Rainbow Cafe

As a student, I've been to rainbow several times over the past few years. The ordering process takes a bit to get used to, but overall the place is clean and staff are nice. Food is always excellent and portions are huge, even for me! They have alot of vegetarian/vegan dishes, although they also have many burgers as well for the carnivores. more

With handpainted murals, local art exhibits, and menu items like the "woodstock burger," the atmosphere at Rainbow Cafe feels a little like a new age hippie joint...but without the vegan agenda. I keep meaning to order something besides the eggplant and roasted red pepper sandwich when I go. There are many items on the menu (painted behind the cash register) that sound delicious...but I tend to crave my perfectly seasoned usual (which comes with colorful tortilla chips and a pickle). I've occasionally been there for birthday lunches, and their huge and expertly crafted/decorated cakes or gigantic cookies are perfect for such a celebration. If you're strolling around the downtown shops on Chapel Street, this is an excellent choice for a quick meal. more
