From 2003 I am coloring my hair, and although there are no similar statistics for products used in hair salons, and if it is true that the vast majority of women are hiding their gray as myself, most of the popular brands does not last long covering it and in a few days the gray color shows because the color wash out! As many of my friends I also even tried to do it myself buying the hair-coloring product from the drugstore. \r After all that dependency I was ready to give up until I meet the legendary genius Rodolfo Valentin. \r \r He explained to me that the major difference is that a professional colorist can custom blend a specific color and control the amount of peroxide used. With this conscious blending, the color will last longer. The only unavoidable problem is how much your hair grows, but the ?key? is to retouch only the roots and using only deposit colors.\r \r I never expect that I will have the time to make this report, but after so many years he gave me back my ?hair happiness?. Grateful to have found Rodolfo 6/16/2008

I was diagnosed with breast cancer one year ago. My biggest fear was losing my hair. I am red haired and had lots and lots of hair. I got a list of places to go, but how could I know who was the right person to do my wig? I went to a couple of places and had made up my mind until through word of mouth from my friends the last place I went to was Rodolfo Valentin?s salon. I met Rodolfo and immediately felt his reassurance, the mastery of his craft and his great sense of style. As he shared with me his mother?s battle with cancer, I felt tremendous sensitivity and empathy of what I was going through. I knew he was the person I was going to trust to make me look whole again. Rodolfo fitted me and made not only a beautiful wig, but one that was ME. People who lose their hair want to look like themselves and this was Rodolfo?s biggest achievement. I?ve gotten millions of compliments on my hair and now that I?m parting with my wig as my hair is growing back, there are so many people who are stunned to learn that what I was wearing for the past 8 months was a wig. I am indebted to Rodolfo and everyone who works with him for making this traumatic and emotional process not only tolerable but at times made me smile. His permanent smile and patience to please me in any way was and will always be something I will be eternally grateful for. more

Fabulous Hair at Rodolfo Valentin's Hair Salon 4/25/2008

Rodolfo Valentin has changed my life. As far as I know, Rodolfo is the creator of his own patented hair infusions. In my experience, this is the only hair addition that has not damaged my hair and there is no hair loss. This ?hair-infusion? technique has helped my hair to grow in much healthier and faster. Rodolfo is also the master in hair color and after several months my hair is no longer damaged by over-processing. more

The Best in New York for sure!!!! 12/26/2007

I had the most fantastic experience!!!! I went into Rudolfo's salon and the maestro immediately reacted to the poor state of my hair which was severely over processed. He was very sympathetic and reassuring and said that he could help me correct the problem. The following day I had infusions done and I looked and felt like a new and different person. The infusions are matched to the original colour of the hair so they are not noticeable but instead provide a lush, thick head of healthy hair. That day I was transformed from a haggard person with thinning over processed hair to a much younger person with a head of thick hair and a style that was youthful and very flattering. I could have kissed his feet and even offered to do so at the time. I don't think I would ever be without my hair infusions and I am eternally greatful. Even if I had to live on the other side of the world I would visit the salon of Rudolfo Valentin to have my infusions maintained. He has changed my life; thank you so much!!!!! Loved the haircut! 3/7/2007

My girlfriend finally brought me to Rodolfo Valentin Salon. I was begging her to bring me, but looks like she didn't want to take responsibilities. She knows I am difficult with my hair and she was concern I would blame her if I don't like it. Also I didn't wanted to walk in by myself! ( I wanted Rodolfo give me special attention)...lately I realized that he is such a great person that it would be okay if I did. They take care of every single customer equally in opposite to other salons or hairstylists.\r How I will rate my haircut?, 10 points!, probably the best I've ever had. I don't think I am going back to my former haircutter. Rodolfo has just something different about the whole concept, and he really delivers a good professional cut. The salon is nice, the staff is friendly, they even offered me wine while I waited, I would definitely recommend it! Best New York salon by Rodolfo Valentin 3/2/2007

