Scam! 3/10/2022

My original complaint from 3/08/2021: I invested $200K in 5 Reliant Life Shares 5 years ago and now I am paying anywhere from 10 to 20 annually to maintain my investment. Since I only receive a fixed $53,200 payout on each $40,000 share I figure I have paid out almost $10,000 for each share so far. And I just received a bill for $7550 for another year of maintenance! There are several online complaints and many state that they can't get their money back as well as being ignored by the company. Update on 3/09/2022: Maintenance fees paid: $2159.07 on 01 April 2020. $3765.35 on 31 Dec 2020. $3571.99 on 01 May 2020. $3918.59 on 10 May 2020. $4198.74 on 06 Jan 2021. $7600.00 on 29 May 2021. $2182.15 on 24 Jun 2021. $4982.51 on 24 Jul 2021. $4510.89 on 20 Jan 2022. $3690.31 on 23 Jan 2021. $3816.63 on 15 Feb 2022. Total paid to date: $44,396.23. This is a scam. They won't return my original investment of $200K. STAY AWAY FROM THIS MONEY PIT!!! more

Reliant and its agents request removal of this review that is libelous per se under California law, in clear violation of Judy’s Book terms of use prohibiting statements that “are libelous or factually inaccurate”, specifically the libelous term “SCAM” which directly implies criminality and has a natural tendency to injure Reliant in its occupation, in violation of California Civil Code §45. All investors know insurance policies require premium payments, demonstrating the libelous nature of the statement. All that you have stated was fully disclosed in writing to you and you signed repeatedly that you understood the basic concept that life insurance requires premium payments. As you know, Reliant works with some of the largest and most sophisticated financial institutions and insurance carriers in the nation. We will be in further contact with you to discuss this matter in an effort to resolve it and reserve our rights to bring legal action if required.

Worst investment 11/10/2021

Reliant sold me lifeshares about 5 years ago promising 10 to 12 percent returns or higher. now I am paying them thousands of dollars per year for fees and premiums. When I complained, they said they had a buyer for my contracts but I got nothing. They said the average contract was 5 years, but can't be true because all mine are still intact. They make a ton of money in fees, charging over 3 percent per year.If this sounds good to you, you should buy. more

Reliant is not paid 3 percent, or any percentage, of the premiums and trustee fees that are required to maintain the policies, all of which is disclosed in writing and signed off by every investor as full understood. Reliant is paid a fee at the outset only, and you were never informed that Reliant is paid 3 percent by anyone as that is not the business model and never has been. We therefor request removal of this review because it is misleading and erroneous. All investors know insurance policies require premium payments. As you know, Reliant works with some of the largest and most sophisticated financial institutions and insurance carriers in the nation. We will be in further contact with you to discuss this matter in an effort to resolve it and further discuss a transfer of your positions. Historically, Reliant investors have enjoyed double digit returns approaching 16%. The fact that your policies have not yet matured does not mean you will not obtain a competitive return, and your funds have been insulated from current market volatility.

Looking like a con job 9/23/2021

I invested in this also on the advice of my Financial Advisor,, It was suppose to mature in 31/2 years in May of 2021 well that came and went and the next thing I receive in the mail is that if I want my policy to stay currant then I need so send them 1500.00 more and this will happen every year until the insured passes away, I thought well that's not good but I didn't want to loose my investment so I complied sent the money never heard anything back until 08/05/2021 I get a letter stating that they have a new policy servicing company which is going to make things better this company was Montage Financial Group and they would be getting in touch with me haven't heard a word from either, You call and you never can talk to a real person, You leave detailed Messages and they never call you back, So I called my Advisor this morning and he tells me not to send them any more money so yes I think I was scammed will be talking to my Lawyer and will go from there. more

Good Investment? 9/17/2021

After 5 years all I do is pay them 8 to 10 percent return. 3 percent goes to them for fees of some sort and 6-7 percent goes to premiums. At this rate I will lose money. They said they would buy back the contracts but did not. more

