the words ""resort"" and ""spa"" on random shacks...The Roman Spa Hot Springs and Resort is an ill-played farce- to put it nicely. I made reservations for 2 nights for Mother's Day weekend after seeing this ""resort's"" webpage and all of the glowing reviews on said page. I asked for accomodations big enough for 3 people; myself, my husband, and my mother in-law. I was promised a room with 2 queens and a full kitchen. What we got was 1 small queen bed and a LOVELY twin size bed! Our full kitchen was pathetically tiny and outdated. Not to mention, there weren't any real coffee cups, but I guess the staff at this ""resort"" don't expect anyone to drink coffee anyhow because there wasn't any in our ""suite"". As for the daily maid service, I suppose you can't expect too great of service at a ""luxury resort"" right? Their kind service apparently didn't include new towels after 1 day, or new shampoo (which was so cheap I wouldn't even use it on my pets), we didn't even get our cups washed or replaced, just left in the sink. But on the bright side, our queen and twin beds were made when we returned to our ""resort"". This MOTEL boasts of warm hospitality on their website but should rephrase this to read ""our MOTEL hasn't had any upgrades since the 70's, our staff doesn't even know how to spell the words customer service, our ""enchanting garden"" are potted flowers from the dollar store, our ice machine is on the fritz indefinitely, our thin walls make for a cozy experience with your neighbor, but hey- at least we only charge $225.00 a night! Enjoy your stay and don't mind the manager's building out back with the wood scraps dangling off the balcony! \r Needless to say, I will NEVER return to this tourist trap again and I hope that by reading this I'm saving your wallet too! Forget staying in Calistoga- come here for dinner at Brannan's (INCREDIBLE FOOD) but sleep and spa in Sonoma!! Make yourself and your mother in-law happy, trust me... Pros: At least we didn't see any five, six, eight legged creatures! Cons: The management/ front desk clerks are extremely rude! They know that they're ripping people off and just don't care! more
