i was very sore from stress at work and working out so much! i decided i needed a massage and was really willing to go just about anywhere as long as it was close to my office (it was slow so i snuck out for a bit). i found renew & relax spa after about 10 mins on google, and boy am i glad it did!
At first glance it seems like just another nail salon, but when you walk to the back they have a whole bunch of rooms & a locker room with additional rooms downstairs. the decor was very simple and relaxing, they had nice music playing.
I opted for the massage/facial combo. Only $99!!!! (well $103. with tax) Steve was my masseuse he was great! He warmed up my muscles over the blanket first and then used oils directly on my skin!
He seemed to concentrate on my back and neck, didn't spend too much time anywhere else im not sure if this is because that's what they do or if he realized how tight i was in those areas., either way im not complaining...that's what i needed!
Then off to another room to have my facial done by Donna! The scents in the cremes were so unique and wonderful i was told they are made in Korea. there was one that i especially loved, i couldnt put my finger on the scent right away but a few hours later i realized it smelled just like my favorite Tea, mango Ceylon! Donna Left me for a few minutes with fresh cucumber over my eyes and a thick clay mask over that.
my only complaint was that it was a bit chilly in the basement rooms, but then again, i'm ALWAYS cold so maybe it was just me.
Either way, they were very nice and didn't try to get you to buy things you didn't really want or sneak in added costs like a lot of places do when they ask if you want lavander oil in your massage lotion and then charge you an extra $30 or something. Nope, this place was friendly, honest, and just an all around great experience. And you can't beat the price, especially for Manhattan!
Highly Recommend!
Pros: Walk-ins welcome, friendly staff, very reasonable prices
Cons: A little chilly in the basement rooms? (could be just me)