I had heard of the hair designer Rodolfo Valentin for years, but never imagined such a wonderful salon experience with old world furniture and floor tiles. At this magnificent salon (other exist in the south shore of Long Island) there are junior stylists and colorists, as well as senior, designer, and high skilled stylists and colorists. Rodolfo Valentin is from Argentina, and you can read about him and his salons on his website. The NY salon, on the upper east in Madison Avenue, is an oasis of privacy and comfort. I also enjoyed my visit to his gorgeous Salon and Spa in Long Island where one floor is reserved for hair stylists and colorists, while in the upper floor is located one of the most beautiful spas for treatments, such as seaweed wraps and a multitude of massages, and manicures/pedicures, etc. \r I chose a junior stylist, named Sasha, and a senior colorist, named Maritza. Sasha and Maritza spent a total of over four hours catering to my hair! Sasha literally cut and styled my hair two times -- before the colorist and after. And, Judith, the colorist's assistant, was extremely attentive, even bringing me gourmet coffee as my snack of choice. In fact, all of the staff at Rodolfo Valentin work as a team and are most hospitable and classy. \r Pros: great hair coloring, best staff,everything is top at Rodolfo Valentin salon more

Hairstylist Rodolfo Valentin, best of New York! 2/22/2007

Hair stylist Rodolfo Valentin is in my opinion the best hairdresser of New York. His salon located in the fashionable Madison Avenue is chic and an experience. The reception is helpful and gracious. The service is individual and everybody there makes sure you are happy whether you want a coffee, a glass of water or a snack. Rodolfo Valentin not only suggested, he also listened to what I wanted and he delivered! I also noticed that Rodolfo Valentin makes sure that every service is done up to his standards, and himself watches every client who walks in; he even came over to my hair stylist and discussed with him about my hair. I was desperate about losing my hair after the chemo treatments. \r The mother of my friend Lucy told me about her experience and that she too found it to be very shocking losing her hair, but in her suffering she was very lucky to meet Rodolfo Valentin, who she calls ?the angel?. He gave her back her sense of self-esteem lost during her agony of losing her attractive hair. I rushed to see Rodolfo, and he is really an artist, and his expressions of love and concern for people in our circumstances is rewarding. He is also one of the best hairdressers in New York City, and one of the best hair colorists (there was a lot of people having their hair color done)?He offered me a loaner until my custom made was done and after few weeks he delivered to me a beautiful hair prosthesis designed to perfection. When I came to pick up the hairpiece his salon was full of people, but he didn?t mind to make others wait, he told me that ?in this moment you are more important for me?? I asked to Rodolfo why he is so particularly gentle and caring with people in our situation, and his answer with tears in his eyes was ?because Sofia my mother, also was in your situation, and she was the most important person in my life!??I could not hold my tears either! Incredible attention to your hair and it's health 11/15/2006

Ask yourself one question...do you love your hair? If so, there's only one person who will treat as carefully and with as much respect as if it were his own! Rudolpho Valentin! Not only is he a true artist at his craft, he commands an amazing team of specialists who treat your hair like it's gold. I have never had SUCH attention paid to my hair and you will not walk away feeling neglected, ignored, unheard, or unhappy. This is truly a place where your hair is the star of the show and the center of attention. After other (high priced!!) city salons left my long brown hair a bleached and sun-in-orange frizzy mess. . I was scared to recolor! I looked in citysearch for direction and couldn't believe how many people wrote such unwavaringly high reviews about this salon...so I took a chance. You should too! The salon is beautiful, relaxing and unpretentious. Rudolpho is charming and charismatic and makes you feel instantly at home! He addressed the ""COLOR and CUTTING ABUSE! (his terms)"" that were inflicted upon my hair! After fixing the base color, Rudolpho wanted to put in a very conservative caramel/honey highlight but I pointed to his awesome dolce pants and said - I WANT THAT COLOR BURGANDY! So I now have beautiful fun burgundy highlights that look classy, not trashy. As I sat and processed, the other 2 clients in the salon (both gorgeous shades of blonde they say that ONLY Rudolpho was able to create!) began to chat with me and told me how Rudolpho had saved their hair and they would ONLY trust their hair to him! He had suggested putting in his exclusive extensions to help me deal with the choppiness of my layers from the ""cutting abuse"" but I felt I couldn't afford them at the moment - HOWEVER - if I could - I would have done it. It's a fantastic system and LOOKS amazing! I HIGHLY recommend this salon - Rudolpho and his staff made me feel so welcome and special, and my color is so much fun! I can't wait to go back! more

