He asked a lot of questions to make sure he got the design right, and it was what I wanted. His design blew me away. The artwork was amazing, and the final product is fantastic. I walked in just the other day, as soon as i stepped foot in the doors i was greeted by a man named Buddha. Took us 15 minutes to decide the who, what, where, when and how, of my tattoo. I showed up the next day ten minutes early and Buddha was already set up and ready to go. It took a little over an hour, working on my ribcage. He was professional and extremely nice.. We had a conversation the entire time he was tattoo-ing and finished very quickly. The Tattoo came out perfect, everything i asked for was done in perfect detail. I would recommend anyone to this place to any artist. They seriously know what they are doing, and once i'm ready for my second one i'll be sure to come back. Pros: Professional Work more

I just got my first tattoo yesterday at Red Rocket -- I had actually found it on this site, and decided to head over after uni classes to see what it was like. I came in and immediately was greeted by the one and only Buddha. It turns out he had time for me right then! I gave him the picture of my design, filled out the forms, and bam, he was ready. I was very comfortable, and he was very talkative and friendly the whole time. I love love love my tattoo, and if I ever want another tattoo or piercing, I know that Red Rocket is where I will go. I'm writing this as someone who accompanied someone for their first tattoo. That someone being my boyfriend. He's been wanted to get one for some time and he came to Red Rocket after getting a piercing a while ago (It was Alex who did it. He said he was really great). We were walk-in's but first stepping into the place, you can already feel and see that it was a close knit group of people from pictures on the walls and talking and laughing. My boyfriend had something in mind but Budda, who did the work, gave advice to him saying it will get messed up if he wanted it as small as he did on his forearm. Taking his advice he chose something else from a book Budda gave him similar to what he wanted. After waiting for a while for a previous customer to finish which took a really long time for an average tattoo (Seriously, make an appointment first.), my boyfriend was next. Budda talked to him and our friend who was with us as he did his work quick and neat knowing it was his first one. He apologized for the customer before making us wait a while and spoke to us like we're already good buddies. Overall, it was a good experience even to someone on the sidelines watching (me and our friend). Definitely going there again when we are going to get ours soon. more

First of all let me start by saying that ALL of the artist are highly capable professionals and the shop's owner (Mike) has done a helluva job bringing on some of New York's finest for "inking" duties. Betty (my artist) has done 3 pieces for me with the most recent being two weeks ago and I'm still not done with her. Both her and I are from Brooklyn so we just click...know what I mean. The atmosphere is very warm and intimate and EVERYONE there will make you feel like you've been coming there your entire life! I'm currently working outside of Washington D.C. but I drive home to Brooklyn about every 4-6 weeks to visit Ma-dukes and the rest of the fam and Red Rocket is THE tattoo studio to get your "ink on." Sure they have tattoo studios not far from where I work but the quality, detail and overall experience is not like Red Rocket. The shop is located between Macy's Herald Square store (which is Macy's biggest store) AND the Empire State Building so for all those people visiting New York, go get your tattoo then go to Macy's to buy you and your "boo" something nice and then bounce over to the Empire State Building to show off your fresh "masterpiece" from Red Rocket.......now how could you plan a much better day then that? Do yourself a favor and drop over to Red Rocket and stop playing around. I know you've been contemplating and debating whether or not you want to get a tattoo and now is the time to do it......life is short and you can't continue wondering what others will say about how you look with a tattoo. People are going to talk about people NO MATTER WHAT so live your life for you....and do no one wrong and you will be ok. Like I said earlier, the owner Mike has put together an EXCELLENT team of artist and you simply can't go wrong with any of them. I can hardly wait to get get my next piece and have to admit I'm getting excited just thinking about it. Oh, I almost forgot....they play some REALLY good music in the place as well......peace! He is one of a kind. Nicest guy ever and a great tattoo artist. I now know if i ever get a tattoo again im def going to him. I would recommend him to anyone and everyone I know. His work is amazing. He truly is something special. more

