Best

I have been eating at the Reef for many years, ever since it opened and was decorated in Hawaiian Island Decor. It has always been a good experience, but now it is great. The view...

Worst

At Sun Champagne brunch 5/16/04. Sat us in the dungeon. We sipped out of glasses, left purses and eyeglasses on table to get food. When returned, others were seated at table. They...

Foods awful 7/8/2008

Lazy service, foods awful, who cares about the rest Cons: food tastes bad more

TOO MANY KIDS RUNNING AROUND 6/18/2008

We went for sunday brunch. The place was complete chaos with little kids running around screaming EVERYWHERE. The food was all right nothing to brag about. Not worth how expensive it is. Pros: NA Cons: Expensive and noisy. Hard to find. more

Terrible service, rude staff 6/14/2008

We held an event at the Reef and received the worst service I've ever seen. The staff was invisible, the food was cold, the chicken was raw in the middle and bleeding (veins -- yuck), the bartenders had a hard time with English and refused to call for cabs for guests (although they called cabs for the another party next door for a family that spoke only Spanish). The wait staff didn't realize that we speak Spanish and could understand them making fun of us. Completely unprofessional. I'll never go there again. Pros: Wonderful view of the harbor Cons: Staff ruins the experience, food is TERRIBLE more

Great restaurant 6/13/2008

I have been eating at the Reef for many years, ever since it opened and was decorated in Hawaiian Island Decor. It has always been a good experience, but now it is great. The views from the bar and the dining room are amazing. Whenever we have family or friends visit Calif. we immediately make reservations at the Reef. Pros: Great views, Great food, very romantic Cons: a little hard to find for new customers more

Best Sunday Brunch anywhere --- with Augie 3/12/2008

I would love to give 5 Stars -- but here's why I can only give 4 Pros: Augie -- my favorite waiter!!! The food is fresh & very delicious, the Ocean View is beautiful... Cons: FRED - the manager is totally unprofessional, rude & very disrespectful... NEVER smiles - NEVER happy to greet or see anyone... seems to be Bothered that you're there & he has to work.... more

Great place! 11/7/2007

I love the scenic views and seafood at The Reef. Service was great, but once i had to wait a while for a table although i had reservations. Price is right. Love the calamari and clam chowder! Would not recommend the jambalaya or the risotto...the risotto changed for some reason, in the past it was delicious. Pros: decor, scenery, service, seafood Cons: hard to find more

Try this restaurant for brunch. You must request AUGIE'S section - HE'S AMAZING!!! 10/29/2007

This restaurant does a great Sunday Brunch. The view is terrific. The price is nice. What makes this restaurant different is a server named AUGIE. He will make you laugh all day. So much so that my family (total of 12 people) wants to make Sunday Brunch at The Reef a monthly occasion. You must insist on sitting in his section. They will try to sit you in other server's sections but it is not the same experience. He is very popular and fills up quickly. If you are lucky enough to sit in his section he will make your day. We found that its a great time for all and we end up talking about Sunday brunch all week and what Augie did or said. He is a LONG BEACH Treasure. The Reef is lucky to have him. Pros: You must request the server Augie Cons: The management who tells you, you can't get Augie as a server more

Great food; bad service 10/1/2006

We had a function in one of the private rooms (buffet style). The food was delicious, but the service was terrible and unfair. We were not allowed to take home our leftovers. We did not care too much about the main courses, but wanted to take home the dessert. We had about 5 different cakes and some were left untouched. Also, one of the waiters broke a glass at our table, sweared out loud (even though children were seated there), and did not clean up all the bits of glass. I would go back to have dinner, but would not have any type of function there ever again........ Pros: view Cons: service more

Great view, good service and food. 8/30/2006

Thank god i have navigation in my lexus because i dont know where i would have ended up. This place was a little difficult to find coming from Torrance. Pros: View Cons: getting there more

Beautiful View + Excellent Food :) 8/19/2006

My bf and I had dinner at The Reef on a saturday nite...Truly one of the best view of long beach, ca :) Ambiance of the restaurant was great -- even when there was a wedding going on -- the dinning area they sat us was nice and quiet and had a GREAT view of the marina :) Our server (Brianna) was EXCELLENT :) Food was great and the bill was reasonable. Overall, I would highly recommend the restaurant :) Oh, FYI --there is NO dress code for the restaurant :) Pros: ambience, service --complementary valet parking Cons: finding it :) more

Such a disappointment for such a price! 6/7/2004

At Sun Champagne brunch 5/16/04. Sat us in the dungeon. We sipped out of glasses, left purses and eyeglasses on table to get food. When returned, others were seated at table. They re-sat US somewhere else!!! Then we couldn't get waiter's attention to get any service. Food cold by time get back to table. Cost approx $25 ea for avg food, bad service. Cons: , price, wait in food lines more