My mother has been going to Rodolfo Valentin since Rodolfo came to this country. It was my mother in fact, who took me there and Rodolfo's has been my current salon since then. I used to be a fanatic of Garren but Rodolfo Valentin is a hair color genius.\r Another great thing about Rodolfo Valentin Salon is that it's way user-friendlier;fabulous gracious and you don't need to be someone important to get treated fabulously. \r Rodolfo Valentin atmosphere is not a snobby, intimidating one. \r Rodolfo Valentin is the best salon in New York. I am addicted to Rodolfo Valentin Salon where I get the best for my hair, my hair color, my haircut, my style and my soul (the atmosphere at this salon is very relaxing). Few days ago I also visited their unbelievable Salon and Spa in Long island. It is something very rare to find a beauty center to get all imaginable kind of services in one place. Before I found this unsurpassed Salon I was required to go to different places to be one hundred percent happy, my hair color in one shop, my haircut in another, now at Rodolfos where every service is twelve points (from one to ten) I really cannot believe how lucky I am!. Because I am also and spa enthusiastic, I can have everything in one network.. It is impossible to describe the beauty of the premises without seeing them, there are not enough words to describe this palatial grounds, the high quality of every service they offer, the warm welcoming and far above the ground experienced staff. At the end of my spa experience, Rodolfo was also there ( he is there Saturdays only), and he cut and styled my hair and what I can say if every talents of Rodolfo Valentin have already been told! That evening in a dinner with friends that I didnt see from the last two months they thought I had a face-lift! Even my husband turn out very romantic that evening! Thank you Rodolfo & staff! Rodolfo added elegance and chic to my hair 9/15/2006

Before I left his georgeous salon Rodolfo told me: ""if you are happy with your hair, let other people know by writting a review in citysearch, and I am here writting one. to begin Rodolfo is the key men to use for hair coloring. As a path to success is to make sure that the color looks good on you and Rodolfo is the only one that will make sure it happens.. Matching your hair color is principal, as a mismatch will be obvious. Rodolfo took me within a few shades of my natural hair color; and he also told me that some difference is acceptable, as it can create a nice subtle yet dramatic look, but any more than a few shades and the hair wont look quite right. He also told me that he could dye my hair with an entirely new color, but hair coloring for an executive women works best when its subtle, not when its a dramatic hair color change. Rodolfo gave me the best haircolor I've ever had! 9/14/2006

I was really unhappy with my hair color until I meet Rodolfo Valentin. Ive been in every salon in New York City and I never got what I wanted. Rodolfo showed me that a good hair colorist can add spice and enhance my hairstyle and it is really enjoyable and pleasing when it comes out glittering. I agree completely with Rodolfo that a great hair color should look as natural as possible and it is a must that a good result should to include shine, drama and fun to your hair. Though most of the women color their hair to cover the gray hair, many others like my case are coloring the hair for the change of having a new look. Rodolfo has save myself tears and unwanted disastrous results as I was getting most of the time from other hair colorists.Rodolfo you are unique. Fascinated with Rodolfo golden hands! 7/7/2006

I haven't had my hair colored in years, because let's face it, it's scary trying to find a new colorist after growing out your hair from bad past color services! Also because coloring seems to really dry out my hair. It's been 10 weeks since my first visit to Rodolfo and his color and products are so moisturizing and nourishing - I swear not only will I never have my hair touched by anyone else but I will recommend this salon to my friends that truly worship their hair! Haircut extraordinaire is Rodolfo Valentins high merit. He really puts the scissors in the right spot leaving no room for mistakes, so there is no time spent fixing it afterwards. He gave me the best haircut I ever got just in minutes. As Rodolfo told me: I dont spent half a day giving a haircut, so I dont need to charge a fortune to give you a good oneand it is true that I paid a third of what I used to pay sitting for an hour and the results are double as good! I got cut, shampoo, conditioner, a delightful minutes of cranial massage and a wonderful finishing for the comfortable cost of 275.Not only that, I was advised that it is the first time cost, next time same package will cost me 225! Rodolfo Valentin - Best Salon & Hair Experts 6/19/2006

I found this salon by typing in ""Best Colorist"" ""New York"" on Google.com. After reading all the rave reviews, I now find myself writing one! I've been to Rodolfo's salon twice: once for highlights and the second time for a haircut. His team is so welcoming and fabulous. There is such a good vibe throughout the whole salon. Rodolfo is a master at his craft. He looked at my hair color and prescribed the perfect color palette. Michel got my highlights to blend in naturally and look radiant. Every snip from Rodolfo's scissors was like second nature. The wigs and hair extensions on display are amazing. I've never seen anything like them. Rodolfo explained his patented hair extensions to me and how they were designed to be undetectable. I saw another client with extensions that looked like her own! I've always wanted long hair so I'm tempted to try that next! If you want a glamorous and elegant look, this is the place to go. No trendy music and inexperienced stylists...
