My girlfriend and I were here for Valentines day dinner expecting a pleasant meal in a comfortable environment - we got quite the opposite! It was an unfriendly, unsatisfying visit which left me feeling sick to my stomach.\r \r We began our dinner with our 'soups' and appetizer and immediately had a bad feeling. What they are selling as soup is unflavoured water with some lentil puree and cilantro - no amount of salt could make it taste good! Next, our entree came out and ended up being not as we expected. We received a frozen vegetable medley with cabbage and cauliflower as a meal, which also was not flavoured and was missing key ingredients to make it the dish it was supposed to be. \r \r When our server came over to ask how we were, we told them that we had come here many times in the past and not had a bad experience until tonight in hope that he would be able to remedy the situation for us. We had asked to speak to the owner who told us that he will not refund or replace our dish because he would have to, god forbid, please his customers and make a replacement dish -he said we basically had to suck it. After talking with us and leaving us unsatisfied, he printed our check and had our waiter bring it to us and waited for us to pay. \r \r Of all the few times that I have had a problem at a restaurant, this was the first time that, even after talking to a manager or owner, I was not even slightly satisfied or felt good when I was leaving. I left Taj feeling ill and wanting to vomit.\r \r I will not return here ever again. more

I've been tricked into coming here more than once, the owner both times was arguing with an upset customer that stormed out or on the phone arguing with people on the phone. I'm from new york, and I really wanted this to be good indian food - but it is just clearly the cheapest food that they can get their hands on, and resell to the public at abnormal prices for indian food at this quality. The owner is rude, the food is hit or miss. The ingredients and meat are the lowest quality possible. I've tried it, and tried it again. This time I felt sick after I ate. Definitely will be avoiding this place at all costs in the future. more

"We can't take back your food because you don't like it, because people don't like their food all the time, and if we take back your dish we have to do it for everyone else" - A Quote from the owner of the Taj restaurant. What? I've been coming here for years - a few times I have been there, there has been a customer arguing about their order with a waiter or the owner, and I always thought they were crazy. Tonight we went to taj for the worst meal of our lives, a dish we have had here and many other restaurants was served to us completely modified and flavorless, the soup we ordered was lentil water with 0 flavor. The Dish we ordered apparently was a bowl of cabbage with curry on it - except it was supposed be an entree. The owner of this restaurant basically told us that because we only ordered 2 soups, and appetizer, chutney, and 1 entree that we could go screw ourselves. That our view that a dish that was normally 1.) A different color 2.) Comprised of different ingredients could be modified and served to us however he feels like it - and it was disgusting. When we told him about our food being way off from the beginning, he gave us the speech above. We told him it isn't normal for people to dislike their food frequently and want to send it back, and he was a total jerk. We told him we would never go back - $14 for a small bowl of cabbage with 5 kernals of corn, and 5 peas. and 4 slices of cauliflower. I think this guy is crazy and cheap - he's always counting his money for the entire time we are seated - and now I understand why so many other people have left in anger. Guess we got luck up till now - I strongly recommend Punjab over this place if you aren't willing to drive up to FLL or WPB for much better indian food. or test your luck at this craphole. more

My first experience with Taj Restaurant about a year and a half ago wasn't nearly as good as I had hoped. I enjoyed the taste of the butter chicken and rice in the buffet up until my basket of naan was brought out. Much to my surprise, I grabbed a piece of naan and saw a cockroach quickly scurry from under that very slice I had just picked up, to underneath an adjacent slice of naan. I immediately informed the owner, an Indian gentleman with glasses, and he picked up the basket and he too saw the cockroach. Apologizing profusely and explaining that they had just done some remodeling in the kitchen, and promptly comped my meal. After a brief rest and some water to stop my gag reflex, I finished my meal and informed him that I would be back to give the place a second chance. Today I wish I hadn't.\r \r I had a craving earlier today for Indian food, something quick and relatively inexpensive. Reluctantly I chose Taj Restaurant again deciding to give them the benefit of the doubt. I arrived at around 2pm, with a good hour before the buffet would finish and the place was nearly devoid of patrons. The food was delicious so I began to wonder why there were a lack of customers. I soon discovered the reason was that the service was horrible. To begin with, I was also informed rather rudely that additional baskets of naan would be $2.95 upon asking for a refill which wasn't a big deal. Any other Indian buffet that I have been to never charges for naan, since it is naturally part of the buffet. Next, I had the awkward African waiter pass me not once but twice without refilling my water which was noticably empty to quench the thirst brought about by the curry chicken. I even went so far as to suck the ice cubes through the straw to give some sort of indication to my drink needing a refill. After several attempts coming up empty (pun intended), I approached the waiter standing at the bar after getting a new plate of butter chicken. He fully filled up the glasses of several middle-aged women sitting at a table adjacent to mine, but only had enough water in the pitcher to fill my glass halfway. I thanked him and thought he would return to completely fill my glass however I was wrong. Once that glass was finished, again I went through the ritual of trying to draw their attention to me. Once again it didn't work and was forced to approach the waiter standing idly by the bar. I took a break in eating and the African waiter attempted to take my plate without even asking me if I was done, I stopped him and asked him if I could finish if he didn't mind. He apologized which was fine. Afterwards, I decided to grab some dessert as it got closer to 3pm before they took it away. Once again the African waiter attempted to take my plate which still had a significant amount of food on it. I ran back and once again had stopped him from doing so.\r \r After returning to eating, there were a couple sitting at an adjacent table who had summoned the owner. One of the two had made a suggestion to the owner that as a restaurant worker himself, they should not rush the patrons in order to clean for the dinner crowd. I am not sure if he noticed the waiter trying to take my food right from under my nose or if the same thing happened to him. Regardless, another couple came in to enjoy the buffett but were a little rudely told that there was not enough time to eat, so the wife decided to get it for take out while the husband argued with the owner and the owner arguing back to the customer. I'd like to think that it was because they were close to the end of the buffet and not because the woman was black and the man was white but after seeing how they were spoken to, I'm not sure. At any rate I left without leaving a tip for the abyssmal service and was followed out by the owner to inquire as to why I forgot to leave a tip. I began to explain to him that I found the service to be horrible with the amount of time I had to wait for refills and before I could continue he abruptly cut me off. He said that if I do not respect his wait staff then I should not come back. I responded by saying that if he does not respect me as a valued customer, then that won't be a problem. I suppose that culturally speaking a tip in India is obligatory and not at all a reflection of service, but I digress.\r \r So if you want to eat good Indian food and enjoy being ignored by rude waiters and rushed through your meal then Taj Restaurant may be just for you! more

The food... so delicious! I was so happy! Under the vegetarian menu, I ordered the eggplant curry and it was so flavorful and spicy with the rice. I also got to try the non bread with some of the curry too. I can't complain about the food everything was authentic and delicious. The service was wonderful; they were so hospitable. I'm definitely coming back! more

I went to this place because they are listed in your top ten for Deerfield Beach and I'm glad I did. Althought the place had a total of three tables full including mine, the flavors were amazing. I highly recommend the Butter Chicken. If you like Indian food you will love this place. more

The place has a great lunch buffet. It is more expensive than other Indian restaurants but they use better meats - for example, butter chicken had white meat only. more
