Yes, I'd recommend... 9/25/2011

As a kid, my parents took me here, and the place was an absolute dump. However, I was in the Kennebunkport area last spring and, (surprisingly,) saw the campground was still running. I stopped in, and found the new owner working in the office. I told her about the place before she bought it, and she explained to me some of the improvements they were trying to make. My girlfriend and I decided to give it a go for ""old time's sake;"" (her family used to stay at a campground up the road, around the same time I stayed at Riverside... Small world...) In all honesty, we found the place very enjoyable. While the sites were smaller than some in the area, what else is to be expected from a campground running at half their rates? The small bathroom near our site was the same one from when I was a kid; apparently, the town won't let the new owner tear down the building or put up a new one, due to zoning- (her words, not mine.) The people staying here were friendly, the store had some random items, but supplied everything we needed but obviously forgot: batteries, bug spray, soda and ice, saving us a trip to the convenience store. The pool looked like it had been redone recently, and was very clean, along with the office and new showers. When I last visited, an old trailer was there. Now, however, there are five or six showers, and very modern bathrooms. Everytime I went to the bathroom, they were being, or had just been, cleaned. Very few complaints here. My girlfriend and I have already decided we'd be back, if not just to see what kinds of improvements have been made. Highly recommended. more

Terrible Campground! 8/10/2011

This place is awful! I completely agree with everything juju said. The ""river"" in Riverside is actually a mud hole. Our sites werent big enough to fit an average sized tent and the management was very rude. We were treated horribly by not only the owners but also the seasonal residents. I have been camping for 35 years and have never stayed at a place this bad. more

Don't stay at Riverside! 8/1/2011

Riverside is a dump! Our experience was not a good one. We were so excited to get to Maine and when we did we were welcomed with rude owners and a terribly campground. The camp sites are extremely small and not well maintained. The showers are ditry, the pool is way too small to accomodate that many camp sites. We were nickled and dimed to death with pay showers, pay internet and costly fire wood. We felt like we were in a tent city! It was over crowded and completley misrepresented. Maine is a beautiful place with wonderful locals but our camping experience was anything but pleasant. I really don't think the owners are from Maine. They were rude, grossly unprofessional and unaccomodating. I wouldn't recommend this camp ground to anyone. We drove over 12 hours to get to the ""projects"" of Maine.\r \r I would never stay there again. Save yourself from this horrible place and camp anywhere but here. more
