I have been continually surprised by Raven Used Books collection of scholarly used books. Not only is it the best collection in the area but their prices are much better than other shops. Though smallish in square footage, the shop makes up this by having an insane amount of turn over of stock as well as more interesting books. more

My new favorite used book store! 11/4/2006

I agree with others on this site, that this shop is excellent! Having moved to boston recently, i was pleasantly surprised to discover the Raven. I like the fact that it is smaller than other shops, yet has more and better selected books than others. Prices are very good and the staff is friendly as well. It perfectly complements Harvard Bookshop for their new book selection. Living in Roslindale, it is sometimes a pain to get to Harvard Square, but it is definitely worth the effort. more

Fantastic Used Books! 7/29/2006

thanks to a review by Alison on this site, i went to Raven Used Books. It is such a great shop in terms of stock, friendliness of staff, and prices. I definitely think that this is the best shop for academic used books in the boston metro area. they also have a huge selection of art books and though the fiction section is smaller than other shops, every book in it is solid. this seems to be the theme of the store --- every book is a good one no matter what the category. Located next to Planet Records on JFK street for those also into good used CD shops. more

Solid Used Book Store 5/21/2006

Raven Used Books has moved in next to Planet Records and it's certainly welcome. With a careful, rich selection of literature and (vaguely and specifically) academic texts, it offers a lot in a pretty small space. They do buy books but call first to find out when to come, and check out what they carry so you know what to bring. Also a good selection of art books. more