Safe and Predictable 8/6/2021

I am So happy my lawyer introduced me to this asset! I was looking for a way to time release my estate, without having to pay an outside party to do so. Fractional Life Settlements, with the staggered payouts meets my need. Plus I get to enjoy the payouts when they come, until something happens to me, they go to my family. What a blessing. I wish I would have started with these policies instead of rolling the dice with investment properties. more

The radio ad was not kidding 8/4/2021

To Whom it may concern, The agents representing Reliant Have always been knowledgeable, respectful and helpful. I called the radio ad, curious about the 10%+ promise, in March of 2015 and have been overall happy with the investment, the returns, and the service. The only thing I would change is maybe having online access to see the new policies as they come in, so I could get into policies quicker, I missed out on a couple of good ones that sold out before I could invest. Thank you for your help in my retirement. more

my dad is my hero...and Reliant 8/3/2021

When I got my new job, my dad told me to roll over my old 401k to a different manager. I was at the gym and was asking this older guy, if he knew anything about that, and he told me what this company was doing. I am certainly no expert, but when my dad and I saw his presentation, it made sense to both of us. I was not surprised to get my first payout, but kind of relieved I guess, because I had never heard of this before. 3 payouts later, and I am on pace to retire by the time I'm 60 years old (I hope). I miss going on trips with my friends, but I will go on better vacations later. I am glad I was able to start something safe while I'm young. more

the radio ad makes a promise and keeps a promise 8/2/2021

To All Investors Considering Fractional Life Settlements: Don't wait to diversify until after the markets start fluctuating, spread the risk now, while things are up and policies are still performing at 13+%. I am still working because I've tried retirement, it is boring when you're only 62. The main reason I had the ability to try retirement was due to this specific asset class, and the knowable returns. I learned about this small niche from an investor group I participate in, back in 2014. What attracted me to this sector was the lack of unknowns, and the lack of multiple moving parts. The obvious is this: the more moving parts, the easier it is to get separated from your profit, and even your principle. This has 1 moving part. When it stops moving, you get paid. It stops moving 100% of the time. I was just on vacation with a family from my church, describing the process, my experience with the company, and the company itself, when I was told to read the reviews (I had not looked at them since 2014). The reviews in no way reflect my experience, nor many of my fellow investors in my group, my fellow investors that work for me, nor my fellow investors that I have met through the years at the offices. Last year was an anomaly with the communication lapses, but even when I couldn't get a call back, I still got my payouts from the escrow bank. My remaining stock broker was not getting back to me either by the way. High regards for my team at reliant. more

I was glad I saved my retirement account from the hiccups 7/31/2021

Hi, I don't normally write reviews unless the service was horrendous (don't get me started about my former nail salon). In this case, I got another payout and wanted my sister to roll her old 401k into this. She mentioned the low BBB score and asked me what my experience had been, and why I am pushing for her to do this. I am compelled to say; whoever is complaining, probably did not have one of the full time agents sharing the information with them. My agent spoke about the risk, even emphasised the one and only risk: "sometimes the scientists at the actuary companies are wrong, and I may have to cut into some of my profit to keep the principle and the bulk of the remaining profit intact". Fine by me, quite a difference from my principle dropping overnight like it did in 2009, and taking 4 years to bounce back to the original amount. This is more of a set it and forget it investment, instead of a hands on headache, or "what am I going to do now" investment. I love it! and everyone should think about putting the bulk of their retirement into something safe like this, the problem is...there is nothing predictable like this. Thank you Reliant Life Shares!!!! more

