Adorable restaurant! 2/9/2009

I first went to this restaurant w/ my boyfriend about a year ago (I have been about 10x since then). It was fantastic! The owner ran up to me and gave me a big hug. What a warm welcome! The restaurant is very small which lends itself to great conversation. The walls are detailed w/ old-world Italian art. You truly feel like you are on a mini vacation in Europe. The food is prepared quickly so it is always hot and fresh. My favorite dish is the tube pasta w/ sausage. A glass of Chianti is the perfect match to this delicious meal. Great date spot and a great place to catch up with an old friend! Pros: Ambience, staff, location Cons: Don't sit by the window...a bit cold more

Very Tasty and Delicious 4/6/2008

I return to Parma whenever I am in SF which has been 3 times in the last 2 weeks. The food is wonderful, service is good and the people are pleasant. The atmosphere is very Italian and takes me back to my travels in Italy. Pros: great food and service Cons: small restaurant, fills up quickly more

Best Italian I've ever had ANYWHERE!! 3/20/2008

My friend and I visited San Fran over our spring break and we were strolling down Chestnut looking at various menus posted outside of restaurants. Some guy stopped us and told us that if we wanted to eat Italian, the best Italian restaurant he's ever been to was a few blocks over. We went to go check it out and I'm so glad we did! I definitely wouldn't have spotted it on my own b/c it was kinda on a side street. The food was so great and the restaurant itself was so inviting! Pros: Great tasting, high quality Italian grubbage. Cons: I had to ask the waitress a few times to refill my glass, but that's no biggie. more

A good italian restaurant with good service. Make reservations. 2/4/2007

My wife and I have been going to Parma for years, in fact every time we visit the City. The food is great and so is the service. Parma is small so it's recommended to make reservations. I believe that the service is so good because of the small size of the restaurant. The food portions are much larger than some of the restaurants in the North Beach area, so be prepared. The wine selection is good and fits the food. Pros: Good food and service Cons: Small and may need reservations more

Good all around for Italian in the Marina 12/22/2006

Overall, we had a very nice meal at Parma. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming. The food was not spectacular, but very good. We'll be back since it's just a couple blocks away from where we live - but I wouldn't necessarily include it on my list of favorite SF restaurants. The antipasto misto is a nice way to sample a number of different things. It's listed as ""for one"", but you can ask them to make it for two or whatever your party is. We also shared the Penne Romanoff which sounded amazing but was only so-so and the Veal Piccata which was very, very lemony and good. Finally, we had the tiramisu which is normally not my favorite thing, but I had to admit it was very good. Like I said, overall it was a pleasant experience, so if you live in the area, I recommend it. But if not, I'm sure you have an equally good or better Italian restaurant in your neighborhood. Pros: Very nice atmosphere, good service Cons: Food is solid, but average more

Good, but hoped for better 11/24/2006

We wanted a Marina restaurant that was casual and a good value and based on the strength of the reviews in Citysearch we chose Parma. The room is nice and the menu terrific, but both my salad and pasta dish fell a little flat. It was good, but not great, and to be fair my companions enjoyed the meal. I was very happy with the value however, and plan on giving the place another shot in case I or the restaurant was having an off night. Pros: Nice room, great value more

Garlic Lovers Haven - Paired with Deilicious Home Cooked Italian Dishes 9/21/2006

Parma is one of THE BEST Italian restaurants in the city. The restaurant is small & quaint & you may have to wait for your table but trust me...the food is well worth the wait. Upon ordering you are served the most potently delicious garlic-oil & vinengar more

Delicious Food in a Great Atmosphere 6/30/2006

The food here is really superb. It feels like Italy and everything is wonderful. I have been here many time over the last 7 years and I love it every time. The garlic, olive oil and vinegar dip for the bread is great but make sure your date has it too. The house chianti is great and all of the food is delicious. more

Great Italian! 10/10/2004

With so many restaurants in the Marina, and Steiner St. specifically, somehow I'm always leaning toward Parma! Great, cozy spot with tremendous Italian food....the lasagna is without match, and everything else is just as good. Service is great and Pietro, the owner, always stops by to say hello. Enjoy with friends, families and dates! more

The Best in SF! 6/15/2004

Parma is by far the best Italian food value in the city! Always great food, always great/cozy atmosphere, always a good time! Pros: Great Value, Authentic Italian more

Affordable & Yummy 10/28/2002

Few things have changed here, friendly owner, awesome pasta, and reasonable prices. Been going to this place for 9 years now. It's one of my all time favorite restaurants in the city. I've turned on at least 20 regulars to this place over the years. Wild Mushroom Fettucine and Penne Romanoff are THE BEST in the city. It's consistently good and still a great value! Pros: Affordable, Addictive bread, Penne Romanoff! more

Authentic Italian 8/6/2002

Parma is a must - great authentic Italian food for a reasonable price. Pietro (the owner) is a character and knows his stuff - he has had this restaurant for over 20 years!! This is a local favlorite and one that shouldn't be missed. Pros: food is awesome, portions are large, reasonably priced Cons: parking is difficult more