Simply put...Adam is the man. He's an extremely skillful, accomplished custom tattoo artist with a great personality that really puts you at ease. I'm a pretty heavily tattooed guy and the pieces that he's done on me blasts the rest of my work out of the water. omg... i came in and was really nervous about getting my first tattoo. the blond guy in the front was so nice and made me totally comfortable.. i hung out on the couch and waited to get tattooed by betty... she was incredible... and during the whole time i was getting tattooed the other artist budda was making me laugh.. I went today to get my first tattoo and as soon as i walked in i could tell it was a really good place. Then when my tattoist Buddha came and was gunna do my tattoo he was awesome! Very friendly place and very clean and experienced, know what they're doing, I highly recommend this place cause im going back to get my other tattoos done here i love it. So ask for Buddha when your getting your tattoo he's wicked: ) All the other tattoists are wicked too soo no matter who u get its gunna be good and u'll have a great experience! I actually found this place right on here! I did a Google search for the best tattoo parlors in New York, which brought me here. So, I went to their website and looked through the portfolios. I was happy with what I saw and set up an appointment with Betty Rose. I was understandably nervous, since this was my first tattoo, but the second I walked in I was put at ease. The whole place was so relaxed and the receptionist was so nice! I went to talk to Betty, and showed her what I wanted. She encouraged me to make it a little bigger so she could get the small details in. I'm glad she did, because it fits my leg nicely. She did a great job! Since I found it on here, I figured I'd go ahead and post my own review, too. :] I'd recommend Red Rocket to anyone. Pros: Comfortable, relaxed atmosphere and wonderful artists Cons: None! more

I WAS LOOKING AROUND ON THE INTERNET ON WHERE I COULD GO GET MY FIRST TATTOO... I CAME ACROSS RED ROCKET TATTOO. I CALLED AND SPOKE TO AN ARTIST NAMED BUDDA. HE WAS VERY NICE AND HELPFUL. I SET UP A DATE TO GO IN AND GET TATTOOED.I WAS VERY NERVOUS GOING TO THE SHOP .........IT WAS MY FIRST TATTTOO EXPERIENCE. FROM THE MOMENT I SET FOOT IN THE SHOP I WAS AMAZED. THE SHOP WAS VERY CLEAN. THE STAFF WAS EXTREMELY FRIENDLY. THEY HAD SOME GREAT TUNES PLAYING. I WALKED OVER AND SAT DOWN AND BROWSED THROUGH SOME OF THE OTHER ARTISTS PORFOLIOS. I WAS BLOWN AWAY BY THE WORK I SEEN IN PHOTOS. BUDDA WALKED OVER AND INTRODUCED HIMSELF. I GAVE HIM THE DRAWING I HAD. HE TOOK IT AND SUGGESTED SOMETHINGS I COULD ADD TO MAKE IT STAND OUT MORE. This is my 3rd tattoo overall, but my first one @ Red Rocket Tattoo. Erik is awesome!!! Not just the tattoo - which by the way I love (and so does everyone else I show it off to), but the manner in which he put me at ease and calmed my nerves. I walked into Red Rocket Tattoo anxious and uneasy but my nerves were quickly dissolved by the friendly and knowledgeable staff. My artist, Budda, made me feel comfortable the whole time I was getting my tattoo done. It came out beautiful! I feel like this place is top notch. It was a very clean and comfortable environment. I went into red rockets for my first tattoo which was a pretty intricate design and Buddha jumped right in and was all about it. It took him a while to draw it up but when he completed it I loved it. It took three different sessions but it was worth it. Just got back from my last session and couldn't be more happy with how it turned out. The question isn't if I will return but when I will return to get my next. I highly suggest to go to red rocket if your looking to get a tattoo and any of the artists are great, they are all friendly and are all highly professional and make it real comfortable.