Promises Kept 7/29/2021

I am 77 years old. I made a lot of profit in a similar strategy to this years ago in the mid 80's, and then the treatments got better and Aids was no longer a Death sentence. Luckily I diversified out of this before then, and exited with all my capital and profit. I bought Real Estate, and some stock funds. Then 2007 and 2009 happened to me. I was introduced to this in 2012 after hearing a local radio ad, and remembered my mid 1980's investment and was wondering what they did to guard against the advancements in treatments and medications. When it was revealed, I seriously could not write my check fast enough. At my age now, I still invest in this for the same reasons Buffet does= this is predictable. I have been carefully watching the markets swing over a lifetime, and that hasn't happened here. last year the follow-up and call backs were hit and miss with Reliant, and all my doctor's, and my plumber, and my loan officer, and my vendors at my own business. While it was frustrating, I do understand. Luckily they (most of the world) have worked out those hiccups, and the communication is back on track. Last year, getting paid out on 3 policies was not exactly what i was hoping for, but 2 were expected payouts. The 3rd payout was very early. Yes, sometimes there is a call for more capital, like in my rental properties, but I knew that going in. This recent payout not only changed my life, but came at the right time after being shut down for a year. My agent, and his processing team are angels. more

SACM FOR SURE!!! 3/9/2021

These guys will have you believe that you will receive a 12% to 14% ROI but you'll end up having to add money year after year to maintain the policy and the insured never seems to die! This is a scam that is sold by people that only want to get your money. Their side has zero risk while your side is all risk and no return. It's a for sure scam. more

Be very careful about investing with Reliant Life Shares 1/9/2021

I purchased 2 $15,000 policies in 2016. I was told at the time by Larry Tubler, the agent in charge, that I could cash these policies in at any time without penalty. I tried to do this later that year because of an emergency only to find out the information from Mr. Tupler was not correct. I have paid 5 premiums and will soon go into the loss column with these investments. I have not recieved a annual report from Reliant in over 9 months. Please contact the Business Consumer Alliance with any complaints....very important to do! If enough of us file a complaint, the more likely something good will come out of this. more

Reliant sends out statements with full updates and implements improvements whenever possible. Reliant also works with trustees and sophisticated financial institutions. We will be in contact again to address any remaining concerns you may have.

Not an investment, misleading. Possible scam. 5/29/2020

You will hear the siren song of great returns and safety of principal. You will be told by the agent that these practically never go past their prepaid premiums, but you will find otherwise. Note there tend to be great reviews and terrible ones. Why might that be other than an initial manipulation followed by true experiences coming later? I have yet to see a "maturity" in 10 purchased positions but I am out thousands every year in premium calls and fees. Other reviewers on this and other sites including lately BBB are saying the same thing, despite a few older glowing reviews that I was sucked in by. This is only possible if the agent was not telling the truth. As of now, I have no real evidence there even are any "insureds", not having seen a payout, not knowing anyone who has, and getting only thousands in fees and premium demands. The last one was received today (the 28th) having been mailed by Reliant on the 20th. I was advised that my position on one of 10 will be forfeit if a payment of nearly $1000 on a $10,000 position with a return of $4000 (half of which is already eaten by premium calls) is not somehow received on the 31st...a SUNDAY. This is shaping up to be far less an investment than a con job. more

This is a review of Judy's book. Your reviews are skewed and misleading as one person reviewed Relient Life Shares multiple times. This is an unreliable site but this probably won't go anywhere more

Yes, Judy's List says it has terms of use that prohibit libelous statements such as the ones that are posted by the same person, and we are working to address removal as it harms our business and the agents who work hard every day. Reliant is proud of the products it offers, and the investors do well and are insulated form market volatility.

Extreme Caution Advised 3/6/2019

I bought parts of two contracts, one “due” in Nov 2018, the second “expected” in May of this year. I’m expecting both of these to go way, way beyond their estimated time and I suspect it is because they practice rosy scenarios and the people end up living way beyond their estimate. The investments are totally illiquid and they have no provision for premature sales to interested parties. Watch out! more

Great Company, Even Better Investment! 3/5/2019

Reliant Life Shares was consistent in answering all my questions and took the time to ensure that my money was placed in a valid, non-correlated investment. The policy I invested in matured before the expected time and I ended up doubling the return on my investment. I will invest again. more

CAUTION BEFORE INVESTING 1/24/2018

I invested $15,000 for a share of a life insurance policy. It turns out that Reliant's representation of the life expectancy, for the insured, was dead wrong. Now, I'm being hit up for another $1126.99 to keep the policy, in effect. And, I will have to make an additional payment, each year, until the insured dies. CAUTION WITH THIS COMPANY. more
