Ridiculous! 10/14/2010

Very long wait for appointments. Weeks. Very long wait even if you have an appointment. Then you have to pay consultation fee every time you see a doctor, even if you come to pick up your lab results (!?). Ridiculous! Not recommended. more

An Oscar Winner 5/1/2009

I have been a member since the beginning of the century, and I was there today, May 1,for dental work. This community health center offers health care from pre-natal to (almost)the grave. The first thing I noticed after I joined was the cleanliness of the facilities together with the high morale and professionalism of the staff. You must be a resident of New York City to qualify for the free annual membership, i.e., one reups each year. For the uninsured, it's a godsend, because you present your last paystub, or for the self-employed your Federal return C schedule, and your per-visit fee is pro-rated accordingly. If the Ryan-Nena Community Health Center was a movie, it definitely would win a Best Picture Oscar. more

High-Quality Care 11/10/2008

The Ryan-Nena Community Health Center offers excellent care, and a sliding scale for those without insurance. This is not a clinic, but a free-membership health facility open to all NYC residents. All-encompassing care from prenatal to the (almost) grave is available, including dental and vision. I've been a member for over seven years, and remained one because of the consistent great, professional care. more

Cheap Health service, long waits 8/17/2005

You can't beat RYAN/NENA's sliding scale prices (from $29 for students/no income) for primary care, dentistry, optometrists, and other basic medical services. The waits can be quite excrutiating, however, and the bureaucracy a little hard to navigate, but it is often worth it if you have no alternative. Christine Langdon makes a great primary physician. more
